Bauernhofevent Oberamsig
Tap a star to rate
Bauernhofevent Oberamsig is an event farm at Oberamsig, 6019 Sigigen, in the municipality of Ruswil in the canton of Lucerne, run by the family of farmer Toni Seeholzer. It hosts weddings, company events, birthday and family parties, class reunions, seminars and outings for care-home residents, and it cooks for all of them from its own farm kitchen. The pitch is one household doing everything: the apéro, the decoration, the food and the clearing up.
The site's welcome line lists what the farm organizes, from its farm games to weddings, "ganz nach Ihren Wünschen und Vorstellungen" (entirely to your wishes and ideas). It adds "Möge Ihre Idee noch so speziell sein, wir bieten alles aus einer Hand an" (however unusual your idea, we provide everything from one source). For a couple planning from abroad, that means a single contact for venue, catering and flowers instead of three or four separate suppliers.
The Ceremony: Village Church or the Hill
The wedding section gives two ceremony options.
The first is the church in Sigigen. The farm describes the village's "hübschen Kirche" (pretty church) as a long-standing favorite for weddings, and says that its size, modern style and very good road access meet many of a couple's wishes. The farm does not run the church; it describes it as the village church nearby. A church wedding is arranged with the parish, and the site does not say whether the family helps with that.
The second is outdoors on the farm's own ridge, which the site describes as having a wide, open view. It names several spots: the meadow, under the linden tree, or a place on the farm of the couple's choosing. The farm also organizes bad-weather alternatives for an outdoor ceremony, and the wedding page says that, sun or rain, its buildings give it a lot of flexibility. The site does not offer a civil ceremony on the farm; an outdoor ceremony here is a free or symbolic one.
The Apéro, Up to 300 Guests
This is where the farm's numbers are most generous. The wedding page says its buildings can take up to 300 people for an apéro even in bad weather. The farm organizes the whole apéro: flower decoration, preparation, drinks, food, service and clearing up. The page puts it plainly: "Sie geniessen es, wir arbeiten!" (you enjoy it, we do the work).
The apéro food is served from a straw-bale buffet (Strohballenbuffet). The listed items are cheese and meat platters, Mutschlis (small bread rolls), a party bread baked with the couple's names, sandwich bread, vegetable dips, Wähen (Swiss savory and sweet tarts), cheesecake, fruit baskets, pizza and grilled sausages, plus the couple's own requests.
The Partytenn for the Evening
For the wedding party in the evening, the farm uses the Partytenn, a converted barn room. The site gives it space for 30 to 200 people and describes it as "urgemütlich, hölzig, heimelig" (very cozy, wooden and homely). Seating is flexible: U-shape, rows, blocks or theater style, set to the couple's plan.
Decoration comes with the room. The farm offers seasonal flowers, mostly from its own farm garden, and the wedding page mentions fragrant flowers from the cottage garden on the tables. The Partytenn is also the room used for the farm's Christmas events, which gives an idea of the atmosphere: rustic and relaxed, not formal.
There is one rule a couple must know before booking. The farm sits at the edge of the village and asks guests to respect the neighbors, so evening events outdoors and any music entertainment have to be agreed with the family in advance. Couples planning a live band or late dancing outside should raise it in the first message.
Food From the Farm
The catering is the farm's own, and the site stresses products from the farm and the region. Menus are always self-service and "à discrétion" (as much as you like).
- Brunch, from 50 people: the Buurebrunch includes Rösti, bacon, fried eggs, several breads, Zopf (braided bread), yogurt, muesli, fruit salad, jams, honey, cheese and meat platters, milk, coffee and tea.
- Evening menus: the site suggests a barbecue (Grillfestival) with grilled vegetables, fried potatoes, risotto or Älplermagronen as sides, or Rösti with the farm's own bratwurst and onion sauce.
- Dessert: a homemade dessert buffet from the farm to close the meal.
This is farmhouse cooking, generous and regional. Couples wanting a plated fine-dining menu should ask whether the farm can do it; the site describes only buffet and self-service formats. It gives no information on vegetarian or allergy options.
Extras for Guests
The farm offers several activities that can be added to a wedding weekend:
- Rösslifahrten, horse-drawn carriage rides through Sigigen and up to the Emmerberg, with the site describing views over the Rottal toward the Napf, the Jura and the Central Swiss Alps. An apéro can be served on the wagon.
- Hofführung, a guided tour of the farm, with Toni answering general questions about agriculture. The farm keeps cows, chickens, pigs, rabbits, ducks, cats and a dog named Mona.
- Bauernhofolümpiade, the farm games, with a choice of disciplines. The listed events include cow milking, flag throwing, crossbow shooting, horseshoe throwing, nail driving, Swiss wrestling, cow-pat bingo, a milk-can race, boot throwing, a ski-bike race, sawing and blowpipe. The site names weddings among the occasions it suits, and prizes can come from the farm shop.
For older guests, the site mentions wheelchair-accessible facilities and a wheelchair-suitable carriage ride in the context of care-home outings.
What the Site Does Not Settle
The farm publishes no prices; the site offers a no-obligation quote instead ("unverbindliche Offerte"). It mentions no overnight rooms, so guests coming from abroad should plan to stay elsewhere and ask the family which hotels they recommend. It does not describe how to get to Sigigen by public transport or where guests park. The whole site is in German, and it does not say whether the family works in English. A couple coming from abroad should ask each point in writing.
Contact and Who It Suits
Contact is through the form on the site, by email at fam.seeholzer@bluewin.ch or by phone on 041 495 29 63.
Oberamsig suits a couple who want a relaxed countryside wedding with farm food, flowers from the garden and games in the yard, and who like having one family handle the apéro and the party. It fits large apéros up to 300 and dinners up to 200. It suits less well a couple wanting a formal black-tie dinner, loud music outdoors late at night, or guests sleeping on site.
