A long-established photo studio in Liestal

Fotostudio Kamber is a photo studio and shop in Liestal, founded in 1965 by Werner Kamber-Hunzinger and today run by Michael Kamber-Bradley, an "Eidg. dipl. Fotofachmann" (federally certified photography specialist). Weddings are one of several services: the menu also covers the studio, a photo lab, a camera and binocular shop with repairs, camera courses and rental, passport and application photos, school and kindergarten photography, and business reportage. The wedding page describes the studio as a regional expert for wedding reportage, built on long experience, knowledge, continuous training and a lot of flexibility.

The wedding offer

The wedding page is written as a letter to the couple. It explains that wedding photos are a very personal treasure of memories from a day that passes far too quickly, and that the studio's aim is "diesen Tag für Sie und Ihre Freunde im richtigen Moment für immer einzufangen" (to hold on to this day for you and your friends at the right moment, for good), so it stays vivid in everyone's memory.

The studio says it knows the "Tricks und Kniffe" (tricks of the trade), the most beautiful places, and how to put a couple in the right light at the right moment. Every wedding is different, the page continues, and all wedding preparations take a lot of effort, so the studio invites couples to come in for a personal conversation to discuss all their wishes and ideas. It stresses that this closeness to its customers matters, so the couple can enjoy the day calmly, with security and full confidence. It also says plainly that it is not a mass provider and does not handle a couple's big day on a conveyor belt under an anonymous number.

At that meeting, couples can see the studio's wedding work, sample albums and more. The page links to a wedding price list (Preisliste Hochzeiten) and a wedding contract (Hochzeitsvertrag), and it is firm on one point: without a fully completed wedding contract, the studio cannot reserve a date.

The team

The team page is unusually detailed about qualifications.

Michael Kamber-Bradley, owner and managing director, is a federally certified photography specialist (Eidg. dipl. Fotofachmann HFP, 2001) and a photographer with the federal certificate of competence (EFZ, 1991). He has taught industry courses in finishing, photography and sales advice since 2003, and has been a vocational school teacher at the Schule für Gestaltung Bern since 2007. He is an examination expert in the cantons of Basel-Stadt, Basel-Landschaft, Zurich and Bern, holds teaching certificates from the EHB Zollikofen (2011 and 2012), was elected to the course commission and board of the association ImagingSwiss in 2013, and trains apprentices.

Werner Kamber-Hunzinger, the founder, is deputy manager and senior chief, described as the analog and binoculars expert. He is a certified photographer, spent 5 years in the photographic research and development department at Ciba Geigy / Ilford in Basel, and was an examination expert in Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft for 20 years.

Yanick Kaufmann, photography specialist EFZ and camera specialist, covers studio shots, advice and sales, Photoshop and video, drone photography and event photography.

Nicole Wirth and Larissa Felber are finishing specialists who also work as studio photographers and handle photo and video editing.

The studio trains future photography specialists in photography and finishing. For a wedding couple, the depth of the team matters mainly in two ways: there is a drone and event photographer on staff, and editing and print products are handled by trained finishing specialists in-house.

The studio itself

The studio page describes a large photo studio in Liestal, with the motto "Wir verleihen Momenten Dauer" (we give moments permanence). It lists portraits, children, baby and newborn shoots, group and family photos, pregnancy shoots, couple shoots and nude or partial nude photography. For couples, that means an engagement or couple shoot in the studio is an option alongside the wedding day, and the studio's photo lab can produce prints.

After the wedding

Because Fotostudio Kamber is a full photo business rather than a wedding-only photographer, it can stay useful to a couple long after the day. The studio page recommends its Kid Card for young children: for a one-off 150 francs, the studio photographs a child as often as the parents like for 3 years. The shop sells cameras and accessories and binoculars, and the service page offers advice, help, repairs and above all sensor cleaning for SLR cameras, and accepts cameras, lenses and binoculars of all brands for repair. Camera courses and equipment rental are listed in the menu too. For couples who settle near Liestal, that makes the studio a long-term local contact.

Opening hours and visiting

Because the studio works through a personal meeting, its opening hours matter: closed Monday; Tuesday to Friday 8.30–12.00 and 13.00–18.30; Saturday 8.30–16.00. A couple living abroad will need to plan a visit or ask whether the first conversation can take place by phone or video, which the site does not mention.

What the site does not settle

The wedding price list is a separate link and its contents are not shown on the wedding page itself, so couples should open it or ask. The site does not say how many hours a wedding reportage covers, how many images are delivered, how long delivery takes, or how far the studio travels for a wedding. It does not say whether the team works in English; the site is in German only. There is a customer gallery login (Kundengalerie) in the menu, but the wedding page does not describe how wedding images are delivered. General terms (AGB) are linked in the menu.

Who it suits

Fotostudio Kamber suits couples marrying in and around Liestal who want an established local studio with a trained team, a personal meeting before booking, and print products, albums and studio shoots from the same place. The team's teaching and examining roles show a studio deeply involved in the Swiss photography trade.

The caveats for couples from abroad are the German-only site, the in-person consultation and the written contract required before a date is reserved. Couples should write first to ask about English, a remote first meeting and the wedding price list.
