A restaurant and après-ski venue on the Verbier slopes
Le Rouge Restaurant & Après-Ski is a restaurant at Route de Ransou 37 in Verbier, Valais, at 1,550 meters according to its own page. It opened in 2008 and describes itself as a many-sided place, combining refinement, style and a relaxed welcome, with an interior of old wood, modern materials and sheepskins. By day its panoramic terrace serves traditional brasserie dishes to skiers and visitors; in the evening it serves a menu of fresh regional dishes to share; and in the après-ski hours, with resident DJs and internationally known artists, it turns into a party.
Its private hire page lists weddings ("Mariages") among the events it hosts, alongside birthdays, family reunions, cocktail evenings, banquets and company events, and says its flexible privatization options can take up to 300 guests.
The spaces and what they hold
The page on the venue says Le Rouge is very modular. It gives these figures:
- 2 sunny terraces with panoramic views, for up to 250 people seated
- the indoor space, for receptions of up to 300 people
- a table d'hôte for 18 people in the wine cellar
The private hire page explains how the spaces are used. The cellar is offered for a private dinner, a wine tasting or a business meeting. La Luge, which the page calls "un espace au sein du Rouge" (a space within Le Rouge), is a cozy chalet-style bar with a view from the terrace and the warmth of an open fire, suggested for a cocktail evening or a festive event and as a place to relax before or after a meal. The main restaurant is for a banquet, and the panoramic terrace for a cocktail. The page also says parts of the venue can be privatized, or the whole restaurant for an exclusive event.
For a wedding, that range works well: a small dinner in the cellar the night before, an aperitif on the terrace, the dinner in the main restaurant and the party in La Luge. The page does not say whether a ceremony can be held on the terrace or anywhere on site.
Food and wine
The private hire page describes "Notre cuisine raffinée" (our refined cuisine), made from fresh, local ingredients, with a menu that runs from local mountain specialties to more refined classics and comforting vegetarian options. The restaurant offers to create "un forfait personnalisé selon vos besoins" (a personalized package according to your needs). The site's menu has separate sections for the cuisine and for the wine cellar (La cave), but the private hire page does not publish a wedding menu, a price per person or a package price.
Setting and views
The venue page describes a 360-degree view over a cirque of mountains, from the Col des Mines to Pierre Avoi, by way of the Combins, the Dents du Midi and the Trient Glacier. The chalet décor, with wooden walls and soft lighting, is meant to create an intimate atmosphere, and the hire page speaks of a place that combines rustic mountain charm with modern sophistication.
Getting there
The venue page is detailed on access. It says Le Rouge can be reached in under two hours by train or car from Geneva, and in under an hour from Sion. It sits at the foot of the piste of the same name, with ski-in ski-out access to the main ski area, about 7 minutes on foot from the town center and between the two main lifts, Médran and Savoleyres. Bus lines 1, 2, 3 and 4 pass the restaurant: from Médran, guests get off at the Brunet stop (2 stops), and from Savoleyres at the same stop (1 stop). Skiers are told to ride down the Rouge piste as far as it goes. The page says parking is available on site.
It also lists road distances from Verbier: Basel 252 km, Bern 160 km, Geneva 165 km, Lausanne 97 km, Sion 52 km and Zürich 280 km. For guests flying into Geneva, those figures and the under-two-hours line are the practical guide; the page does not name a transfer service.
Season and hours
The footer says the restaurant is open every day in winter from noon to midnight. The pages do not give summer opening times or say whether the restaurant takes private events outside the winter season. For a summer wedding, that is the first thing to ask.
Language and contact
The site has English and French versions. The pages do not say in which language the events team works, so couples planning in English should say so when they first get in touch. Information and reservations are handled at 027 771 80 00, and the hire page invites enquiries for a private event or a group booking.
What the site does not settle
The site publishes no prices for private hire, food or drinks, no minimum spend and no deposit or cancellation terms. It does not say whether a ceremony can take place on site, whether the restaurant is available for private events in summer, or how late a private party can run beyond the winter opening hours. It does not mention accommodation, so guests will need to find their own lodging in Verbier. It also does not say whether the restaurant supplies the DJ or music for a private wedding or whether couples bring their own, and whether décor, linens and flowers are part of the package.
Who it suits
Le Rouge suits couples planning a winter wedding in Verbier who want a lively, chalet-style venue with room for a large guest list, a terrace with a mountain panorama and a party atmosphere after dinner. The mix of spaces, from a cellar table for 18 to a full hire for 300, makes it flexible for a wedding weekend with several events.
It suits less well a couple who wants a quiet, formal setting, a ceremony venue on site confirmed in advance, or a summer date without first checking the season. As a popular après-ski address, the restaurant is at its liveliest in winter, which is part of its appeal for some couples and a reason for others to book the whole place rather than a part of it.
