Broquet-Leuenberger

Tap a star to rate

Broquet-Leuenberger is a farm at Route de France 25 in Movelier, in the Jura, that makes its own goat and cow cheeses, runs a farm butchery and sells directly from a farm shop. For weddings it offers two rooms: La Grange, a barn hall for the ceremony or the celebration, and Le Bolat, a former stable turned dining room where the farm serves its own menus and apéros. Food, room and farm come from the same business, which is the point of booking it. The site's menu also covers the farm's history and team, its farm cheese dairy and butchery, regional produce baskets, gift vouchers and an online shop, so wedding favors from the farm are an easy extra to ask about.

La Grange and Le Bolat

The ceremonies page, written in French, pitches La Grange to couples who want to marry or hold an event somewhere out of the ordinary. It describes a warm room where the rural past can be felt through "les vieux murs en pierre et la vieille charpente" (the old stone walls and the old timber roof frame). The same page recommends La Grange for weddings, ceremonies and concerts. Its page title also lists "cérémonie laïque" (a secular, non-civil ceremony) among the uses, so the barn is set up for a celebrant-led ceremony rather than a civil one; the site does not mention a registry office.

Le Bolat is presented as the place for a memorable apéro to celebrate the union. The menus page explains that it is the farm's old stable, converted into a salle d'hôte (a guest dining room), designed for apéros, brunches, lunches, dinners, birthdays and other events. The page promises a convivial time in a room with a story behind it.

The ceremonies page links videos and photos of both rooms, which helps a couple who cannot visit the Jura before deciding.

The menus, with prices

This is one of the rare Swiss venues that publishes what the food costs. Every price below is per person and includes 8.1% VAT, and the menus page says the price also includes a visit of the farm lasting about 30 to 40 minutes. For the menus, the farm asks for a minimum of 25 people.

With every menu except Menu 5, the apéro is a spread of cold plates: various dried sausages, dried meats, goat cheeses, cow cheeses, garnishes, and bread and tresse (the Swiss plaited loaf) baked in a wood-fired oven. All menus finish with the same dessert buffet of strawberry cream, caramel cream and or vanilla cream, Linzer tart and bricelets (thin waffle biscuits).

  • Menu 1, CHF 32: mixed salad, farmhouse ham, gratin dauphinois, dessert buffet.
  • Menu 2, CHF 34: mixed salad, farmhouse ham in a pastry crust, potato salad or gratin dauphinois, dessert buffet.
  • Menu 3, CHF 39: mixed salad, sirloin with a mushroom sauce, gratin or knöpfli, green beans tied in small bunches, dessert buffet.
  • Menu 4, CHF 41: mixed salad, "tranche à la crème" (a slice of meat in cream sauce), gratin or knöpfli, mixed vegetables, dessert buffet.
  • Menu 5, CHF 32: a cold spread of dried meats, bacon, dried sausages, goat and cow cheeses, garnishes, wood-fired bread and tresse, toetché (the Jura cream tart) and seasonal salads, then the dessert buffet.
  • Raclette à gogo, CHF 32: all-you-can-eat raclette with the farm's Raclette La Montagne de Movelier, potatoes, grilled bacon, onions and pickles, then the dessert buffet.
  • Apéro only, CHF 15: the cold plates alone, without drinks, to the client's wishes, with delivery possible.

Drinks

The farm lists its drink prices on the same page: a 75 cl bottle of white wine CHF 34, red or rosé CHF 36, a liter of apple juice CHF 9, coffee or tea CHF 3, a 1.5 liter bottle of mineral water CHF 9, a 33 cl beer CHF 3.50, a 33 cl regional beer CHF 6, and 2 cl of eau-de-vie or liqueur CHF 4.50. The site does not say whether couples may bring their own wine or charge corkage.

Apéros to take away

For a wedding held somewhere else, the farm also sells apéro platters to take away. Its page gives CHF 8 to 10 per person for a simple apéro and CHF 14 to 16 per person for an apéro dînatoire (a substantial standing meal), bread and tresse not included. Delivery is possible in the Delémont area and surroundings for an extra charge. That makes Broquet-Leuenberger useful even to a couple who marry in another Jura venue.

Booking and language

Dates for La Grange and apéros in Le Bolat are requested through a form on the ceremonies page or by phone on 032 431 16 75. The contact details are contact@broquet-leuenberger.ch and a WhatsApp link. The site is in French, with one German phrase in the ceremonies page title ("Hochzeit auf dem Bauernhof", wedding on the farm). It says nothing about English. A couple from abroad should write in simple French or English and ask directly.

The farm shop is open Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 12:00 and Friday and Saturday 07:30 to 17:00, closed Sunday, and takes cash, Twint, cards and CSS COIN. The site's menu also lists electric car charging stations on the farm.

What the site leaves open

The site states no capacity for La Grange or Le Bolat, and no rental fee for the rooms themselves, as distinct from the menus. It does not say whether the two rooms can be booked together for one wedding, what time a party must end, or whether music and dancing are possible. It mentions no parking layout, no public transport and no accommodation, so guests coming from further away will need to arrange rooms and transport themselves. It says nothing about vegetarian menus or other dietary needs; every listed main course is meat or cheese-based, so couples with vegetarian guests should ask what the kitchen can do.

Who it suits

Broquet-Leuenberger fits a couple with at least 25 guests who want a rural wedding with real farm food, clear prices and a relaxed style, and who like the idea of a farm tour as part of the day. The published menus make budgeting unusually easy. The caveats are the French-only site, the lack of stated capacities, and a rural location with no accommodation on the pages, which puts the travel work on the couple and their guests.
