Cam A Souvenir, Carole et Nicola
Tap a star to rate
Cam A Souvenir is the studio of Carole and Nicola, a couple of photographers based in Geneva, at the end of Lake Geneva. Weddings are the first service on their list, followed by pregnancy, family, couple and portrait shoots, and the site adds albums, prints, folios and gift vouchers. Everything is written in French, and the wedding page is unusually clear about how they organize a wedding from first contact to the days after.
Who they are
The home page opens with a line they attribute to Confucius, "une image vaut mille mots", a picture is worth a thousand words. They introduce themselves as "un couple de photographes débordants de curiosité et d'envie", a photographer couple brimming with curiosity and drive, and they make a point that sets the tone for the rest of the site: a phone can document a life, but photography is still a trade, and what separates them is technique, equipment and vision.
The about page sets out their working philosophy in five points: passion, will (the idea that learning photography never ends and styles and tools keep changing), curiosity, patience and perseverance, and sensitivity. Under that last point they write about knowing when to step back and when to freeze the moment, and about understanding what each client needs through conversation. It reads as a statement of intent rather than a list of credentials; the site gives no founding year, training or number of weddings shot.
They also mention, on the wedding page, that they speak from experience: "Croyez-nous pour l'avoir déjà vécu", believe us, we have been through it ourselves. For a couple choosing between photographers, it is a small human detail that makes the pair easier to picture.
How they photograph a wedding
The wedding page describes their approach as a "shooting reportage", a reportage-style session in which they blend into the background and let the couple live the day, catching each moment and emotion "du grand OUI au discours de tata", from the big yes to the aunt's speech. The result is meant to be a set of pictures that tells the story of the wedding.
The page then lays out the process in four steps.
1. The meeting (La rencontre). They write that a good relationship with the photographers is essential, since they will be present through every stage of the day. Besides emails and text messages, they expect to meet the couple several times to build that relationship and to hear about the project and its story. They offer help before, during and after the wedding.
2. The engagement session (La séance fiançailles). They call it a key element of wedding preparation, for a simple reason: having cameras follow you all day can be disconcerting, and an earlier shoot gets the couple used to them and to their equipment. A few of the pictures can also go on the invitations.
3. The wedding day (Le jour J). After the preparation, in which they say the photographers also help, the instruction to the couple is one word: PROFITEZ, enjoy it.
4. The day after (Le Day-After). A session a day after the wedding, in which the couple put their wedding clothes back on and head off for a shoot that suits them, on the principle that a wedding dress should not be worn for only one day.
The page then says they offer several packages. The examples it gives are with or without the day-after session, with or without a photo book, or with a shoot at the brunch on the morning after the wedding. A wedding brochure is available as a download for the details.
Albums, prints and gifts
Alongside the shoot, the studio sells physical products: albums, prints and folios, which it presents as a way to keep the pictures in a form you can hold. The site also sells Cam A Souvenir gift vouchers. The services page adds that they can cover almost any other kind of project, giving an anniversary, a child's religious ceremony or a club night as examples, and invites people to get in touch to discuss it.
Prices the site does publish
Wedding prices are not on the site. The portrait page, however, does list prices, which give a sense of the studio's price level. A beauty shoot or a boudoir shoot costs CHF 320, lasts about 1h30 and delivers 15 high-definition photos in a private online gallery. The Gorgeous package combines both for CHF 720 with 33 photos and an 18-page album. A business portrait costs CHF 50 for a studio session of about 30-45 minutes with 2 high-definition photos. For the portrait shoots, travel within a 30km radius around Geneva is included. The site does not say whether the same radius applies to weddings.
Contact and booking
The contact page offers two routes: a free video call of 15 to 30 minutes, booked online and without commitment, or a contact form. If none of the proposed call slots works, they ask couples to write and they will find a time. A video call is a practical first step for a couple planning from abroad. Contact is also possible by email at info@camasouvenir.ch or by phone on +41 76 707 22 24, with WhatsApp available. The studio is on Instagram as @Cam_a_souvenir, and the site has a FAQ and a blog.
What the site does not settle
The site is in French only and does not say whether Carole and Nicola work in English. Wedding prices, hours of coverage, the number of images delivered and the delivery time are not on the pages; the site points to its downloadable brochure for details. The site does not say whether they travel beyond Geneva for weddings or how travel is charged for a wedding outside the city. Nor does it describe the terms of a booking, such as a deposit or cancellation rules.
Who it suits
Cam A Souvenir suits couples marrying in or around Geneva who want two photographers who invest time before the wedding, through meetings and an engagement shoot, and who like the idea of a relaxed day-after session in their wedding clothes. The reportage approach suits couples who would rather not be directed all day. Couples who want a printed album or folios will find those on offer too.
It suits less well couples who want a published wedding price before making contact, or who need written confirmation of English-language service. Both are easy to raise in the free video call, and the brochure is the obvious first document to ask for.
