Tap a star to rate

The only page on hdc.ch that uses the word traiteur is titled "Service traiteur", and what it actually delivers is a weekday lunch order form, not anything shaped like a wedding caterer's offer. It runs Monday to Friday only: order through the site's own form by 11:30, and collect the dish yourself between 11:45 and 14:00 at lunch, or between 19:00 and 20:30 in the evening. There's no delivery option anywhere on the page, only pickup, and payment happens on site by card, Postcard, Twint or cash. One of the 11 dishes on the current order form is simply labelled "Menu du jour", priced at CHF 20, and doesn't even describe itself: the page just tells you to go check the restaurant's own page to see what it actually is. The rest of the list is straightforward brasserie food rather than anything wedding-adjacent: a Swiss-beef burger at CHF 25, a Mediterranean salmon bowl at CHF 26, a beef lasagne at CHF 25, and, at the top of the range, pan-fried perch from Valais at CHF 39.

The kitchen behind that counter is the same one that runs the sit-down room. The Restaurant & Bar page credits "la cuisine de notre cheffe", its head chef, a woman, with blending regional and international flavours across a daily menu and a separate seasonal card, served Monday to Friday only, 12:00 to 14:00 at lunch and 19:00 to 21:00 at dinner. The daily menu shown on that page the day this was checked ran an entrecôte at CHF 28 and a mushroom risotto with cured ham at CHF 22 as mains, alongside a rotating seasonal card the site says changes with what's regionally in season; a breakfast buffet, open to non-guests as well as residents, runs 7 days a week even though lunch and dinner service does not. A bar and terrace handle drinks separately, with their own printed drinks list, described on the site only as a spot for an apéro rather than anything tied to a specific occasion. That page is also where the hotel's entire published statement on private catering lives, and it is one sentence long: "Nous vous accueillons pour vos différents événements privés et professionnels. Demandez nous une offre personnalisée." We welcome you for your various private and professional events, it says; ask us for a tailored quote. Sent to hello@hdc.ch or through the site's contact form, that sentence is the whole of what's published about booking this kitchen for something bigger than a takeaway lunch. No guest minimum, no per-head price, no tasting process and no dietary or allergy policy appears anywhere near it, or anywhere else on the site. Nothing describes catering carried to a venue that isn't the hotel itself, either: whatever gets served under that line happens in Chailly, not driven somewhere else, and nothing on the site names an outside venue this kitchen works with or holds a place on any approved-supplier list for.

The one part of Chailly with a price tag already on it

The closest thing to a fixed catering answer on the site is actually a room-rental page. A 27 square metre conference room, seating up to 12 people around a table, rents for CHF 165 for a half day (5 hours) or CHF 220 for a full one. The restaurant itself, at 53 square metres, or the ground-floor bowling alley beside it, at 47 square metres, both take 13 to 40 people and rent for CHF 265 half a day or CHF 420 a full one. Those rates sit on the "Entreprises et réunions" page, addressed to seminar groups, truck drivers and sales reps passing through Montreux on business, not to wedding parties, and nothing on that page or anywhere else on the domain reframes the restaurant as a reception space in its own right. What it does confirm is that if a couple wanted the restaurant to themselves for a private meal, the room's day rate is already public, even though the food that would go with it isn't.

The kitchen keeps a restaurant's hours, not an events team's

Hôtel de Chailly has run from Route des Châtaigniers 1 since 1979; its own About page credits the "philosophie d'accueil" to "nos parents", the current generation's parents, without naming who actually runs the place today. It describes itself as sitting "aux portes de Montreux", at the gates of Montreux, easily reached from the motorway, which is about the extent of what the site says about where it sits. What that history doesn't change is the schedule. The takeaway order form runs weekdays only; the sit-down restaurant is closed Saturday and Sunday altogether, open again only for its weekday lunch and dinner service. A wedding party wanting a Saturday booking through the "offre personnalisée" line would be asking a working restaurant to open outside its own posted hours, and nothing on the site says whether it does that, or what asking would cost. The site's own tagline calls the family "vos artisans de l'accueil", your hospitality craftsmen, a phrase that fits a hotel built around welcoming individual guests rather than one built around running events.

A lunch counter with an events line attached

Nowhere on hdc.ch, including the page branded traiteur, does the word wedding, mariage or Hochzeit appear. That's consistent with everything else the site publishes: this is a small, family-run hotel restaurant that handles private events by direct enquiry rather than by marketing to them, sitting next to a completely separate weekday lunch pickup service that happens to share the word "traiteur" with the trade a couple browsing this category is actually shopping for. For a small group already staying at the hotel, or passing through the Montreux Riviera and wanting a straightforward quote from a kitchen that already prices its own room to the franc, that one-line offer is worth a direct email. For a couple looking for a dedicated wedding caterer, with a tasting, a published per-head price and a portfolio of weddings already worked, the site gives no reason to expect any of that here, and no reason to invent it either.
