A garden hall above Lake Zurich
Moschti Stäfa is an event venue at Mühlerain 13a in Stäfa on Lake Zurich, run by Moschti Stäfa GmbH. Its wedding page welcomes couples to "der Terrasse der Moschti Stäfa mit ihrem traumhaften Blick über den Zürichsee, umgeben von Reben, Bäumen und Natur" (the terrace of the Moschti Stäfa with its view over Lake Zurich, surrounded by vines, trees and nature). The page sums up what it offers: a spacious garden, a banquet hall with a view, seasonal and regional menus, exclusivity, and a willow dome ("Weidendom") for free ceremonies.
One rule shapes everything: "In der Moschti Stäfa können Sie ausschliesslich Anlässe mit unserem hauseigenen Catering buchen" (at the Moschti Stäfa you can only book events with our in-house catering). The venue and the food come as one package. Beyond weddings, the site covers private and company events, a culinary section, an A to Z of practical information and a gallery, and its newsletter invites readers not to miss a tavolata, so the kitchen also runs its own shared-table evenings.
The free ceremony under the dome
In the garden stands what the page calls a unique geodesic dome, and the venue offers free ceremonies in the garden for up to 120 guests. The page promises that a ceremony under the romantic dome with a view of the lake will stay in the couple's memory for life. Afterwards, guests toast the couple in the garden before sitting down to the wedding dinner in a relaxed mood.
If the weather does not cooperate, the page says the ceremony, the aperitif and the whole celebration move from the garden into the hall, and it adds that even in rain the couple can enjoy the view of the lake during their vows. The page offers a free ceremony and does not mention a civil ceremony or the registry office.
The hall and the garden
The banquet hall, which the page calls the garden hall, has a total area of 176 m² and seats up to 99 wedding guests at round or rectangular tables. Even when full, there is still room for performances, a band or a dance floor, and the page says both the hall and the garden have a view of the lake. In stable weather, the large garden is also available for the wedding banquet. For aperitifs, the venue takes up to 120 guests. The page also says the setting works for small family celebrations, not only full-size weddings.
Food and service
The kitchen is led by Zora Reichling and Marisa Dagon, and the page says the cooks create a wedding banquet to the couple's wishes. Depending on the wedding party, the team sets a formal wedding table or the guests serve themselves at a grill buffet. The page stresses quality and seasonal, regional and organic produce, and says the kitchen plans each celebration individually and helps with the menu, the drinks list and the choice of wines. The venue only offers events including service and menu, which it calls the complete package.
The team supports the couple in preparing the wedding, welcomes their ideas for the design of the event and puts them into practice wherever possible. During the celebration, the staff look after the guests so the couple can relax.
Late nights and house rules
The page says a wedding can be a lavish party or a personal celebration "auf Wunsch bis 3.00 Uhr morgens" (on request until 3 a.m.), and repeats: celebrating is allowed until 3:00, as long as guests keep to the house rules. The house rules are available as a document on the page.
Planning documents
This is where the Moschti is more open than most venues. The page links a long list of planning documents: an overview of the hall rental costs ("Mietkosten Saal"), a plan of the large hall, a list of furniture (with a note on which furniture is included in the rent), a seating plan with measurements, rental of a photo box and a photo caravan, a catalog of lanterns and one of vases, the sound system and party lights, a projector, a mobile speaker for speeches and singing, summer and winter menu inspirations, a midnight snack, the drinks list, the wine list with notes on Italian wines, and a document of recommended service providers, including childcare. The prices themselves are in those documents rather than on the page, but the structure is published.
Getting there and staying over
The page says there are 60 parking spaces and that guests can park directly in front of the venue. By public transport, the Moschti is 15 minutes on foot from Stäfa station, according to the page. For accommodation, it says the region offers many places to stay and that the team is happy to advise and refer guests. The page does not mention rooms at the Moschti itself.
Contact and language
Quotes are requested through an online form, and the page offers "eine auf Ihre Wünsche und Bedürfnisse abgestimmte Offerte" (a quote tailored to your wishes and needs). The contact details are info@moschti-staefa.ch, +41 44 926 19 35 and 078 319 11 99. The page is in German and does not say whether the team works in English, so couples planning in English should ask.
What the page does not settle
The web page itself does not show prices, although the hall rental overview and menu documents are linked. It does not say whether the free ceremony can be led by an officiant the venue recommends, how late the garden can be used, or whether the whole site is exclusive to one wedding, although the page lists exclusivity among its features. It does not give minimum guest numbers or deposit and cancellation terms.
Who it suits
Moschti Stäfa suits couples planning a wedding of up to 99 seated guests with a garden ceremony, a lake view and a relaxed dinner, whether a formal table or a grill buffet, followed by a party until 3 a.m. The published planning documents and the station within walking distance make it practical for couples organizing from abroad.
It suits less well a couple who wants to bring an outside caterer, a wedding larger than 99 at dinner, or rooms for guests on site. The catering rule is absolute, and accommodation has to be found in the region.
