Zürichsee Events

Zürichsee Events is an event company based at Alte Landstrasse 91 in 8803 Rüschlikon that runs events on Lake Zurich from the water. Its English page calls it "Your Platform for Events on Lake Zurich" and describes "a versatile fleet of sailing boats, motorboats, and event vessels". For weddings the vessel that matters is the MS Wadin, which the company calls its "elegant event and party ship" and offers for a wedding ceremony or a wedding celebration on the water, with up to 100 guests.

For couples from abroad the most useful fact comes first: the company publishes its offer in English, and its page invites guests to contact the event planners by WhatsApp, email or phone.

The wedding offer on the MS Wadin

The wedding section is short. It reads: "Celebrate your dream wedding on beautiful Lake Zurich aboard MS Wadin. Our elegant event and party ship offers the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony or wedding celebration on the water." It gives the capacity as up to 100 guests, surrounded by lake views.

The other MS Wadin sections fill in what the ship has on board. The birthday section says the crew serves "delicious regional specialties and a wide selection of drinks throughout the event", and that the ship has "a stylish onboard bar, a modern sound system and atmospheric lighting effects". The corporate section describes the ship as "Fully equipped for business and leisure events on Lake Zurich" and uses it for team events, company outings and seminars, again for up to 100 guests. The welcome text adds that seminars and business events for up to 100 guests take place aboard the passenger event ship.

Read together, the offer for a wedding is a ship with a bar, sound and lighting, and a crew that serves food and drinks, for a group of up to 100. The page does not describe the ship's layout, the number of seats at a dinner, the deck space or any covered outdoor area.

Ceremony on board

The wedding text mentions a "wedding ceremony" on the water as well as a celebration. It does not say what kind of ceremony is meant. A couple should ask the company whether it arranges a free ceremony with a celebrant, whether a civil ceremony can take place on board at all, and whether most couples marry on land first and then come aboard. The page gives no answer to any of these, and a couple should get the answer in writing before planning around it.

The rest of the fleet

The page lists 7 event experiences, several of them useful around a wedding:

  • Luxury Vintage Yacht Experience: a cruise on the company's classic vintage yacht with an aperitif, with views of the city of Zurich, the surrounding hills and the lakeside scenery, according to the page. For a small group this could be a pre-wedding outing or a trip for the couple and witnesses.
  • Fun Regatta: a sailing regatta on the company's sailing yachts for friends, guests or a team, which could suit a wedding weekend with active guests.
  • Captain's Grill: an onboard barbecue, with the crew serving "freshly prepared regional grill specialties directly on board".
  • Corporate Event aboard the MS Wadin, Wedding on the MS Wadin and Birthday Party on the MS Wadin: the ship offers, for up to 100 guests.

The welcome text also mentions client entertainment, group outings and gift ideas. The company presents its planners as experienced in "creating and organizing tailor-made events for private groups and companies of all sizes", and it asks clients to get in touch so it can build an event "perfectly tailored to your ideas, wishes, and requirements".

What the page does not publish

The page is a short overview, and much of what a couple needs is not on it:

  • No prices for the MS Wadin, the other boats or the catering.
  • No menus beyond "regional specialties" and grill dishes, and nothing on dietary requirements.
  • No information on how long a charter lasts, where guests board, or whether the ship picks guests up at more than one landing stage.
  • No statement on what happens in bad weather or high wind.
  • No booking terms, deposits or cancellation rules.
  • No parking or public transport information for Rüschlikon, and nothing on accommodation.
  • No detail on accessibility on board.

The contact section at the foot of the page says the event planners are always available to plan an occasion together with the client and to take personal wishes into account. There is also an "Our Partners" heading, but the page names no partner businesses in text, so it is not clear which caterers, musicians or photographers the company works with. The contact block shows buttons for WhatsApp, email and phone rather than written-out numbers, so the first step is simply to send a message.

Practical points for a couple from abroad

A wedding on a ship changes the planning in a few ways the page does not spell out. Guests need to arrive at the boarding point on time, since a ship leaves on schedule. Anyone who is uneasy on water or has limited mobility needs a word in advance. And the whole event depends on the lake: the couple should ask what the plan is if the weather is poor, whether the ship can stay moored, and whether the date can be moved.

On the positive side, the setup keeps the day in one place. Bar, sound, lighting and crew catering are on board, so the couple is not coordinating a separate caterer and a separate venue. The English-language page and the WhatsApp contact also make it easier to plan from another country than with many German-only venues.

Who it suits

Zürichsee Events suits a couple who wants the wedding, or at least the celebration, on Lake Zurich itself, with up to 100 guests, a bar and music on board and a crew that serves regional food. It also suits couples who want to add a smaller boat outing, a regatta or a grill cruise for guests around the main day.

It suits less well a very large wedding, a couple who needs a guaranteed civil ceremony on board, or guests for whom a long stretch on the water would be difficult. Price, route, timing and the weather plan are all questions for the first message.
