Art & Crea

Tap a star to rate

Art & Crea is a small atelier shop in Steinach, in the St. Gallen area of eastern Switzerland, run by Tamara Huwiler. Its wedding page lists the bridal bouquet, buttonholes, flower arrangements and church decoration, and the page title places the work "in St.Gallen und Umgebung / Ostschweiz", in St. Gallen and the surrounding area and eastern Switzerland. Alongside weddings, she makes handcrafted decorations and gifts, funeral flowers and event decoration, and rents out covers for chairs and standing tables. For a couple marrying in that region who want a one-person, handmade approach, it is a small and personal option.

Who runs it

The About page is written by Tamara Huwiler herself. She opens with "Mit Art & Crea habe ich mein grosses Hobby zum Teilzeitberuf gemacht!", meaning that with Art & Crea she turned her big hobby into a part-time profession. She writes that her passion for making things from different materials has grown over the years, and that she added to her craft skills through many courses and training programs. At first she showed her one-off pieces mainly at exhibitions and markets, and she also ran courses herself. After completing her latest floristry training, she took the step into part-time self-employment. In the shop, she writes, she presents pieces made mostly by hand, bouquets and dressed plants, and she offers her services to order ("Auf Bestellung"), shaped to what each customer needs. For a wedding, that order-based way of working is the relevant part.

That is useful context for a couple. This is a trained florist working part-time from her own small shop, not a larger studio with staff. The page gives no founding year and no number of weddings.

The wedding offer

The services page describes the wedding work in a short paragraph. It calls the wedding the most beautiful day of the couple's life, with the couple at the center, and says the right flowers belong to it. Then comes the practical line, which starts "Ob es sich um einen klassischen Hochzeitsstrauss handelt oder ob Sie einen speziellen, ausgeflippten Wunsch haben". In English: whether it is a classic bridal bouquet or a special, offbeat wish, she is happy to plan and carry out the various decorations together with the couple.

The items the site names for weddings are:

  • Strauss / Hochzeitsstrauss, the bridal bouquet
  • Anstecker / Blumenanstecker, flower buttonholes
  • Blumengesteck, flower arrangements
  • Kirchenschmuck, church decoration
  • Hochzeitsdekoration, wedding decoration more broadly

The wedding page's picture labels also include a candy bar ("Candybar mieten", candy bar for rent), but the page gives no further detail on what that covers, so a couple interested in that should ask what it includes.

Event decoration and rentals

The event decoration page is relevant to a wedding reception. It lists table decoration, arrangements, name cards and the rental of covers for chairs and standing tables ("Vermieten von Hussen für Stühle und Stehtische"). The services page says every occasion gets suitable flowers, naming baptisms, birthday parties and company events, and that she is glad to advise. For a couple, the combination means one person could cover the bouquet, the church, the tables, the name cards and the chair covers.

Other work

The rest of the business shows the handmade side. Accessories and gifts include decorations, garden stakes and metal stands, made from clay, metal, wood and fabric. The About page describes the atelier shop she set up in Steinach, with one-off pieces made from driftwood, metal and flowers, and says visitors will find a suitable gift for every occasion. She also offers a flower subscription and planting service (Blumenabo und Bepflanzungen), funeral flowers (wreaths, casket bouquets and arranged hearts, with the page stressing that each funeral should be designed individually), and workshops such as making Easter arrangements, planting a herb basket and a session called Freundinnenzeit (time with friends). The site names one partner, Gnusswerkstatt 23, without describing the connection.

Contact and opening

The contact details on every page are Tamara Huwiler, Kornfeldstrasse 12b, 9323 Steinach, telephone 079 721 15 54, email info@artundcrea.com. The contact page asks people to send an email or get in touch by WhatsApp, and says inquiries are answered as quickly as possible. Under opening hours it says "Täglich von Montag bis Sonntag im Verkaufshäuschen", daily from Monday to Sunday in the sales hut. It gives no times, and a couple planning a visit to talk about wedding flowers should arrange it in advance rather than rely on that line.

What the site does not settle

The site publishes no prices for wedding flowers, the candy bar or the chair cover rental, and no packages. It gives no booking lead time and no deposit or cancellation rule.

The site has a language switcher showing English and Polish as well as German, but the pages themselves are in German. Nothing on them states whether she advises in English, so a couple who do not speak German should ask in their first message, and WhatsApp or email makes that easy to do in writing.

The wedding page names St. Gallen, its surroundings and eastern Switzerland in its title, but the site does not say how far she travels to deliver or decorate, or how set-up on the day is handled. For a venue at a distance from Steinach, that is the first practical question. As a part-time business run by one person, availability on a given date is also worth checking early.

Who it suits

Art & Crea suits a couple marrying in the St. Gallen area or elsewhere in eastern Switzerland who want to deal with the florist herself, who like handmade details, and who may want flowers, table decoration, name cards and chair covers from one source. The explicit openness to an "ausgeflippten Wunsch", an offbeat idea, makes it a good match for couples who want something other than a classic bouquet.

It suits less well a couple planning a large wedding far from eastern Switzerland, or anyone who needs English-language planning confirmed in advance and a price list before getting in touch. Those answers have to come from Tamara Huwiler directly.
