11 Blumen
Tap a star to rate
11 Blumen is a flower shop on Friedhofplatz in Solothurn, run by its owner, the florist Gülsen Ugurlu. It calls itself "der verspielte Blumenladen in Solothurn" (the playful flower shop in Solothurn), and wedding floristry is one of its named services, with the bridal bouquet, table decoration, church decoration and car decoration listed on the homepage. For a couple marrying in Solothurn or the surrounding area, it is a local shop with a personal owner rather than a large event studio.
The shop and its owner
The site is a single long page in German, and it tells the story of the shop through its owner. In her own words: "Ich bin Gülsen Ugurlu, Floristin und Inhaberin von 11 Blumen in Solothurn." (I am Gülsen Ugurlu, florist and owner of 11 Blumen in Solothurn.) She writes that she is originally from Kurdistan, which she describes as a region "geprägt von wilder Natur, starken Farben und einer tiefen Verbundenheit zur Pflanzenwelt", marked by wild nature, strong colors and a deep bond with the plant world, and that this love of nature still shapes her floristry.
She describes Solothurn as the most beautiful baroque town and says she has created a nature-oriented, playful shop there, where each piece is made with care, experience and a fine feel for shapes, colors and moods. The heading over the whole site is "Floristik mit Herz", floristry with heart.
The page's summary of what the shop does is that individual arrangements, bouquets and floral pieces are made "mit viel Liebe zur Natur" (with a great deal of love for nature) for special moments, weddings and personal occasions. Everything is made with seasonal flowers, according to the services section, and arranged after a personal consultation in the shop.
Wedding floristry
The wedding section is headed "Hochzeitsfloristik und Blumendekoration für Feste, Feiern und Anlässe in und um Solothurn", wedding floristry and flower decoration for celebrations in and around Solothurn. The services the homepage lists under Hochzeitsfloristik are:
- the bridal bouquet (Brautstrauss)
- table decoration (Tischdekoration)
- church decoration (Kirchenschmuck)
- car decoration (Autoschmuck)
- event floristry (Eventfloristik)
The page says that from the bridal bouquet, table flowers and church decoration through to floral concepts for events and parties, each design is planned personally and made "mit sehr viel Liebe" into arrangements. It names three kinds of occasion it has in mind, a romantic wedding, a stylish celebration or an individual event, and says its wedding and event floristry creates atmosphere.
The one planning instruction on the page is direct: "Für Hochzeiten und grössere Anlässe empfehlen wir eine frühzeitige Beratung." For weddings and larger events, the shop recommends an early consultation. The button under that section is a request for a consultation appointment (beratungstermin anfragen); the page offers no menu of fixed wedding arrangements.
The service area the page names is Solothurn and its surroundings ("in und um Solothurn", "Solothurn und Umgebung"). It does not say how far beyond the town the shop delivers or sets up.
Other occasions and the shop itself
Weddings are one part of a broader local business. The homepage lists bouquets and gifts (individual bouquets for any occasion, fresh cut flowers, plant arrangements for the home, small gifts), and flowers for birthdays, baptisms, first communions, company events, private parties and funerals.
There is also a Blumenabo, a weekly flower service for companies, offices and shops in Solothurn and the area, with the page naming restaurants, boutiques, medical practices and hotels among the kinds of business it serves. Each delivery is put together to suit the season and the space, the page says.
A section called Lieblingsstücke (favorite pieces) covers the non-floral side of the shop: small gifts, homeware from Atelier Tilija and design objects. A couple visiting the shop for a consultation will find it is also a place to browse.
Opening hours and contact
The shop's published hours are:
- Monday: closed
- Tuesday to Friday: 10.00 to 18.30
- Saturday: 9.00 to 17.00
Sunday is not listed. The homepage also carried a one-off notice that the shop would open on Sunday 17 May from 11 to 17.
Contact details on the page are 11 Blumen, Gülsen Ugurlu, Friedhofplatz 1, 4500 Solothurn, telephone 032 621 46 44, mobile 076 399 14 27 and mail@11blumen.ch. There is a contact form with a drop-down for the subject, and wedding floristry (Hochzeitsfloristik) is one of the options, alongside a custom bouquet, funeral flowers, an event, the subscription or something else. The message field asks for details and the date. The shop also has an Instagram account, linked from the page.
What the site does not settle
The site publishes no prices, either for wedding work or for the subscription. It gives no minimum order, no deposit rule and no cancellation terms, and beyond recommending early contact it gives no lead time for a wedding.
The site is entirely in German and does not mention English or any other language. A couple who do not speak German can use the contact form or email, but should ask at the start whether the consultation can be held in English.
The page says the shop works in and around Solothurn. It does not say whether it will deliver to or decorate a venue further away, or how set-up on the day is handled: who brings the flowers, who dresses the church or the tables, and who collects vases or stands afterward. Those are all questions for the first consultation. There is no gallery of past weddings on the page; the Instagram account is the place to see recent work.
Who it suits
11 Blumen suits a couple marrying in Solothurn or nearby who want to work with the person who will actually make the flowers, and who like the idea of a small, seasonal, nature-led style rather than a large decoration company. Couples who live in the area, or who can visit Solothurn before the wedding, will get the most from the in-shop consultation the page describes.
It suits less well a couple planning entirely from abroad in English, since the site gives no sign of that, or a wedding far from Solothurn, which falls outside the area the page names. And couples with a fixed budget will need to ask for a quote, because nothing on the page gives a price.
