A festive restaurant and cocktail bar in Verbier

Taratata is a restaurant, cocktail bar and club at Route des Creux 4 in Verbier, Valais, run by Alpes Hôtel SA according to its contact page. It describes itself as "Une ancienne discothèque transformée en restaurant festif" (a former nightclub turned into a festive restaurant), and its groups and events page opens with "L'endroit parfait pour votre repas festif" (the perfect place for your festive meal). That sets the tone for a wedding here: a dinner that turns into a party in a former club, rather than a formal banquet.

The events page lists weddings together with anniversaries as its first category. The line that matters for couples is this one: "Avec un service et une organisation entièrement personnalisable, nous accueillons votre réception jusqu'à 80 invités" (with a fully customizable service and organization, we host your reception for up to 80 guests).

The wedding offer

The offer is a reception, not a ceremony. The page gives the capacity of up to 80 guests, invites couples to make use of "nos différents espaces" (our different spaces), and promises that the service and the organization can be adapted entirely to the couple. It does not name the spaces or say how many there are, and it does not publish a menu, a package or a price for a wedding.

The banquets section adds that the venue's different spaces, its kitchen and its attentive teams make an event a success, and calls Taratata "un lieu hors du commun" (an out-of-the-ordinary place). The same section invites guests to celebrate a birthday dinner, a happy event or any other occasion there, which makes it an option for the events around a wedding as well as the reception itself: a welcome dinner for guests arriving in Verbier the evening before, or a relaxed meal the day after. A third section covers seminars and company evenings, especially end-of-year dinners, for small, medium and large companies, and describes the restaurant as a setting for a friendly, good-humored evening around a good table.

Food, drink and music

The site publishes its menus: a wine list, a cocktail list and a food menu ("La Carte des Vins", "La Carte des Cocktails" and "La Carte des Mets"). For couples, those are the best preview of what a wedding dinner and bar could look like. The gallery shows the style of the kitchen and bar through its captions: ceviche, burrata, asparagus, a salmon tartare, beef, a market salad, cauliflower and carrots, desserts, cocktails and mixology, as well as the bar, the restaurant and party scenes.

Music is part of the house. The events page names its resident DJ, Jean-Cam alias Dj Manjinku. The site does not say whether the resident DJ plays at private weddings as part of the booking or whether couples can bring their own band or DJ, which is a question worth asking early given the venue's club background.

The team

The team page is unusually personal for a Swiss restaurant site. It introduces the core team "qui écrit notre histoire depuis 2020" (which has been writing our story since 2020): Aline Ménétrey, the chef since the beginning; Mathys Courvoisy, restaurant manager since 2023; Benoit Boutet, bar manager since 2023; and Fernando Lencero Monsa, described as the team's "Couteau Suisse" (Swiss army knife) since the beginning. The page frames its approach in a short statement: in a world where customers want everything, the team likes the challenge, and its strength is the people behind every interaction, "simples, humaines, authentiques" (simple, human, authentic).

For a couple planning from abroad, that means a small team with named people and, in the chef, continuity since the restaurant's start.

Language and contact

The site is written in French and offers a language selector with English, German, Italian, Swedish, Danish and Spanish. The pages do not state which languages the team speaks, so a couple planning in English should say so in the first message.

The contact channels are clear: hello@taratata-verbier.ch, telephone +41 27 771 65 00, a WhatsApp number (+41 77 233 99 00) and a contact form. The site also has an online reservation page and sells gift vouchers.

Planning a reception here from abroad

Because the site is short, most of the planning happens in conversation, and the channels the site offers make that easy from a distance. A useful first message by email or WhatsApp gives the date, the expected number of guests (keeping in mind the stated limit of 80), and the language the couple wants to plan in. From there, the questions follow from what the site shows: which of the different spaces the reception would use and whether the venue is closed to the public for it; whether the wedding menu is built from the published food menu or created separately by the chef; how the bar is handled, given the cocktail list; and what the music will be. The ceremony and the guests' accommodation sit outside Taratata's offer and need to be arranged in parallel.

What the site does not settle

The site publishes no prices for a wedding: no menu prices per head, no room hire and no minimum spend. It does not describe the different spaces, their layout or how the 80 guests are seated. It says nothing about a ceremony, so couples will need a separate place for the ceremony itself. It does not mention accommodation, as Taratata is a restaurant and bar rather than a hotel, so guests will need rooms elsewhere in Verbier. It gives no opening season, no end time for a private party and no deposit or cancellation terms. It does not describe how to reach the venue beyond the address and a map on the contact page.

Who it suits

Taratata suits couples who want a relaxed, lively wedding reception in Verbier for up to 80 guests, with good food, a serious cocktail bar and a party that can run on in a former nightclub. The personal tone of the team page and the WhatsApp contact make the first steps easy for couples planning from a distance.

It suits less well a couple planning a large wedding above 80 guests, a formal dinner in a classic setting, or a wedding where the ceremony and the rooms for guests should be in the same place as the reception. Those parts have to be arranged separately.
