A Hotel and Restaurant in the Sertig Valley Above Davos
Walserhuus is a hotel and restaurant on Sertigerstrasse 34 in 7272 Davos Clavadel, in the Sertig valley of Graubünden, run by the company Walserhuus Sertig AG. The site's About section introduces the Biäsch family, and the house advertises itself as open 365 days a year. It hosts weddings alongside its everyday hotel and restaurant business, and its wedding page is short and warm rather than detailed.
That page opens with a line that matters for anyone planning around the seasons: "Ob Sommer oder Winter, erleben Sie Ihre Traumhochzeit bei uns im Sertig" (summer or winter, celebrate your wedding with us in the Sertig). So the house presents weddings as a year-round offer, not a summer-only business. Combined with the 365-day opening, that makes it one of the more flexible options for a couple from abroad who can only travel on a particular date.
The practical upside for a destination wedding is that the hotel has rooms of several kinds under the same roof, so guests who fly in can sleep where the party is.
What the Wedding Page Offers
The wedding page is written in German and makes three concrete points.
First, planning help. The house writes "Gerne beraten wir Sie und helfen Ihnen bei der Planung" (we are glad to advise you and help you with the planning). That is an offer of personal advice from the hotel itself, not a separate planning service with a price attached.
Second, food from its own kitchen. The line is "Verwöhnen Sie Ihre Gäste mit Köstlichkeiten aus unserer Küche" (treat your guests to good things from our kitchen). Catering at Walserhuus comes from the hotel's own restaurant kitchen. The page does not say whether an outside caterer or a couple's own cake or wine is allowed, so that is worth asking.
Third, the wine cellar. The Weinkeller is the one space the page describes in any detail, and it is named for three moments of the day: the ceremony, the apéro, and the end of the celebration. The wording is "Ob für die spezielle Trauung, den Apéro oder für den Ausklang Ihres Festes, in unserem Weinkeller werden sich Ihre Gäste wohl fühlen" (whether for a special ceremony, the apéro or the close of your party, your guests will feel at ease in our wine cellar). A ceremony here would be a symbolic or free ceremony that the couple arranges; the page does not mention a civil registrar.
The page also offers a document titled "Dokumentation Ihre Traumhochzeit im Walserhuus", a wedding information pack, which is the obvious first thing to request. It ends with "Wir freuen uns von Ihnen zu hören" (we look forward to hearing from you).
The Spaces and the Rooms
The restaurant section of the site lists three areas: Lokalitäten (the dining rooms), Weinkeller (the wine cellar) and Terrasse und Garten (terrace and garden). The terrace and garden give an outdoor option for an apéro or a summer meal. The site gives no seat counts for any of these areas and no floor plan, so a couple has to ask which room fits their guest list and whether the house can be booked exclusively.
The hotel side lists Zimmer & Suiten (rooms and suites), a Ferienwohnung (holiday apartment), a 6-Bett-Zimmer (a room with six beds) and a Touristenlager (a dormitory). That spread is useful for a wedding party with mixed budgets: the couple and parents in a suite, friends sharing the six-bed room or the dormitory. The site also links to an offer page under the TOP3STARHOTELS name. Room numbers and nightly rates are not on the wedding page.
The restaurant section carries menus and several recurring food events: a breakfast and a 1. August brunch (Swiss National Day), a game buffet (Wildbuffet) and a Metzgetä, a traditional butchering feast. These say something about the kind of cooking the kitchen does: regional, hearty and seasonal rather than fine dining.
Opening Hours, Seasons and Getting There
The footer gives the hours: open 365 days from 07:30 to 23:00, with hot food from 11:30 to 20:30. For a wedding that means breakfast is there for overnight guests, and it raises one clear question: whether a private party can run past 23:00. The site does not say, and a couple planning dancing into the night should get that answer in writing.
The site has a page titled Anreise & Kontakt (arrival and contact) and a webcam, but the wedding page itself does not describe the journey. Couples should read the arrival page or ask how guests without a car reach Davos Clavadel, whether the hotel can help with transfers, and where cars park.
The site also has separate activity pages for Sommer and Winter, plus a Jahreskalender (annual calendar), which fits the summer-or-winter line on the wedding page. What the page does not settle is how each season changes a wedding in practice: whether the garden is usable in winter, how late it gets dark, or what happens to an outdoor apéro if it rains. A couple coming from abroad, with no feel for a mountain valley in November, should ask the hotel to walk them through their exact date.
Booking, Language and Contact
Everything about weddings on the site is in German, and the navigation shown here is German only. That does not tell you whether the staff speak English; it is simply a question to ask before booking. The contact details on the page are the landline +41 (0)81 410 60 30, the mobile +41 (0)76 627 23 83 and the email info@walserhuus.ch. The site also has a Buchungsanfrage (booking request) section with forms to book a room or reserve a table, plus Allgemeine Geschäftsbedingungen (general terms and conditions), which is where deposit and cancellation rules would sit.
The site publishes no wedding prices, packages or per-person menu rates. Expect a tailored quote after the first conversation.
Photographs on the page are credited in part to Kerstin Aubry (www.photo-kunst.ch) and Martin Mägli (www.naturbild.ch). They are credits for the images, not recommended wedding photographers.
Who It Suits
Walserhuus suits a couple who want a mountain wedding in a small, family-run house, where the hotel's own kitchen cooks, guests stay on site and the date can fall in any season. It fits groups that like the idea of an apéro or a ceremony in a wine cellar and a meal in a regional restaurant more than a ballroom.
The caveats are real. The wedding page is brief, with no capacities, no prices and no English text, so a couple from abroad does most of the finding out by email or phone. The site does not state its late-night rules, whether exclusive use is possible, or how guests arrive from the airport. And a house that is a working hotel and restaurant every day of the year may not be the right choice for a very large party that wants the whole place to itself; that has to be confirmed directly.
For an intimate celebration in the Sertig with guests staying overnight, it is a straightforward, personal option.
