Blueme & Deko

Tap a star to rate

Blueme & Deko is the florist and decoration business of Stefanie Bütikofer, based in the German-speaking part of the canton of Fribourg. Consultations take place in Schmitten FR and the rental stock is handed over in Heitenried FR. It is one of the few wedding florists in Switzerland that publishes its prices: three wedding packages with guide prices, and a long rental list with a price beside every item.

Weddings and other celebrations

The homepage lists the occasions Bütikofer decorates: baby showers, christenings, confirmations, birthdays and anniversaries, bridal parties, weddings and company events. Weddings are the centerpiece, and she writes that wedding floristry is her own favorite kind of work. Her flowers can be combined with pieces from her decor hire, and personalized items such as a welcome board or a ring box are part of what she makes. Couples can also hire the decor alone without ordering any flowers.

She asks couples which style they are drawn to, and names three: Boho (wild, modern, natural and simple), Vintage or shabby chic (romantic and playful), and country-house style (lots of lace and meadow flowers). The first consultation, including a quote, is free.

The three wedding packages

The site explains that the cost of wedding decoration depends on the style and scale, the flower varieties and the work needed on the day, and it gives three packages as a guide. It says plainly that these are guide prices ("Richtpreise"), that the contents are adjusted to each couple, and that single decor elements can be added to any package at extra cost.

Budget package, about CHF 1,850. For the ceremony: an arch with flowers, candles in lanterns on the floor at the front and along the aisle, an easel with a personalized welcome board at the entrance, and a personalized ring box. For the evening venue: table decoration for about 60 to 70 people with runners, candle holders and small vases of flowers. For the couple: the bridal bouquet, a boutonniere for the groom, a bouquet on the car hood and flowers for the bride's hair. Setup is included up to 50 km; taking the decoration down and returning the material is not included but can be added for a fee.

Standard package, about CHF 2,500. Everything above, plus flowers near the couple at the ceremony, benches or chairs decorated with baby's breath, greenery and long ribbons, lanterns at the entrance, small vases on the apéro tables, table numbers, and a boutonniere for one member of the bridal party. Taking down the decoration at the ceremony and the apéro is included up to 50 km, and pickup of rented items from the evening venue can be added for a fee.

Exclusive package, about CHF 3,600. This adds a bench or chairs for the couple, reclaimed-wood signs for reserved seats, a larger entrance display with pampas grass and crates, a wooden beer bar, drink dispensers and a wooden ladder at the apéro, a large seating plan, napkin decoration, a decorated buffet, flowers and a personalized wooden topper for the cake, a photo guestbook with props, and decoration in the restrooms. The car gets a garland front and back, and two members of the bridal party get boutonnieres. Clearing the ceremony and apéro is included, and the evening decoration is collected the following day, included up to 50 km.

Delivery, meetings and booking

Delivery to the ceremony, the apéro venue and the evening venue is included in the packages up to 50 km from Heitenried, with a surcharge beyond that. Each package includes a first consultation, a non-binding quote, and a second meeting to settle the final flower and decoration concept. The meetings are held in Schmitten FR, and any further meetings are charged.

Enquiries go through the contact form, and the site says Bütikofer replies personally within 1 to 2 working days. No phone number or email address appears on the homepage text.

Decor to hire

The rental list covers the rustic, reclaimed-wood look that the packages use. A few examples with their listed prices: an easel for CHF 20, a wooden ladder with a shelf for CHF 30, a beer bar for CHF 40, a personalized reclaimed-wood signpost for CHF 60, a guestbook for CHF 40, an old window for a seating plan for CHF 35, a large personalized welcome board for CHF 90, two wooden ceremony arches at CHF 40 each, standing tables at CHF 15, and pavilions of 3 by 3 meters at CHF 30 each or 6 by 3 meters at CHF 50. There are also vases and candle glasses sold as sets, table runners in pink, white and beige, a soap-bubble machine and LED letters spelling LOVE. Table-number signs come in a German and an English version, which matters for a mixed-language guest list.

The rental terms are specific. Prices cover 4 days, starting on the day of pickup. Items are handed over in Heitenried and must be returned there; delivery to and from the venue is not included. The terms state that the renter is fully liable for any damage, including damage from weather, transport or misuse. Because the same pieces are used for her wedding work, the site asks for availability requests about 4 months before the event.

Workshops

On request, Bütikofer runs workshops for flower hoops in a boho style, florally decorated tea lights and, in Advent, wreath-making. For a Poltertag or bridal shower, she offers a workshop in Krattigen that the page describes as having a panoramic view of Lake Thun, with a small apéro and sparkling wine to toast.

What the site does not cover

The site is written entirely in Swiss German and standard German, and it does not say whether consultations can be held in English. The English table numbers are the only sign of international weddings. The surcharge for venues more than 50 km away is not priced, and the site does not say how far Bütikofer will travel at all. There is also no stated lead time for booking the floristry itself, as opposed to the 4-month note for rentals.

Who it suits

Blueme & Deko suits couples marrying in the Fribourg and Bern border area who like a relaxed, rustic or boho style and want to know the rough cost before the first meeting. The packages are sized around a table plan for about 60 to 70 people, so a much larger wedding means an individual quote. Couples from abroad should expect to need at least one meeting in Schmitten, to write in German or ask about English first, and to arrange their own transport if they hire decor without a package.
