Feierlenhof

Tap a star to rate

The Feierlenhof is a family fruit farm in Altnau, by Lake Constance, where weddings, wedding apéros and birthday parties are held in the middle of the orchards. It is run by the Barth family as what the site calls a Generationengemeinschaft, a community of generations living and working on the farm, and it suits couples who want a relaxed, rural celebration under the trees with the farm's own food.

The farm

The home page opens with "Herzlich willkommen am Bodensee, herzlich willkommen auf dem Feierlenhof!" (welcome to Lake Constance, welcome to the Feierlenhof) and explains that the family grows fruit sustainably. "Mitten in diesen Obstbäumen lässt es sich hervorragend feiern" (right in the middle of these fruit trees is a wonderful place to celebrate), whether at a wedding or a birthday party or on holiday.

The farm puts its size in figures on the home page: 53275 fruit trees, 14 animal species, 3 holiday flats and 115 products in the farm shop. Each member of the family, the site says, knows a different "Besten Platz" (best spot): the children recommend the big playground, the dwarf goats and other small animals for family holidays, the middle generation has ideas for active days among the apple trees, hikes and bike rides, and Reinhard knows the most beautiful spots for relaxing by the lake or in the countryside.

The farm also runs a farm shop and a gift crate with produce "direkt vom Feld, aus der Hof-Küche sowie aus der Region" (straight from the field, from the farm kitchen and from the region), offers tree sponsorships through which a whole apple tree becomes yours, and takes part in SchuB, a school-on-the-farm program for children. The farm also holds public days: the home page announced an Öpfelchüechli-tag (apple fritter day) on a Sunday in September from 11 to 16, and the news section mentions seasonal baking and redesigned gift vouchers. For a couple who can visit before booking, one of these days is an easy way to see the orchards and taste the food.

Weddings under the trees

The site's navigation has a section called "Feiern" (celebrations) and "Feiern auf dem Feierlenhof", and the home page makes clear that weddings are part of what the farm does. The evidence is mostly in the guest comments the farm publishes, and they are specific.

Stephanie and Maykel wrote in May 2025 to thank the team for their "grossartigen Einsatz an unserer Zivilhochzeit" (great effort at our civil wedding), adding that the service was top, the food super tasty and everything warm and professional. Noemi and Philipp wrote in June 2022 that it was an absolutely perfect day for them, and that they and their guests enjoyed everything from A to Z. Tabea and Raphael Morgenthaler thanked the farm in June 2016 for a lovely wedding apéro, saying their guests were still talking about the view, the play options for children, the tasty apéro food and the attentive service.

Other comments come from birthday parties, a class reunion, a team event and a hiking group, and they describe the same things: tables set under the trees, buffets, and relaxed service. Silvia Jäger wrote in August 2021 that the weather helped the atmosphere "unter den Bäumen" (under the trees). Wisi and Ruth Artho praised a birthday party in May 2017 for the food, the easy-going service and the location "mit Sicht auf den Bodensee" (with a view of Lake Constance).

Food from the farm kitchen

The farm cooks for its events, and the comments give an idea of the style. A hiking group in April 2021 was served at a long table under the cherry trees, with a salad buffet followed by St. Galler bratwurst with Rösti. A team event in June 2023 raved about the lukewarm Wähen, the Swiss savory and sweet tarts. A class reunion in July 2017 praised an apéro buffet where every small bite was carefully presented, and noted that the team had arranged a dry spot in good time. Other guests mention a buffet, a brunch on the Swiss national day, and baked goods such as Florentines and Birreweggli from the shop.

This is farmhouse cooking, generous and seasonal, rather than a restaurant tasting menu. The site does not publish wedding menus or prices, and it does not list dietary options, so those are questions for the family.

Where guests can stay

The farm has 3 holiday flats, and guests in the comments describe breakfast baskets and tables set with care. It also runs the Thurgauer Bubble Hotel, transparent domes for sleeping under the open sky, which the news section says won an award from Holidaycheck. Guests describe watching the stars from bed, a sunrise, a breakfast served beside the domes, a hut with an electric heater for bad weather, and E-bikes for exploring the area. For a wedding couple, a night in a bubble on the farm is an unusual way to end the day, and the flats can take family members.

What the site does not settle

The site gives no guest numbers for weddings, no prices, no end time and no description of an indoor space for bad weather, although one guest's comment shows the team finding a dry place when needed. It does not describe a ceremony area or say what kind of ceremony can be held. There is a "So finden Sie uns" (how to find us) page for directions, but the home page gives only the village, 8595 Altnau. The site is in German only and does not say whether the family works in English.

Contact is by phone on 071 695 23 72 or by email at info@feierlenhof.ch.

Who it suits

The Feierlenhof suits couples who want an informal wedding or wedding apéro in an orchard by Lake Constance, with home cooking, space for children to play among animals, and a family who has hosted many parties on the farm. The flats and the Bubble Hotel make a weekend of it possible for a few guests. It suits less well a couple who needs a formal hall, a guaranteed indoor plan for a large group, a published price list, or a team confirmed to plan in English.
