Blumenladen Zürich

Tap a star to rate

Blumenladen Zürich is the Zurich flower shop and delivery service of Floradesign GmbH, and its site presents flowers for weddings, events, hotels, funerals and hospitals. For weddings the offer is short and specific: the team decorates the church or the restaurant to the couple's wishes anywhere in Zurich and then takes the arrangements down again. For a couple marrying in the city who want the flowers set up and cleared away by the same people, that is the main reason to call, though the site is German-only and publishes no prices.

The wedding service

The wedding section is headed "Ihre Hochzeit: Sie planen Ihren schönsten Tag?", your wedding, are you planning your big day. It says everything should be special and unique for a wedding, including the festive flower decoration in the church or in the restaurant. The key sentence is "Wir dekorieren die Hochzeit nach Ihren Wünschen in ganz Zürich und bauen die Blumen-Arrangements wieder ab": the shop decorates the wedding as you wish anywhere in Zurich and dismantles the flower arrangements again afterward.

That teardown is worth noting. It means a couple does not have to find someone to clear the church or restaurant after the event, which matters most for couples who are not local and have no friends or family on hand to help.

A longer section further down, "Alles für Ihre Hochzeit" (everything for your wedding), says the best way to start is to book an appointment for a personal conversation, by phone on 044 251 16 80 or through the contact form. It repeats the promise to decorate and dismantle, and closes with a line on timing: "Wenn wir Ihre Wünsche eine Woche vor der Hochzeit kennen, klappt alles bestens", if the shop knows your wishes a week before the wedding, everything works out well. That is a short lead time by the standards of many florists, but it refers to the final order, and a couple should still book the date itself well ahead.

The site does not list the individual wedding items (bridal bouquet, buttonholes, table pieces and so on) in the wedding section. Elsewhere it mentions that, to order, the shop makes Biedermeier posies, small hair wreaths ("Haarkränzchen") and buttonholes ("Anstecker"), in that case for Zurich's spring festival and its guilds, so these are clearly within its range.

Events, setup and the wider business

The events section is relevant to larger weddings because it describes how the shop works on bigger jobs. It says Floradesign offers "aussergewöhnliche Floristik zu einem exzellenten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis", exceptional floristry at excellent value, and calls itself "Dienstleister aus Leidenschaft", a service provider out of passion. For corporate events it offers everything from single table arrangements to elaborate room designs, support during planning, prompt setup and dismantling, and a written quote on request.

The shop also offers what it calls "Floristik-Catering", which it explains as delivering flowers and plants with a strong focus on service, and a delivery service it runs itself across Zurich for quality reasons ("Aus Qualitätsgründen liefern wir selbstverständlich den Blumenstrauss in ganz Zürich selbst aus"). Other lines named on the site are funeral flowers, Advent wreaths and Christmas arrangements, bouquets for birthdays and anniversaries, silk flowers made with attention to natural detail, and deliveries to Zurich hospitals and cemeteries, with named clinics and a long list of cemeteries.

Where the shop works

The site describes its delivery area as the whole of Zurich plus Zumikon, Zollikon, Zollikerberg, Küsnacht and Erlenbach. It also runs several other websites under the same business: Floradesign.ch, blumenladen-zumikon.ch, a full gallery of its work at floradesign.info, trauerkranz-zürich.ch and blumen-dolder.ch for Küsnacht, and describes an online flower shop for the Lake Zurich region. The gallery site is the place to look at examples of past work before getting in touch.

For a wedding outside the city and the towns named, the site does not say whether the team will travel to decorate, so a couple with a venue further out should ask.

Contact and hours

Orders and advice are handled by phone on 044 251 16 80, from abroad +41 44 251 16 80. The phone hours listed are Tuesday to Friday 09:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 18:00, and Saturday 09:00 to 15:00; no phone hours are listed for Sunday or Monday. The site also gives e-mail addresses, welcome@floradesign.ch and verkauf@floradesign.ch (sales), and a contact form, which is often the easier route for a couple in another time zone.

What the site does not settle

The website is in German and says nothing about which languages the team speaks. A couple who do not speak German should write first, in English if necessary, and ask whether the consultation can be held in English.

There are no prices on the site for wedding decoration, and no example packages. The site does not state a minimum order, a delivery charge or deposit terms, and it does not say how far ahead a wedding date needs to be reserved (the one-week line covers knowing the couple's wishes, not booking). It does not say whether the setup and teardown service costs extra or is included in the price of the flowers.

Useful questions for a first message:

  • Can the consultation and correspondence be in English?
  • What does a typical wedding decoration for a church and a restaurant include, and roughly what does it cost?
  • Is the dismantling charged separately, and at what time can the team come back after the event?
  • How far outside Zurich does the team travel to decorate?
  • Which examples in the floradesign.info gallery are weddings?

Who it suits

Blumenladen Zürich suits couples marrying in a church or restaurant in Zurich or in the lake towns the shop names, who want one florist to decorate and to clear up afterward. The events background, with room designs and prompt setup and dismantling, makes it a reasonable fit for a larger celebration as well as a small one, and the gallery site lets a couple judge the style before calling.

It is less convenient for a couple who want published prices or an itemized wedding list before making contact, or who need confirmation of English from the start. The first step is always a phone call or an e-mail and, ideally, an appointment in person.
