A Zurich celebrant with a communications background

Younique Ceremonies is the business of Daniela Vögtlin, a celebrant based in Zurich who writes and leads free ceremonies: personal, non-church ceremonies built around the couple or family. The site's list of services has five entries: Freie Trauung (free wedding ceremony), Erneuerung Eheversprechen (renewal of vows), Freie Willkommensfeier (welcome ceremony for a child), Freie Abschiedsfeier (farewell ceremony) and Anderes (other). The homepage speaks to three kinds of client in turn: couples who have just got engaged, couples who want to renew their vows, and parents who want to welcome a child «feierlich in der Familie und auf der Welt» (formally into the family and the world).

The address on the site is Schaffhauserstrasse 641, 8052 Zürich. Her about page says she was born in Olten in 1989, lives in Zurich with her partner, and still keeps her Olten dialect, for which, she says, she regularly gets compliments.

Outside work, the about page says, she surfs, whether on a standing wave, behind a boat or in the sea, reads, and cannot help greeting every dog she passes. It is a small detail, but it gives a sense of the tone she writes in: warm, informal and a little playful.

How she came to it

The about page gives her working background. Since her studies she has worked in communications: in radio as a presenter and editor, then public relations, social media consulting, and event and corporate communications at an international company. She writes that her passion for letters and «das Jonglieren mit Worten» (juggling words) has been with her since she learned to read.

Friends asked her to lead the free ceremony at their wedding, and she describes seeing her words move the couple and their guests, sometimes to tears and sometimes to smiles. That was when she knew it was what she wanted to do. The page ends with «Das ist der schönste Job der Welt!» (this is the most beautiful job in the world).

Her approach

The about page is specific about what she aims for in a ceremony text. She likes to dive into life stories «nach Perlen zu suchen» (looking for the pearls) that make each person and couple unique, and describes her mission as surprising people with small anecdotes, building in humorous passages and touching hearts with carefully chosen words. The footer puts it in one line: «Mit viel Herz, Feingefühl und Liebe zum Detail gestalte ich persönliche Zeremonien» (with a lot of heart, sensitivity and attention to detail I create personal ceremonies).

She is explicit about who she works with. A wedding, she writes, is the free decision of two people who love each other to go through life together, whether it is the first, the second or the third marriage, and regardless of whom you are attracted to or what you believe. For couples who have been married before or who are same-sex, that is stated openly.

The about page closes with a short statement of what the business is for: Younique Ceremonies «berührt, bewegt und begeistert Paare, Familien, Einzelpersonen und ihre Gäste» (touches, moves and delights couples, families, individuals and their guests) with ceremonies tailored entirely to them, and promises speeches «Mit Klarheit, Tiefe und echter Präsenz» (with clarity, depth and real presence). The footer also mentions christenings (Taufe) and other special life moments alongside free weddings, so the offer reaches beyond the five named services.

What couples say

The homepage carries three short testimonials in German. One couple wrote: «Es war wunderschön und es hat alle zu Tränen gerührt» (it was beautiful and moved everyone to tears), and mentioned that the knot ritual in the ceremony left them with a keepsake («mit dem Trauungsritual-Knoten haben wir auch noch ein wunderschönes Andenken»). Another wrote that the ceremony exceeded their expectations and that she led it «mit so einer Ruhe, Ausstrahlung und vorallem auch Authentizität» (with such calm, presence and above all authenticity). A menu item, "Kundenstimmen", leads to more reviews, and there is also a blog.

The knot ritual is the only ceremonial element the pages name. Couples who want other symbolic acts, music or readings should ask what she typically includes.

Booking

The site offers several ways to start: "jetzt anfragen" (inquire now), a contact link, and "Erstgespräch buchen", booking a first conversation. The homepage frames that first contact as a chance to get to know each other and find out together whether she is the right person for the ceremony. The email address on the site is hidden behind a protected link, so the contact form or the first-conversation booking is the practical route from abroad.

Language

The site is written entirely in German, in the informal "ihr" form. Nothing on the pages says whether she leads ceremonies in English or in any other language, or whether she has done bilingual ceremonies. Her professional background in radio and communications at an international company is not a statement about English, so a couple who need an English or bilingual ceremony should ask that in their first message.

What the site does not settle

The site publishes no prices and no packages, and does not say what a fee covers (number of meetings, a rehearsal, travel). It does not say where she will travel: only the Zurich address is given, and no region or radius is named, so a wedding in the mountains or in another part of the country needs a direct question. It does not give a lead time, a deposit or cancellation terms. The "Anderes" service is listed but not described on these pages.

Who it suits

Younique Ceremonies suits German-speaking or bilingual couples in the Zurich area, and couples elsewhere who are happy to ask about travel, who want a warm, personal ceremony with humor and anecdotes rather than a formal script. Her openness to second and third marriages and to couples of any orientation or belief is stated plainly. The range of services also makes her an option for a vow renewal or a child's welcome ceremony later on.

The caveats for a couple from abroad are the German-only site, the lack of any published price and the unstated service area. Book the first conversation, and raise language, fee and travel in it.
