La Réserve Genève

The wedding page at La Réserve Genève carries exactly one downloadable document, reached through a button marked "BROCHURE." It opens a PDF titled "Rethinking Meetings & Events": eleven pages of Swiss-franc day rates for conference rooms, sample incentive activities (a polo lesson, a lake regatta, a Segway tour of Geneva's Old Town), and, checked page by page, not one mention of the words wedding, marriage or couple. That is what a couple gets for clicking the one link the site offers them: a document built for whoever is planning next quarter's sales kickoff, filed under the same button because nobody has split it in two.

The page itself is thin on its own terms too. Below a "Dimensions & Capacities" table, a section titled "Unique Moments" carries a single heading, WEDDINGS, and four sentences under it: the venue offers "customized expertise," "a warm atmosphere," "complete privacy," and "a professional team" who will help make "your dreams come true." None of it is specific to a wedding. One paragraph up, the page's actual description of what gets held there names six occasions in a single sentence: "wedding, baptism, birthday, end of year party, graduation, summer events." A wedding is first on the list and structurally identical to the other five: same rooms, same table, same inquiry button.

Six occasions, one paragraph

That six-occasion sentence is the entirety of what La Réserve Genève's own copy says a wedding here would look like. Everything specific lives in the shared "Dimensions & Capacities" table, which lists rooms rather than weddings: Salon Réserve (90 m², up to 60 people), Salon Cos (50 m², up to 30), Salon Tsé Fung, combined or split into Tsé Fung 1 and Tsé Fung 2 (104 m² together), Salon du Loti (40 m², seating up to 30, with its own terrace over the park and lake), and the Lodge, the largest space at 304 m², holding up to 120 for a seated banquet or 150 for a cocktail reception, with its own private terrace and park-and-lake views. That is genuinely useful information for sizing a wedding, and it is published without a login or an enquiry form. What is not published anywhere on the private-events page, the meetings page, or the brochure is which of these rooms, if any, has actually hosted a wedding, what a ceremony setup looks like in any of them, or what a couple would pay for one.

A trimmed copy of the meetings page

The "Meetings" page, filed one click over in the same navigation section, carries almost the identical table, room for room, plus one the wedding page leaves out: Salon Tokaj, a 30 m² boardroom seating up to 10. Comparing the two tables line by line turns up something else worth knowing before trusting either: the Lodge is listed at 304 m² on the private-events page, arithmetic that checks out against its own stated dimensions of roughly 21.7 by 14 metres, and at 150 m² on the meetings page, the same figure as its own cocktail capacity, planted in the wrong column. The MICE brochure PDF, the same document linked from the wedding page's own "BROCHURE" button, corroborates 304 m² in its own summary table. None of this changes what the Lodge actually is; it does mean a couple comparing the two pages the site itself offers, rather than the one page it happened to be pointed at, would get two different answers to a basic question about size.

CHF 600 for ten people, nothing for a hundred and fifty

Every room in the brochure carries an exact price, down to the smallest. Salon Tokaj, the 10-person boardroom, rents for CHF 600 a half day or CHF 1'000 for a full one. Salon Réserve, at 90 m², is CHF 1'300 or CHF 2'100. Tsé Fung 1 and 2 combined run CHF 1'250 or CHF 2'500. Salon Loti is CHF 950 for a half day; the brochure gives no full-day rate for it. The Lodge, the one space actually built for a party the size of a wedding, up to 150 for a cocktail reception, carries no rate anywhere in the same document: "Tarif sur demande selon le nombre de convives," rates on request according to the number of guests. Every other room in the table carries a published Swiss-franc figure. The Lodge does not.

Two villas, only one of them on site

The main navigation lists two villas side by side, Villa du Lac and Villa Cologny, and the two are not the same kind of thing. Villa du Lac, at 385 m² with three bedrooms, sits on La Réserve's own grounds and comes with access to the hotel's spa, restaurants and Motoscafo boat shuttle: a genuine on-property option for a bridal party. Villa Cologny, at 650 m² with five bedrooms, is a separate property in a different Geneva neighbourhood, described on its own page as "twenty minutes from La Réserve Genève." Its garden is given two different sizes on that same page, 3,500 m² in the descriptive paragraph and 3,000 m² in the facilities list directly below it, a small discrepancy but a real one. Listed together under one "Villas" heading with no distance noted between them, a couple relying on the navigation alone would have no way to tell that only one of the two is somewhere they could walk to from the hotel.

What it takes to hold the date from outside Switzerland

The general terms and conditions, dated Geneva, July 2022, spell out what changes for a booking made from abroad: "For guests resident in Switzerland, a reservation shall also be considered as definite upon receipt of a written confirmation." The implication, stated by omission, is that everyone else needs the alternative the same clause opens with, a deposit or a credit card guarantee, before a date counts as held. The same document publishes a full IBAN and SWIFT/BIC code for wire transfer, addressed to HMC Hôtel Management Corporation SA, the legal entity behind the La Réserve Genève brand and part of the Michel Reybier Hospitality group named on the hotel's own careers page. On the marriage itself, the site stays silent in both directions: nothing on the private-events page, the meetings page or the brochure names a civil registrar or a Zivilstandsamt equivalent, and nothing states that a ceremony here is symbolic only. A marriage is legally binding in Switzerland only when a civil registrar performs it, in a location the canton has approved for that purpose. La Réserve Genève's own site simply never raises the question, in either direction.

None of this makes La Réserve Genève a bad choice for a wedding. It sits on 10 acres of private grounds on the shore of Lake Geneva, with its own private harbour, an in-house Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant, and a Motoscafo that collects guests from the city centre by water. Its Spa Nescens took 94 of 100 points in the Falstaff Spa Guide 2026, awarded that same year. What it does not have, anywhere on its own site, is a wedding operation distinct from its events operation: the same phone number and the same banquets@ inbox handle both, the same room table prices boardrooms and reception rooms side by side, and the one downloadable document a couple is actually offered was written for somebody else's meeting.
