Hotel Rigi
Tap a star to rate
Hotel Rigi, which signs its pages Seminar-Hotel Rigi, is a hotel at Seestrasse 53/57 in Weggis on Lake Lucerne that hosts banquets and weddings alongside its seminar business. Couples can hold the celebration and put the wedding party up in the same place, spread across three hotel buildings. Its banquet page is headed "Feste feiern wie sie fallen" (celebrate the occasions as they come), and every page carries the line "Inspiration am See" (inspiration by the lake).
The wedding section lists the elements the hotel can bring together: a ceremony on the lakeshore, a boat trip on the lake, an apéro, a festive dinner, and overnight rooms for the wedding party. The banquet page adds that the couple's wishes and ideas come first and the hotel "organisiert alles Drumherum" (organizes everything around them). For guests flying in from abroad, the useful point is that rooms and the celebration are handled by the same house.
Wedding ceremonies and sequences
For a lakeside ceremony, you exchange vows at the water's edge. The hotel then can organize a boat excursion on Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) so guests see the landscape and the moment settles. After that comes the aperitif, and then the formal wedding dinner. Overnight accommodation at the hotel is available for the wedding party, meaning guests can stay in their rooms, rest, and be ready for festivities the next day if you plan them. The page invites couples to tell the hotel their wishes ("erzählen Sie uns Ihre Träume") and says the team will make them happen. It does not say who operates the boat trip or who officiates the lakeshore ceremony; the site does not offer a civil ceremony, so both are questions for the first conversation.
The site says the hotel will go through all options with you personally for weddings of up to 60 people. Groups larger than 60 are not mentioned on their wedding pages, so if you're planning something bigger, that's a question to ask when you inquire.
Dining and event spaces
Weddings and banquets can use one of three spaces depending on the season and group size. The Jade Banquet Hall seats 60 people and includes both a winter garden and a salon, giving you options within that one space. The restaurant seats 80 people. The garden also accommodates 80 people, and the restaurant page says meals move into the garden in warm summer weather. The hotel does not specify which space works best for weddings of different sizes, so you'll discuss that when you contact them.
For other celebrations (birthdays, corporate events, family gatherings), the same spaces are available. The page describes celebrations both "gross und exklusiv" and "klein und fein" (large and exclusive, or small and refined), without a fixed set program.
Guest rooms and pricing
The hotel has rooms in three buildings: the Botenhaus, the Rigihaus and the Seehaus. The Seehaus page says all its rooms were renovated in 2025, and that its double rooms have balconies with lake or mountain views.
Seehaus rooms include single rooms at CHF 130-143 per night, double rooms with mountain views at CHF 200-216, double rooms with lake views at CHF 236-248, a tower room at CHF 214-280 (bookable only directly by email), and multi-bed rooms at CHF 220-270 with mountain views, where some doubles can be extended to three or four beds for families and groups. Single rooms are 13-15 m², double rooms typically 18-21 m², and the tower room has 15 m² of sleeping space plus a 10 m² bathroom. The listed equipment includes parquet floors, a flat-screen TV with radio, shower and WC, hair dryer, a nonsmoking room policy, a desk, and lift access.
Botenhaus single rooms range from CHF 125-138 (village view) to CHF 130-143 (lake view). Double rooms run CHF 190-206 (village) to CHF 200-216 (lake view). These are described as modern and comfortable. Room sizes range from 14-16 m² for singles to 18-21 m² for doubles. Same amenities as Seehaus.
Rigihaus is the oldest building with the most modern rooms. Single rooms run CHF 110-120 (village view) to CHF 125-138 (lake view). Doubles are CHF 190-206 (village) to CHF 200-216 (lake). These are 10-15 m² for singles and 18-21 m² for doubles, with warm atmosphere and garden or village and lake views.
All rooms include a breakfast buffet, Wi-Fi, entry to the Weggis indoor pool and lido (Hallenbad/Lido), taxes, and service. A resort tax (Kurtaxe) is charged separately and not included in the rates.
Check-in is at 15:00 (3 p.m.) and checkout is at 10:00 a.m. The site notes you should plan accordingly on arrival day and departure day.
Dining and food
The hotel's restaurant is oriented toward seminars and group guests. Lunch is a hearty 3-course buffet in the 12:00 to 14:00 window, with the meal served at 12:30. Dinner is a light 3-course meal in the 18:00 to 21:00 window, served at 18:30. In warm summer months, fine weather meals are served in the garden with Mediterranean atmosphere.
The kitchen emphasizes regional and seasonal products. The hotel does not operate an à la carte restaurant, but staff will recommend options in Weggis and the surrounding area. A self-service cafeteria offers beverages throughout the day and night and snacks for work breaks and evening relaxation.
This matters for destination weddings because guests staying overnight can eat breakfast at the hotel and have dining organized for the evening, but they won't find a full restaurant menu in their rooms. If you want your guests to have flexibility to eat on their own schedule, you'll want to discuss what the hotel can arrange or what's available nearby.
Who it suits
Hotel Rigi works for couples bringing guests from abroad who want everything in one place. Your guests arrive, check into rooms with lake views, and the hotel team manages the logistics of the wedding day. It suits smaller weddings (the wedding section names up to 60 people) and works well for people who value convenience and a scenic lakeside setting over a distinctive barn or castle backdrop.
The location is Weggis on Lake Lucerne. The pages do not describe how to get there: no station, boat landing, parking or airport transfer is named, so guests flying in should ask the hotel for directions. The site is in German, and it does not say whether the team plans weddings in English; that is worth settling in the first email.
Room prices run from CHF 110-120 for the smallest Rigihaus single to CHF 214-280 for the tower room, per room and night, plus the resort tax. Couples and guests should budget for accommodations if people are sleeping over, and the cost of meals is separate from the room rates.
Contact and booking
The hotel is located at Seestrasse 53/57, CH-6353 Weggis. You can call +41 41 392 03 92 or email info@hotelrigi.ch. The site says to contact them to discuss your wedding and the possibilities, and they will walk you through the options. The site does not publish wedding package prices, so that's a conversation to have when you inquire.
