Blumen Graben

Tap a star to rate

Blumen Graben is a flower shop at Murgstrasse 9 in Frauenfeld, in the canton of Thurgau, which describes itself as a charming flower shop in the center of Frauenfeld shaped by a passion for floristry. It has a dedicated wedding page and decorates every part of a wedding day, from the church or ceremony site and the car to the apéro and the restaurant. Sandra took over the business in 2014 and runs it with a small team.

The wedding offer

The wedding page opens with four words in quotation marks, "einzigartig, spektakulär, wunderschön, individuell" (unique, spectacular, beautiful, individual), as the way the wedding day should be. It then says the team designs wedding decoration with dedication to each couple's own wishes: "Ob Kirche, freie Trauungsorte, Fahrzeuge aller Art, Apéro Bereiche oder Restaurants – wir setzen Ihre Vorstellungen liebevoll um." In English, whether it is a church, an independent ceremony site, vehicles of any kind, apéro areas or restaurants, the team carries out the couple's ideas with care.

One line on the page is especially useful when the ceremony and the reception are in different places: "Gerne transportieren wir auch den Blumenschmuck aus der Kirche ins Restaurant, ohne dass Sie es bemerken." The shop will move the flowers from the church to the restaurant without the couple noticing. That means the church decoration does double duty at the reception, and nobody from the wedding party has to organize the move.

The page also lists items for hire ("Zum Vermieten"): lanterns, candle holders and glasses with candles, and a range of vases, small vases and containers.

What the wedding gallery shows

The wedding page carries a long gallery, and its captions give a fair picture of what the shop makes for weddings: bridal bouquets (one captioned in salmon and orange), a bridal bouquet with a matching hair wreath, and another bridal bouquet and hair wreath made of edelweiss, boutonnieres, table decorations and table arrangements, room decoration, decoration on a metal ladder, a sweet table, a ring box, filled vases, hanging ball decorations and loops. Two captions refer to invitation cards.

The general gallery shows the everyday side of the shop: spring bouquets with tulips and ranunculus, dried flowers, eucalyptus wreaths, house plants and ceramic vases. The about page says the team takes daily inspiration from nature for creative and unusual arrangements, and the menu shows the rest of the business: flower orders, a flower subscription, funeral floristry and events held in the shop itself.

Events and decoration

A separate page covers events and decoration under the heading "individuell und speziell" (individual and special). It lists company events, openings, anniversaries, family parties, birthday parties and engagements, meetings, graduation ceremonies and trade fair stands, and says the team works out a floral concept with the customer and gives the room the right atmosphere. The key line for a wedding couple is "Wir liefern und dekorieren gerne vor Ort": the shop delivers and decorates on site.

The team

The about page introduces three people.

Sandra is "die Chefin im Haus", the boss, and took over Blumen Graben in 2014. Her favorite orders are the demanding ones: "Spezielle und ausgeflippte Kombinationen sind genau ihr Ding", special and wild combinations are exactly her thing. For couples with an unusual color scheme or a bold idea, that is a promising sign.

Sabrina first worked at the shop in 2013, then trained as an activity therapist (Aktivierungsfachfrau HF), and now helps out in the shop every Friday.

Linda works part time, steps in when there is an emergency, and is called the shop's "Bedienungskönigin", queen of customer service, because she loves talking with people.

The about page also carries this line: "Eine Blume macht sich keine Gedanken, ob sie mit den Blumen neben ihr mithalten kann, sie blüht einfach" (a flower does not worry whether it can keep up with the flowers next to it, it simply blooms).

Contact, hours and payment

The address is Murgstrasse 9, 8500 Frauenfeld. The shop can be reached by phone or WhatsApp on 052 720 96 66, by email at info@blumengraben.ch, or through a contact form, which asks for a name, email, phone number, address and town, so a full postal address is needed even for a first question. The homepage also offers the current product catalog through WhatsApp. For wedding consultations, the wedding page asks couples to phone for a personal appointment, and the contact page says the team looks forward to advising customers by phone or in person in the shop.

Opening hours are Monday closed, Tuesday to Friday 9.00 to 18.30, and Saturday 9.00 to 16.00.

The footer on every page gives details for advance payment, from Switzerland and from abroad ("Inland und Ausland"), to an account at Thurgauer Kantonalbank with IBAN and BIC. It adds "wir bevorzugen Bitcoin" (we prefer Bitcoin), and offers a QR code for payment with Twint. For a couple living abroad, the international bank details and the WhatsApp line make the practical side straightforward.

What the site does not settle

The site publishes no prices for wedding flowers or for the hire items. It gives no lead time for booking and no minimum order. It says the team delivers and decorates on site, but it does not say how far from Frauenfeld it will travel. The site is in German and does not mention English; with WhatsApp and email both available, a short written message is an easy way to find out.

Who it suits

Blumen Graben suits couples marrying in and around Frauenfeld who want one florist to handle the church, the car, the apéro and the restaurant, and who like the idea of the flowers following them from the ceremony to the reception. The owner's stated love of unusual combinations suits couples with a distinctive style, and the hire range saves buying lanterns and vases.

It is a less obvious choice for couples who want prices and packages set out online, or for weddings far from Thurgau, where travel for setup needs to be agreed first.
