Klostergut Paradies

Tap a star to rate

Klostergut Paradies is a historic monastery estate at Klostergutstrasse 4 in Schlatt, run as a foundation of the industrial group Georg Fischer AG, and it hosts weddings that move from a ceremony under old trees to a banquet in its renovated refectory. It suits couples planning a wedding for 40 to 120 guests who want a historic setting, a weather plan built in, and a team that organizes the rest.

Who runs it

The contact page lists the estate as "Klostergut Paradies, Stiftung der Georg Fischer AG" (Klostergut Paradies, a foundation of Georg Fischer AG). The imprint names Georg Fischer AG in Schaffhausen as responsible for the site. The same address in Schlatt is also home to the Eisenbibliothek (Iron Library), another Georg Fischer foundation, and the estate runs a seminar center with its own rooms and catering pages. Weddings and other celebrations sit in a section of the site called "Feste feiern" (celebrating), in English "Celebrate in Paradise".

The rest of the site fills in the picture. The navigation has pages on the estate's history, the foundation, its location and its team, and a mindfulness path (Achtsamkeitsweg) laid out on the grounds. The seminar center lists a range of rooms and a culinary offering of its own, and the celebrations section covers other private parties as well as weddings, each with its own inquiry page. The imprint adds that Georg Fischer AG is a company registered in the canton of Schaffhausen, represented by its CEO, Andreas Müller. None of these pages is about weddings as such, but together they describe an estate set up to host groups, not one that opens only for the occasional party.

That makes Klostergut Paradies an unusual kind of wedding venue: not a hotel or a family business, but a corporate foundation's estate that opens for private celebrations alongside meetings and seminars.

The wedding day as the site describes it

The wedding page opens with a play on words: "Heiraten im Paradies!" (getting married in Paradise, the estate's name). It adds that it cannot offer a thousand and one nights, but it does offer a thousand and one good reasons to let the team plan and host the celebration. The page then walks through the day, and the sequence is the clearest guide to what the estate offers.

The ceremony outdoors. Couples say their vows "unter dem Himmelsdach, umgeben von wunderschöner Natur" (under the open sky, surrounded by beautiful nature).

The apéro under the trees. Afterwards guests enjoy an Apéro Riche, a generous standing apéritif, "unter den eindrücklichen und prächtigen Bäumen" (under the impressive and magnificent trees). The page suggests taking a moment to sense the legends that surround them.

Photos in the park. Then come the photographs "auf der blühenden Wiese des Parks" (on the flowering meadow of the park).

The banquet. The party moves to the Refektorium, the refectory, which the English page calls renovated. The tables, or a single large block table, are set all in white for a party "von 40 bis 120 Personen" (of 40 to 120 people) for the wedding banquet.

A plan for bad weather

The page has a clear answer for rain: "Auch bei unbeständigem Wetter haben wir für Sie eine romantische Alternative" (even in unsettled weather we have a romantic alternative for you). The ceremony then moves indoors, into a hall the couple decorates, and the Apéro Riche moves "im historischen Kreuzgang des Klosterguts Paradies" (into the historic cloister of the Klostergut Paradies). For couples planning from abroad, who cannot move the date at short notice, having an indoor ceremony room and a covered cloister on the same estate is a real reassurance.

What the estate takes care of

The page ends with a promise: "Vertrauen Sie auf uns: Alles andere machen wir für Sie" (trust us, we will take care of everything else). It names the ingredients as a beautiful setting, culinary variety, and a "Rahmenprogramm nach Ihren Wünschen" (a supporting program to your wishes). The site's seminar center has a separate catering page, and the wedding page presents the banquet and its culinary variety as part of what the estate provides.

The page also says there are still free dates for the coming wedding season, and invites couples to book.

How to get in touch

The contact form asks for a preferred date and alternatives, plus name, address, email and phone. The estate can be reached on +41 52 547 12 32 or +41 79 647 77 19, and the contact page offers a directions map to download. The wedding page exists in German and English, and the English version, though a little rough in places, covers the same content. The site does not say whether the events team works in English, but a couple writing in English will at least find the offer described in English.

What the site does not settle

The wedding page is short, and it leaves out several things:

  • Prices. No prices for the rooms, the banquet or the apéro.
  • Menus. The page mentions culinary variety but shows no wedding menu.
  • Ceremony. It does not say what kind of ceremony can take place in the open air or in the indoor hall, or who conducts it.
  • Capacity outdoors. The 40 to 120 figure refers to the banquet in the refectory; no separate figures are given for the ceremony or the apéro.
  • Timing. No end time or rules on music.
  • Getting there. Beyond the address and the directions map, no public transport, parking or airport information.
  • Accommodation. No rooms for guests are mentioned on the wedding page.

Who it suits

Klostergut Paradies suits couples who want a historic, calm estate in Schlatt, a ceremony outdoors with a proper indoor fallback, and a white-set banquet for 40 to 120 guests with a team that handles the organization. It suits less well a very small wedding under 40, a party of more than 120, or a couple who wants to compare prices online before making contact. Guests from abroad will need a plan for overnight stays, since the page does not mention any.
