Foto Garbani

Tap a star to rate

Foto Garbani is a photography business in Ticino with two branches, in Muralto and in Lugano. Its services page lists wedding photography and video alongside a long range of other work, and the site as a whole shows a full photo business rather than a lone wedding photographer: a studio, shops with opening hours, courses, printing and a secondhand camera section.

The wedding service

The wedding entry on the services page is short but clear. In the studio's words: "Eseguiamo le fotografie e/o le riprese video durante tutta la giornata del vostro giorno più importante." In English: we take the photographs and/or the video footage throughout the whole of your most important day.

It continues: "Copriamo sia la cerimonia civile e/o con il rito religioso, per poi continuare con le foto di famiglia, foto agli sposi, e molto altro ancora." That is, they cover the civil ceremony and/or the religious ceremony, then continue with family photos, photos of the couple and much more.

Three practical points follow for a couple:

  • Photo, video or both. The "e/o" (and/or) is explicit. A couple can book photography alone, video alone, or the two together from one business.
  • Whole-day coverage. The service is described as running through the whole day rather than a set number of hours.
  • Civil and religious ceremonies. Both are named, which suits couples holding both a registry-office wedding and a church ceremony.

Each service on the page links to a gallery of examples ("Guarda le foto"), which is where a couple can judge the style. The closing words of the wedding entry, "catturando ogni momento speciale della vostra giornata di matrimonio" (catching every special moment of your wedding day), describe the aim: a reportage of the day rather than a short portrait session. Couples who want a particular emphasis, such as more time on the couple portraits or on the party, should say so when they ask for a quote, since the page describes the day in general terms.

Engagements and other family occasions

The same page lists a service for the "Promessa di matrimonio," the engagement or proposal, which they photograph "con assoluta discrezione" (with complete discretion), catching the most meaningful moments. For a couple planning a surprise proposal in Ticino before the wedding, that is a relevant extra.

The studio also covers occasions that often follow a wedding: pregnancy photos in the studio ("Dolce attesa"), children's photos in the studio or at a place of the family's choosing, and baptisms, where they photograph and/or film the church ceremony and then continue with family photos at the restaurant.

The wider business

The rest of the services list shows the range of the business:

  • Sports events: photos of every participant, searchable on their website by bib number, plus photo and video reportage of the whole event.
  • Portraits: in their studio or at a client's business, for advertising, websites, presentations and keepsakes.
  • Hotels and restaurants: exterior, rooms, restaurant and atmosphere, for a property's website and for Booking.
  • Architecture: exteriors and interiors of buildings.
  • Drone: photos and video by drone, carried out, they say, in line with the rules in force.
  • Food: photographs of dishes in the client's restaurant.
  • Reportage: in any setting.

The site menu adds courses (Corsi), a shop, photo purchasing, vintage photographs (Foto d'epoca), secondhand equipment (Occasioni) and a used-gear valuation service, and printing in Muralto (Stampa a Muralto). The contact block points to a page with the location and opening hours of "i nostri negozi" (our shops).

For a wedding couple, the drone service is the most relevant of these. The site presents it as a separate service, so couples who want aerial pictures of their venue should ask whether it can be added to a wedding booking.

Two branches

The two branches and their direct contacts are:

  • Muralto: CH-6600 Muralto, +41 (0)91 735 34 10, info@fotogarbani.ch
  • Lugano: CH-6900 Lugano, +41 (0)91 971 62 61, lugano@fotogarbani.ch

Having shops with published opening hours means a couple visiting Ticino before the wedding can walk in and meet the team, which is useful for a couple who want to talk the day through face to face before booking. The site does not say which branch handles weddings, so either address is a reasonable first contact.

What the site does not settle

The services page publishes no prices and no packages for weddings. It does not say how many hours "tutta la giornata" means in practice, how many edited photos are delivered, what length or format the wedding video takes, how long delivery takes, or whether albums and prints are offered as part of a wedding booking (although the business does run a printing service in Muralto). It gives no deposit or cancellation terms.

It also does not say whether the studio works in English or German. The site is in Italian, and couples who do not speak Italian should raise language in the first message. The site does not say whether the team travels to weddings outside Ticino or how travel is charged.

Questions worth sending

A useful first message gives the date, the venue and whether photo, video or both are wanted, and then asks:

  • what a full wedding day includes and costs, for photo, video and both
  • how many photos and what length of film are delivered, and in what time
  • whether a drone can be added on the day
  • whether prints or an album can be ordered through the Muralto printing service
  • which languages the photographer and videographer work in

Who it suits

Foto Garbani suits couples marrying around Muralto and Lugano who want photography and video from one local business, with shops where they can meet the team in person. The explicit coverage of both civil and religious ceremonies, the engagement service and the drone option make it a practical all-round choice for a Ticino wedding.

It suits less well couples who want a published price and a clearly defined package before making contact, or who need English confirmed in writing. For them, the branches' phone numbers and email addresses are the place to start.
