A florist in a park in Locarno

Fiori Mela SAGL is a florist's shop and atelier at Via Lavizzari 2, 6600 Locarno, in Ticino. Its homepage tagline is "Fiori che attraggono la felicità" (flowers that attract happiness), and its events and weddings page lists a full set of wedding pieces, from the bridal bouquet to the decoration of the church, the restaurant and the reception, plus decorated cars and a rental service for vases, arches and pedestals.

The shop opened in September 2008. The homepage puts it this way: "Dal settembre 2008 è nato il nuovo negozio nel cuore di Locarno a pochi minuti a piedi dal centro" (since September 2008 the new shop has been in the heart of Locarno, a few minutes on foot from the center). The atelier page adds that while the business began in 2008 it draws on long experience in floral decoration ("vanta una lunga esperienza nel campo delle decorazioni floreali").

The setting is the unusual part. The shop sits in the park of the Palazzo Panorama, and the site says its large windows give the impression of living inside the park. The name, according to the atelier page, comes from the meeting of an apple (mela) and a daisy, symbols of prosperity and simplicity that the shop takes as its motto.

The wedding list

The weddings section of the page is a straightforward list, which translates as follows:

  • Bouquet Sposa: the bridal bouquet;
  • Bottoniere Sposo: the groom's boutonniere;
  • Braccialetti: floral bracelets;
  • Coroncine: small floral crowns;
  • Portafedi floreali: floral ring holders for the ceremony;
  • floral decoration of churches, restaurants, tables and candy bars, and setting up the reception ("allestimento ricevimento");
  • floral decoration of vehicles;
  • rental of vases, arches, pedestals and more ("Noleggio vasi, archi, piedistalli, e altro").

Above the list the page sets out its intent: "Ci impegniamo a creare per ogni festeggiamento il fiore più particolare adatto all'occasione" (we set out to create, for every celebration, the most distinctive flower suited to the occasion). The wedding gallery is sorted the same way, with sections for couples, bracelets and ring holders, church decoration and restaurant decoration, so a couple can look at past work for exactly the piece they are planning.

The rental line is useful for couples from abroad. Arches, pedestals and vases are awkward to source when you do not live locally, and here they come from the same shop that does the flowers. The site does not publish rental prices or say how items are delivered and collected.

How booking works

The site has a "Prenota il nostro servizio" (book our service) page with a request form. It says a request will be confirmed within 12 hours, and that for urgent matters you should call +41 91 751 82 76. The form asks for:

  • name, phone, e-mail and address;
  • the delivery or pickup date;
  • delivery to an address or collection from the shop;
  • the flowers, colors and tones wanted;
  • the theme (weddings is one of the options) and whether it is a bouquet or an arrangement;
  • a card, with a white card at CHF 2 and other cards at CHF 5, and the card text;
  • a budget, either all-inclusive or for flowers only, in francs;
  • how you want to pay, by TWINT or credit card.

The form states that the delivery cost depends on the destination, with Locarno given as the example at CHF 8. The atelier page lists the cards accepted: Maestro, Postcard, Visa, Master, Twint, Diners, VPay, Union Pay and, in the footer, American Express. That breadth of card payment is practical for a couple paying from abroad.

The form is built around a single order rather than a whole wedding. For a full wedding, the budget fields and the notes box are where to describe the scope, but a conversation will be needed.

Delivery, parking and opening hours

The atelier page promises home delivery "in tutto il Locarnese, Gambarogno e Valli", across the Locarno area, the Gambarogno and the valleys. It names no individual villages, so a couple with a venue further up a valley or across the lake should confirm it is covered. The same page says there is parking in front of the shop, including spaces for disabled drivers.

The opening hours on the atelier page are Monday to Friday, 8.00 to 12.00 and 13.30 to 18.30, and Saturday 8.00 to 16.00. The homepage carries a notice that the atelier is closed from Saturday 1 August 2026 to Monday 17 August 2026, a point worth knowing for a couple planning a mid-August wedding.

Contact is by phone at +41 91 751 82 76, by e-mail at info@fiorimela.ch, or through the booking form. The site header also gives a separate emergency number, +41 78 730 23 14.

Beyond weddings

The same page covers other occasions: births and baptisms, birthdays, anniversaries and engagements, communions, confirmations and graduations, table decorations and company events. There is a mourning section, a home decoration range (dried and fresh compositions, natural plant candles, LED lamps and lanterns, vases by local craftspeople, and handmade scarves, socks and necklaces), and weekly, monthly or seasonal subscriptions with plants, flowers or dried and artificial compositions for offices, hospitals, banks and companies.

What the site does not say

The site is in Italian only, apart from the word "CLOSED" in the holiday notice. It does not say whether the team works in English or German, so a couple writing from abroad should ask. It also does not publish:

  • prices for bridal bouquets or any wedding decoration;
  • rental prices for arches, pedestals and vases;
  • how far in advance a wedding should be booked;
  • whether the team sets up at the church or restaurant on the day or only delivers;
  • delivery costs outside Locarno itself.

Who it suits

Fiori Mela suits a couple marrying in Locarno or the surrounding area who want one local shop to handle the bouquet, the church, the restaurant tables and the car, and to supply the vases and arches as well. The broad card acceptance and a booking form with explicit budget fields make first contact from abroad straightforward.

It suits less well a couple who want a fixed wedding package with published prices, or who are marrying outside the Locarnese, Gambarogno and valleys delivery area. For them the first step is a message setting out the date, venue and scope, and asking about language and delivery.
