Weingut Rütihof

Tap a star to rate

Weingut Rütihof is a family wine estate at Rütihofstrasse 13 in 8713 Uerikon, which the estate places in Stäfa on Lake Zurich. The Hasler family has farmed the Rütihof since 1885, "Heute bereits in fünfter Generation", today already in the 5th generation. The estate covers 4.5 hectares of vines and forest, including half a hectare of ecological areas set aside for biodiversity. For weddings it offers the Rütihof-Schüür, a rustic barn with an outdoor area among the vines, from April to September.

The barn and what a wedding looks like

The event page is short and direct. It opens with "Haben Sie etwas zu feiern?" (do you have something to celebrate?) and says that birthdays and weddings can be celebrated wonderfully in the Rütihof-Schüür, with family parties, company events and club events also possible. The rustic barn and the outdoor area offer an idyllic setting among the vines ("ein idyllisches Ambiente inmitten der Reben") and plenty of room for guests.

The figures are clear: up to 70 people for events with a meal, and up to 120 for aperitifs. The page describes the shape of the day it has in mind: after a generous aperitif with Rütihof wines and a cheese platter, the barn and the outdoor area are used for the rest of the celebration. For the meal, "kann ein Catering gebucht werden", catering can be booked. The page does not say whether the estate arranges that caterer or the couple brings one, so that is the first thing to clarify.

The page does not mention a ceremony on site. Couples who want to marry among the vines rather than only celebrate there should ask whether a free ceremony can take place in the outdoor area.

Season

"Die Lokalität ist von April bis September nutzbar": the venue can be used from April to September. There is no winter option. Since the barn and the outdoor area are used together, a couple planning for the edges of the season should ask what happens if the weather is cold or wet, and how many guests the barn alone holds for a meal.

The estate and the people

Most of the vines grow on steep slopes, and the portrait page says mechanical work is only possible to a limited extent there. The family writes that it loves the handwork in the vineyard, so that every vine gets the best care, and describes its wines as complex and long-lived. It says it is proud of its many prizes and awards, without naming them on the page.

The portrait introduces the team:

  • Monica Hasler Bürgi grew up on the Rütihof and runs it in the 5th generation. She studied biology, joined the business in 2002 and took it over in 2004, with responsibility for vines and wines. The page describes her wines as honest, independent Zürichsee wines.
  • Matthias Bürgi is a part-time winegrower, a scientist by main profession who researches landscape history. He looks after the many natural, species-rich areas; biodiversity in the vineyard, the page says, is close to his heart.
  • Nicolae Rau, known as Nico, comes from the Republic of Moldova, where his family also tends a small plot of vines. He came to Stäfa for the summer season over 7 years and has lived in Uerikon with his wife Lucia since January 2023, working at the estate year-round.
  • Santiago Martinez, known as Santi, grew up in Mexico, studied chemistry there, studied oenology in Spain and worked at a large winery in Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. He joined in March 2023.

At harvest the team is joined by experienced grape pickers (Wümmerleute). The site also has a separate section on sustainability (Nachhaltigkeit), in keeping with the half hectare of land the family keeps for biodiversity and to the care of vines, soil and surrounding nature that the portrait describes. The team list is useful context for a couple from abroad: this is a small family wine business, and event inquiries go to the same email address as everything else, under the names of Monica Hasler Bürgi and Matthias Bürgi.

Wine, tastings and the estate's calendar

The estate sells wine from the cellar every Saturday from 9 to 12 (except Easter Saturday) or by appointment, and it runs a Saturday tasting from 10 to 14 by registration. Its events page for 2026 lists the Stäfner Suuser Sunntig on October 4, 2026, from 11 to 18, featuring the white Sauser, which the page calls a rarity only available fresh from the barrel, and a Swiss Wine Tasting at the Kunsthaus Zürich on August 31, 2026. The online shop offers new customers a 10% discount. A couple could use a Saturday tasting to see the barn and choose the wines for the aperitif in one visit.

Booking, language and arrival

Inquiries go by email to hasler@weingut-ruetihof.ch or by phone on 044 926 37 54 or 079 746 00 44; the event page invites couples to get in touch to discuss details. The site is in German only and does not say whether the family handles inquiries in English.

The pages publish no rental price, no catering prices and no booking terms beyond a link to general terms (AGB). They do not mention parking, the nearest station or accommodation, and say nothing about the end time for an evening party or about noise. For guests coming from Zurich or from abroad, transport and hotels need to be planned by the couple.

What to ask first

  • The price for the barn and outdoor area, and what is included beyond the aperitif wines and cheese.
  • Which caterer the estate works with, or whether the couple chooses one.
  • Whether a ceremony can be held among the vines.
  • The bad-weather plan, the end time and the number of parking spaces.

Who it suits

Weingut Rütihof suits a couple who wants a relaxed wine-estate wedding for up to 70 guests at dinner, with the family's own wines at the center and a setting among the vines on Lake Zurich, between April and September. It suits wine lovers in particular, since the estate's tastings make it easy to visit beforehand.

It suits less well a larger wedding, a date outside the season, or couples who want a venue that handles everything including the ceremony and the full catering from one contact. Those points need to be clarified directly with the family.
