La Canopée Créations

Tap a star to rate

La Canopée Créations is a florist in La Tour-de-Trême, near Bulle in the canton of Fribourg, run by Julie Zumkeller and specialized in dried flowers. Her workshop sits inside the Boutique Brocante at Rue Ancien Comté 80, where finished pieces are on sale, and she makes made-to-measure work for weddings and other events in dried flowers, and in fresh flowers or plants when a couple prefers. Dried arrangements can also be rented for an event. For a couple who like a country, bohemian or long-lasting look, and who are marrying around Bulle or can organize delivery from there, it is a distinctive option.

Julie Zumkeller and the studio

The "À propos" section is short and factual. Julie Zumkeller worked as an employed florist for 10 years and chose to go independent in 2019, which is when La Canopée began, specializing in dried flowers. Her workshop is in the Boutique Brocante of La Tour-de-Trême, "proche de Bulle" (close to Bulle), and it is there, she writes, that she makes made-to-measure dried-flower pieces according to the customer's wishes in colors and plants. For special events she is glad to take on a project with fresh flowers or plants.

The homepage describes the specialty in her own words: "Bienvenue dans mon univers floral, où je suis spécialisée dans la création de fleurs séchées." Each composition, she says, is designed to hold on to the lasting, timeless beauty of nature. She adds that dried flowers bring a flowery, rustic or even bohemian touch, and that they keep for a very long time: "quelques mois, voire plusieurs années" (a few months, even several years).

What she offers for weddings

The site names weddings directly. Julie Zumkeller writes that she also makes made-to-measure pieces with fresh flowers "pour des événements uniques, tels que mariages, anniversaires et célébrations spéciales" (for unique events such as weddings, birthdays and special celebrations). Whether a couple prefer the longevity of dried flowers or the brightness of fresh ones, she says she listens to what they want.

The service list gives the building blocks: events, wreaths and crowns (Couronnes), bell jars (Cloches), bouquets, arrangements, creative workshops, personalized creations, a subscription, weddings, made-to-measure decoration of spaces (Décor des espaces sur mesure) and themed parties. For a wedding, the made-to-measure decoration of spaces is the item closest to dressing a ceremony or reception venue, and the bell jars and wreaths are pieces that can double as keepsakes. The site does not describe what each of these includes, so a couple should read the list as the range to ask about rather than a set of fixed products.

Renting dried arrangements

The most unusual part of the offer is rental. For a wedding, a party, a business reception or another special occasion, the page says, a couple can rent a made-to-measure dried-flower arrangement. In the site's words, "En choisissant la location, vous profitez de créations d'exception tout en respectant une démarche éco-responsable" (by choosing rental, you enjoy exceptional pieces while following an eco-responsible approach).

The site does not explain the terms: how long the rental runs, who delivers and collects, what happens if a piece is damaged, or how rental prices compare with buying. Those are the first questions for a couple interested in this route. Dried flowers that keep for months also mean a couple who buy rather than rent can keep bouquets and arrangements after the day.

The shop, the stock and the workshops

A wide choice of dried-flower pieces is for sale in the shop at La Tour-de-Trême, and customers can order a personalized composition in the shop or by email. Dried flowers are also sold by the stem or loose, from what the site calls "la multitude des fleurs en stock" (the many flowers in stock). There is an online shop in the menu as well.

From time to time Julie Zumkeller runs a stand at markets, announced on her social media, and she offers creative workshops during the year for people who want to make their own pieces. The contact form lets visitors choose between a personalized creation, made-to-measure events and workshops as the subject of their request.

Hours, contact and booking

Opening hours are published: Monday to Friday 10h00 to 12h00 and 14h00 to 18h30, Saturday 10h00 to 16h00. The address is La Canopée Créations, Julie Zumkeller, Rue Ancien Comté 80, 1635 La Tour-de-Trême. Contact runs through the form on the site or the email address info@lacanopeecreations.ch; no phone number is printed in the contact section, although the form asks for the sender's.

For events, the page invites couples to ask for a personalized quote or an appointment, and says she would be happy to meet to talk it through in person. Instagram and Facebook show day-to-day work at the studio.

What the site does not settle

  • Prices. No prices for wedding work, rentals or workshops appear on the homepage.
  • Delivery and set-up. The site does not say whether she delivers, installs and collects at a wedding venue, or how far she travels.
  • Rental terms. Duration, deposit and damage rules are not published.
  • Lead time. There is no guidance on how far ahead to book wedding pieces, especially fresh flowers.
  • Languages. The site is in French only and mentions no other language.
  • Wedding portfolio. The site has a gallery link, but the homepage text gives no captioned examples of past weddings.

Who it suits

La Canopée Créations suits a couple who want dried flowers, or a mix of dried and fresh, and like the idea of pieces that last beyond the wedding or can be rented rather than bought. The shop at La Tour-de-Trême lets a couple see finished work in person, and the named, experienced florist with a clear specialty makes the conversation straightforward for anyone who can speak French.

The caveats: the offer is built around dried flowers, so a couple who want a large fresh-flower installation should confirm scope early; the site publishes no prices or delivery terms; and it is in French only. For a wedding around Bulle with a rustic or bohemian style, those are easy points to clear in a first email.
