Seedamm Plaza
Tap a star to rate
Casino Pfäffikon sits in Seedamm Plaza's own main navigation on every page of the site, including the wedding page: eight links across the top, Hotel Wellness, Eating Going Out, Meetings Seminars, Banquets Celebrations, Events Location, Leisure Family, Casino Pfäffikon, Takeaway Shop, all treated as equal siblings. The casino gets its own top-level slot, not a sub-item under Leisure Family or Events Location. And yet grep the wedding page's own prose, the wedding-anniversary page, and the vendor-services page that lists every florist, DJ and cake baker Seedamm Plaza works with, and the word "casino" appears nowhere. It shows up only in the navigation bar that ships on every page regardless of topic. A hotel that keeps a gaming floor in its own building and a wedding department a corridor away has, on its own site, kept the two from ever mentioning each other.
Seedamm Plaza opened in 1998 on the upper end of Lake Zurich in Pfäffikon SZ, next to the Frauenwinkel nature reserve, in what its own directions page calls the middle of Zurich's economic region. HotellerieSuisse audits it as a 4-star hotel with three named specializations: Conference and Seminar Hotel, Bike Hotel, and Excellent Cuisine. Weddings are not one of the three, which matches what the property actually is: a 142-room congress hotel, rooms sized 22 to 35 square metres with a 55-square-metre Penthouse Suite, that also runs a wedding department, a casino, and a working restaurant program, side by side under one roof and one phone number.
The wedding pitch itself is straightforward and, by this category's standards, genuinely staffed: two named coordinators, Laura Moser and Katja Oertig, each with a direct phone line and email, rather than a shared inbox. The dedicated line for wedding enquiries is +41 55 417 27 27, distinct from the hotel's general number. The site's own copy leans into a specific choice a couple has to make early: "Gala dinner or informal tavolata?" A gala dinner means white-covered chairs and candlelit tables; a tavolata puts the food in the middle of the table and lets guests serve themselves, which the copy frames as the more relaxed, increasingly popular option. It's a real fork in the product, not filler.
The room list a wedding gets, and the one it doesn't
The wedding page names five "suitable rooms": Leonardo da Vinci, Gigerstübli, Aquarius, the OLEA wine room, and the hotel's restaurant. The wedding-anniversary page adds a sixth, the BBQ grill place. Each of the three named function rooms has its own published footprint. Aquarius is 410 square metres and seats up to 279. Gigerstübli is smaller and lake-facing, 221 square metres for weddings, capped at 99 guests, though the same room converts to a seminar space for up to 60 when nobody's celebrating. Leonardo da Vinci is the big one: 420 square metres, sold for business and concert use at up to 550 people, but its own page says it "is transformed into a festive wedding venue for up to 256 persons" when it's dressed for a ceremony, chairs in white, candlelight throughout. That's a real difference between two configurations of the same floor, not a contradiction to flag, and it's the kind of number worth stating plainly rather than building a headline around.
What the wedding page's own room list does not include is AVALON, the hotel's newest event space. AVALON gets prominent billing on the homepage itself, under the heading "AVALON – Beyond Moments," and its own dedicated page names weddings explicitly as one of three uses: "Corporate / Finance Event, Wedding, Christmas." Every other room's own page carries a "Suitable for" tag list that includes Weddings. AVALON's does too. But the wedding department's own page, the one a couples actually lands on, never names AVALON among its five (or six) suitable rooms. Either the wedding team hasn't updated its own room list since AVALON opened, or AVALON is marketed to weddings site-wide except on the one page written for wedding couples. Either way, a couple who only reads the wedding page would never learn the room exists.
The vendor-services page is the strongest part of the wedding product and the part most other listings in this category can't match: a genuinely long, named list rather than a generic "we can arrange" line. Sixteen named music and entertainment acts, from a vocal sextet (acavoce) to specific wedding DJs (Die Hochzeitsdjs, DJ Benz, DJ Daniel, Wedding Voice). Three named florists (Blumengarage GmbH in Lachen, Passion Point GmbH in Altendorf, Riedland.ch in Tuggen) plus a tent-and-furniture rental company. Two named photographers. Three named cake bakeries, including one specifically in Zürich rather than Pfäffikon itself. A dedicated wedding-nanny service, three transport companies, a dance school, and two event-production agencies. None of it is priced on the page, and neither is any part of the wedding rooms themselves: no room-rental figure, no per-person banquet rate, no deposit or minimum spend appears anywhere across the wedding, wedding-anniversary or vendor pages, unlike the casino's own combo-offer page a few clicks away, which prices everything down to the franc.
Eleven tables, a minimum age, and a hotel that never crosses the two products
Casino Pfäffikon is licensed gaming on the same property, not an arcade room: 11 games tables (American Roulette, Black Jack, Poker) and, per the casino's own hub page and its dedicated sub-page, 175 slot machines, open 365 days a year, gaming tables from 5 p.m. daily. The doors run Sunday to Thursday 11 a.m. to 3 a.m. and Friday to Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 a.m. Entry carries a legal condition stated plainly on the casino's own page: minimum age 18, admission only with an official ID. That's a harder line than anything on the wedding side of the site, which never mentions an age restriction at all, and it means the casino floor is structurally the one part of Seedamm Plaza's own event stock a wedding's under-18 guests, and Swiss weddings routinely include children and teenage relatives, cannot enter regardless of what the couple books elsewhere in the building.
The casino sells itself entirely through six named "combo offers," each a specific package of dining plus gaming: The First Casino Visit at CHF 34 per person; Eat, Gamble And Enjoy, a dinner at Restaurant OLEA paired with casino access, at CHF 99; Brunch Royal, the OLEA Sunday brunch bundled with casino vouchers, at CHF 89; two ICONIC restaurant packages, an ICONIC Casino Night at CHF 143 and an ICONIC All-In After Dinner at CHF 123; and a seasonal Fondue Chinoise & Casino package, available late October to late March for groups of 10 to 40 people, at CHF 89. Every one of those six packages pairs the casino with one of the hotel's restaurants. None pairs it with a wedding, a wedding anniversary, or any of the five named wedding function rooms. If Seedamm Plaza wanted to sell a wedding party a casino night as an add-on, the packaging apparatus to do exactly that already exists on its own site; it has simply never been pointed at weddings.
The one place the two products even share a sentence is the hotel's own About Us page, under a heading called "Relaxation and entertainment," which lists the casino alongside the sauna and the fitness room as something to do "after a strenuous seminar day or an excursion." That's the casino's actual framing on this site: a congress-guest amenity, grouped with wellness facilities, aimed at seminar attendees and hikers rather than wedding parties. The same paragraph states the slot-machine count as 155, which disagrees with the 175 figure the casino's own dedicated pages give twice; the two live pages agree with each other and the About Us page is the outlier, so 175 is what's published above, with the discrepancy noted rather than picked silently.
Forty-five minutes from the airport, and a legal question the site never raises
For a couple flying guests in, the practical numbers are on the directions page rather than the wedding page: the S2 train reaches Pfäffikon SZ from the airport in 45 minutes, and the trip from Zurich's main station drops to 30 minutes. From Pfäffikon SZ station itself it's a 10-minute walk, or 2 to 3 minutes from the "Schweizerhof" bus stop, or 5 minutes by the local Seedamm Taxi service, whose own number is printed on the same page. None of that is wedding-specific copy; it's the same directions page every guest uses, but it answers the destination-wedding question of how a jet-lagged guest list actually gets there.
On the one legal question every wedding in Switzerland eventually has to answer, the site is flatly silent. A marriage becomes legally binding in Switzerland only once a civil registrar performs it, and only in a location the canton has approved for civil ceremonies; plenty of hotels and castles hold that approval, but plenty don't, and it's a fact about the specific venue, never an assumption. Seedamm Plaza's wedding, wedding-anniversary, vendor-services and casino pages carry no mention of a registrar, a Zivilstandsamt, or a civil ceremony of any kind. Nothing on the site claims the property is an approved location, and nothing rules it out either; the wedding copy is entirely about the party, the room, the caterer and the band, and the legal act itself sits outside what the hotel chooses to publish. A couple planning to marry here would need to confirm that separately with the Schwyz civil registry rather than expect an answer from the hotel's own pages.
The verdict
Seedamm Plaza works best for a couple who already wants a full-service congress hotel rather than a dedicated wedding estate: a large, flexible room in Leonardo da Vinci or the lake-facing Gigerstübli, a long and genuinely specific list of approved local vendors, two named coordinators who answer directly, and 142 rooms on-site for a travelling guest list, all fifty minutes or less from Zurich Airport by train. What it doesn't offer is a wedding-specific angle on the one thing that makes the address unusual: a licensed casino sharing the building, the phone number and the reception desk, that the wedding department's own pages treat as though it doesn't exist. Nobody planning here should expect a casino night written into the package; if they want one, the six existing combo offers are the template to ask the coordinators to adapt, since nothing built for that purpose exists on the site today.
