DAHRA

DAHRA is a flowers, interiors, fragrance and events business on Via della Posta in Lugano, founded on 21 September 1995 by Maurizio Romano. Its events arm, DAHRA Flowers and Events, designs weddings as complete productions covering location, lighting, music, the layout of the space and the flowers. For a couple marrying in Ticino who want one studio to shape the whole look of the day, it is a design-led option with a long local history; the website is in Italian and publishes no prices.
Who DAHRA is
The About page (Chi siamo) opens with "D A H R A è LIVING" and describes the business as an oasis of fresh white flowers, heady scents, plants and welcoming home atmospheres, in a street in the heart of Lugano that it says has been turned into a jungle.
"Dal 1995", the page continues, DAHRA has served Lugano families and others with the transformation of their spaces (homes, offices, hotels, boutiques), the organization of private and commercial events, and floral compositions for every occasion. "Oggi, dopo quasi 30 anni di attività, DAHRA accoglie e realizza le richieste delle terze generazioni": after almost 30 years, it now takes on requests from a third generation of clients. The page describes DAHRA as "l’evoluzione nello stile, nel servizio e nei prodotti" (the evolution in style, service and products), always faithful to a concept of beauty in which elegance and class are the cornerstones.
The founder's story is told briefly. DAHRA was born in Lugano on 21 September 1995 from the experience, creativity and passion of Maurizio Romano. He grew up professionally in Brera, in a Milan "fatta di tessuti, profumi e arredamento", made of fabrics, scents and furnishings, and developed his personal style in the world of the fashion house ETRO under the guidance of its founder. Today, the page says, DAHRA covers interior design, flowers, home and terrace styling, fragrances for home and body, and event organization.
How DAHRA approaches a wedding
The events page (Eventi) sets out the approach in theatrical terms: "Un evento DAHRA è come uno spettacolo teatrale." A DAHRA event is like a theater show. On stage the protagonists take over the scene, and every detail counts: location, lighting, music, the setting of the spaces and the floral decoration. "Nulla è mai lasciato al caso", nothing is ever left to chance.
The process is described step by step:
- The meeting. "Tutto ha inizio con l’incontro." DAHRA gets to know the client's personality and needs and leaves room for them to describe their taste and intentions.
- Location and theme. "Insieme si sceglie la location, il tema dell’evento": the location and the theme of the event are chosen together.
- The visual concept. The page says DAHRA builds an empathetic relationship with its clients and outlines a visual concept while stimulating their imagination.
- Cost and timing. "A progetto definito insieme si discutono costo e tempistiche": once the project is agreed, cost and timing are discussed.
It ends with the idea that, as in a theater, the guests should not notice what happens behind the scenes, and the result should be exclusive and moving. For a couple this describes a full design service rather than an order of bouquets: DAHRA takes part in choosing the location and the theme, and prices come after the concept.
The wedding styles
The events page shows a gallery of wedding looks, each called a "mood":
- Luxury Mood: a wedding in a historic villa, with fresh flower compositions taking center stage.
- Romantic Mood: soft lights, rose petals and candles, with vows under a canopy.
- Winter Wedding: candles and soft light in the snow.
- Autumn Wedding: golden leaves and warm colors, again with a canopy for the vows.
- White & Blue Mood: a wedding in pale blue, with the color running from the couple's clothes to the flowers.
- Black & White Mood: the contrast of pure white and deep black.
- Shabby Chic: pastel shades with retro furniture and decoration.
- Rustico: solid wooden tables and country-style decoration.
- Light Pink Mood: soft pink flowers and gentle light.
- Gothic Mood: strong decoration with a dark romantic mood.
- Garden Mood: a wedding in a garden, under a canopy of greenery and scented flowers.
- Aziendali: corporate events.
Each has its own photo gallery. Together they show the range of styles DAHRA works in, from formal villa weddings to rustic and garden settings. The descriptions are mood pieces rather than package descriptions: they do not say what is included or name the venues pictured.
The shops and contact
The footer lists three addresses on Via della Posta: DAHRA Flowers and Events at Via della Posta 3, DAHRA Perfumes and Accessories at Via della Posta 2, and DAHRA Home at Via della Posta 3a, all in 6900 Lugano. The phone number is +41 91 922 23 20. The menu also has a contact page (Contatti), a page on why to choose DAHRA (Perchè DAHRA), a perfume section with niche and home fragrances, a furnishing section, and a journal (Cronache di DAHRA) with articles on candles, the meaning of rose colors and fragrances.
A journal article says Via della Posta was reborn thanks to DAHRA's furnishings, plants and flowers, and that with the arrival of new bars and restaurants it has become the city's main street for locals and tourists. The site does not describe how to reach the shops or where to park.
What the site does not settle
The website is in Italian, with a few English headings such as the style names. It does not say whether the team works in English or other languages. A couple who do not speak Italian should ask in their first contact.
There are no prices, no example budgets and no minimum spend; cost is discussed only once the concept is agreed. The site does not say how far ahead a wedding should be booked, whether DAHRA works outside Ticino, whether it offers flowers alone without the full design service, or how deposits and changes are handled. It also does not name the venues shown in the galleries.
Questions for the first contact:
- Can the planning be done in English?
- Do you take on flowers only, or only complete event designs?
- Which venues have you worked at, and do you travel outside the Lugano area?
- How far ahead should we book, and how is the fee structured?
Who it suits
DAHRA suits couples marrying in or around Lugano who want a studio to design the whole atmosphere of the day, including location, light, music and flowers, and who enjoy a collaborative creative process. Its long local history and background in fashion and interiors show in the range of styles it presents.
It is less suited to a couple who want a simple, fixed-price flower order, or who need prices and an English-language service confirmed before the first meeting.
