A private event ship on Lake Zurich

MS Wadin is an event and party ship on Lake Zurich, run by Eventschiff Zürichsee GmbH from Alte Landstrasse 91 in Rüschlikon. Its English homepage describes it as "a stylish passenger ship on Lake Zurich" and says: "Our exclusive event ship accommodates up to 100 guests plus crew." The same site shows the company as part of Capt'n Andi's, a boat school and event ship business, and the beef fillet cruise page is signed by Andreas Rieser.

Weddings are one of its named offers. The wedding section invites couples to "Marry or celebrate your wedding" on board and says the crew looks after the couple and guests with food and drinks while they enjoy the lake. For a couple from abroad, the practical appeal is that the website is published in English and the whole event happens in one place: on the water, with its own crew, bar and kitchen team.

Capacity and the wedding format

The ship takes up to 100 guests plus crew. That figure is repeated on the page for birthday celebrations and parties. For comparison, the brunch offer is described as ideal for groups of up to 90, and the beef fillet cruise has a maximum of 70 people, so the number depends on the format. The page does not say how many can sit for a wedding dinner.

The site does not describe how a ceremony on board is arranged, who leads it, or whether a civil ceremony is possible. It says couples can marry or celebrate on board and that the team tailors each event to the couple's wishes, requirements and preferences.

Food and drink

The homepage says the team takes personal wishes into account: "Whether vegan, vegetarian, or alcohol-free – we will find the right solution for every requirement." It adds that the dishes are mainly made from regional products and can, on request, be chosen with organic certification. The site has a food and beverage menu page.

The published cruises show the style of the kitchen. The beef fillet cruise, as a reference, includes an aperitif on the jetty, a mixed seasonal salad with a homemade veal terrine and Cumberland sauce, beef fillet in one piece with béarnaise sauce, baby carrots, bundled green beans and cauliflower (or a vegan celeriac escalope in a sesame crust), and a dessert buffet, with Prosecco, wine, beer, mineral water, homemade iced tea and coffee included, as well as a music system. Beer, white wine, Prosecco and red wine are also available alcohol-free on board. That cruise costs CHF 200 per person for 41-50 guests, CHF 195 for 51-60 and CHF 190 for 61-70, with all-inclusive prices of CHF 8'000 for 31-40 people and CHF 7'600 up to 30, all excluding VAT, and takes from 3.5 hours. It is not a wedding package, but it is the best published guide to the ship's price level.

The other offers include a barbecue cruise from the ship's grill in summer, an Apéroriche cruise, a brunch or breakfast cruise, and in winter a Fondue Chinoise cruise (with cheese fondue or raclette as alternatives) and a raclette cruise.

How an event on board runs

The beef fillet page describes the sequence of a typical cruise, which is close to how a wedding would run. The crew welcomes guests on the jetty with an aperitif, and "as soon as all passengers are on board, it's 'cast off' and the journey begins." The cruise covers all of Lake Zurich, according to the same page. The homepage says the company brings years of experience organizing many kinds of events, professional equipment and a long-standing team, so that hosts can relax and enjoy the party. A guest review on the site describes a milestone birthday on board with the crew looking after the group for 5 hours, which gives a sense of the length of a private event.

Music and party

The party section says the ship "is equipped with professional sound and light equipment as well as a big bar," and that the team works with the host on the concept for the party. The birthday section mentions a sunset aperitif cruise or a party with a DJ and music. For a wedding, that covers the speeches, the first dance and the party on board.

Seasons

The winter fondue and raclette cruises show the ship runs events in the cold months as well as in summer. The beef fillet page lists "April – October" and, under execution, "All year round", so the season of each format is worth confirming. The wedding section does not name a season.

Languages, booking and contact

The site is published in English and German, and the beef fillet cruise page lists the languages as German, English and French. Couples request an individual offer by phone at +41 76 589 90 04, by email at info@ms-wadin.ch or through a request form, and the team offers advice by phone. The homepage shows a Google rating of 5.0 based on 120 reviews.

What the site does not settle

The site publishes no wedding price or package. It does not say where guests board, how long a wedding cruise lasts, whether the ship has covered and open decks, how guests are seated for dinner, or whether the ship is accessible for guests with limited mobility. It gives no parking or transport information for the boarding point, no deposit or cancellation terms, and no end time for a party. For a couple planning a ceremony on board, the form and the officiant are the first questions.

Who it suits

MS Wadin suits couples who want a wedding of up to 100 guests on Lake Zurich with everything on one ship: the aperitif, dinner, bar and party, with a crew that handles vegan, vegetarian and alcohol-free requests. The published cruise prices and the English website make it easier than most venues to plan from abroad.

It suits less well a couple with a guest list above 100, or one who wants a garden, a castle or rooms for guests on site. On the water the guest list and the timetable are fixed once the ship casts off, so couples should plan the day around the cruise.
