Foto Wanzenried

Tap a star to rate

Foto Wanzenried is a photo studio at Rathausquai 7 in 3600 Thun, in the canton of Bern, that photographs weddings in the Bern and Thun area and rents out a photo booth for receptions. The studio's menu shows a broad local practice beyond weddings: application photos, portraits, passport and ID pictures, a lab service and business photography. For a couple marrying around Thun or Bern the main draw is simple: the wedding page publishes its prices, which few Swiss wedding photographers do.

The wedding packages and what they cost

The wedding page lists three levels in a short price overview.

The registry-office package covers about 2 hours and costs CHF 400 to 650. It is the level aimed at a civil ceremony at the Standesamt.

The mid-range package runs 4 to 6 hours for CHF 900 to 1200 and is described as a reportage of the day.

The full-day package runs 8 to 10 hours for CHF 1500 to 1800 and is described as "Umfassende Tagesbegleitung" (comprehensive coverage of the whole day).

Each level carries the same line on delivery: all successful photos are professionally edited and delivered digitally. A wedding album or photo book is optional, priced according to the version chosen. The prices are given as ranges, and the page does not explain what moves a booking from the lower to the upper figure.

How the studio describes its approach

The wedding page is written in German and addresses couples with the informal "ihr". Its text is warm rather than technical. It talks about recording every moment from a tender look during the ceremony to the laughter on the dance floor, about telling a couple's love story with an eye for small details, and about accompanying both an intimate celebration and a large party with family and friends "mit diskreter Präsenz" (with a discreet presence), so that each moment stays authentic and natural. The page closes with "Jetzt anfragen und euren Termin sichern!" (Ask now and secure your date).

The page does not describe a working method in more detail than that: there is no schedule example, no list of which parts of the day each package covers, and no statement about group photos or couple portraits.

The portrait studio

The studio side matters because it shows where the photographer works between weddings. The portrait page offers an individual shoot in the studio from CHF 200, with a choice of backgrounds and lighting setups, outfit changes, and all photos edited and delivered digitally. Portraits can be booked online, or by phone for those who prefer personal contact. This page is written in the first person ("In meinem Fotostudio", in my photo studio), while the wedding page speaks as "wir" (we); no name is given anywhere on the pages.

Renting the photo booth

The photo booth is the most detailed part of the site. It is offered for weddings, birthdays, company events and other occasions in Thun, Bern and the surrounding area, and it comes in two versions. The booth page stresses that guests operate it themselves through a touchscreen, that prints come out on the spot, and that every picture also lands in the couple's online gallery.

Fotobox Abholung costs CHF 449 and is for couples who collect the booth themselves and bring it back after the event. Fotobox Premium costs CHF 599: the studio delivers the booth in the Bern and Thun region, sets it up and collects it afterward.

Both versions include a professional booth built around a reflex camera, a print layout designed to the couple's wishes, instant prints in lab quality (about 8 seconds per print), up to 700 prints, all images in digital form in a password-protected online gallery, props, and personal support for questions. With the pickup version, a custom logo on the prints costs an extra CHF 50 and a backdrop chosen from 24 designs an extra CHF 40. The Premium version includes both the logo and one backdrop.

The layout can carry the couple's names, the date, colors and a design of their choice. The props are sets of funny glasses, hats and signs that the couple selects in advance. The FAQ gives the practical requirements: an area of about 2 by 2 meters, a ceiling height of at least 2.4 meters when a backdrop is used, and a normal 230-volt socket nearby. The booth inquiry form asks for the date and place of the event, the package and the type of occasion.

What the site does not answer

The pages do not name the photographer, and they give no founding year or background. They do not say whether the studio works in English; everything on the site is in German, with the wedding page in the informal register and the portrait page in the formal "Sie". There is no stated delivery time for the edited wedding photos, no mention of a second photographer, and nothing on travel outside the Bern and Thun region or on travel charges. The booth delivery is explicitly limited to the Bern and Thun region, so a couple marrying farther away would have to collect it or ask. The wedding page's gallery carries no captions either, so it does not show which venues in the region the studio has already photographed.

For a couple from abroad the questions to send are therefore: which language the shoot and the planning conversations can run in, how long delivery takes, how many photos a package typically yields, where within each price range their wedding would sit, and whether the photographer travels to a venue outside the area. Contact is by email to foto-wanzenried@bluewin.ch or by phone on +41 33 222 35 40, both shown on every page.

Who it suits

Foto Wanzenried fits a couple holding a small or mid-sized wedding in Thun, around Lake Thun or in the Bern region, who want a local studio with clear prices and do not need a big-name destination photographer. The registry-office package gives a small civil wedding a published starting price, and the booth, with its delivery and setup option, adds a guest activity from the same supplier. The caveats are that the site is German-only, the photographer is not introduced, and details such as delivery times and extra hours have to be asked for directly.
