Heritage Story

Heritage Story is the wedding photography business founded by Maryem, a photographer based in Lyon, France, who has a dedicated page for weddings in Geneva. She introduces herself there as "photographe de mariage à Genève" and explains the set-up plainly: "Je suis basée en France, à Lyon, mais pour votre mariage, je me déplace où que vous soyez" (I'm based in Lyon, France, but I travel wherever you are for your wedding). She adds that she is used to working around Geneva, between Lake Geneva and the Alps. The business also offers wedding film, made with her exclusive partner, Thomas.
For couples from abroad, three things on the page stand out: a price indication, a clear description of how she covers the day, and a testimonial from a Franco-American couple who valued her fluent English.
Her style
Maryem calls her work fine-art inspired, a style she describes as elegant compositions, soft light and close attention to detail. Her priority, she writes, is to catch authentic, spontaneous moments (exchanged glances, sincere smiles, laughter) while also making careful, timeless portraits that suit the couple. Her approach is discreet, so the couple can live every moment of the day while she photographs the details. The page heading for her style section describes it as luminous and contemporary fine art.
She traces the passion back to her childhood, and to her parents' wedding albums, where every photo told a love story. Her Geneva page stresses natural light: she writes that her photography brings out the natural light of the region's exceptional venues, to make timeless images full of emotion.
How she covers a wedding day
Her FAQ spells out the running order. She says she makes every effort never to disrupt the flow of the day. She usually starts with the preparations, then covers the ceremony and the cocktail reception, then takes the couple portraits in a calm, intimate setting, and finally photographs the highlights of the evening, such as the speeches and the first dance.
She also offers help with planning. Beyond taking photos, she writes, she helps make sure the day runs smoothly: from choosing the places for group photos to optimizing the schedule, so the couple can enjoy their guests.
On timing, she answers a common question directly. The best moment for couple photos in Switzerland is generally "une à deux heures avant le coucher du soleil" (1 to 2 hours before sunset), the golden hour, when the light is soft and flattering. Couples should give her the ceremony and dinner times early so she can plan the portraits into that window.
Venues around Geneva
The page names three of her favorite wedding venues in the Geneva region:
- Château de Voltaire, which she describes as a historic place near the Swiss border combining charm and refinement;
- Four Seasons Hôtel des Bergues, a luxury hotel with an open view of Lake Geneva and the Alps;
- Le Domaine de Châteauvieux, a historic estate in the Geneva vineyards with a view over the countryside, which she suggests for an elegant, intimate wedding.
She says she knows both the well-known places and the hidden corners of the region, and that she is happy to work at whichever venue the couple chooses.
Price and what a couple can expect to invest
Maryem gives a price indication. Her FAQ says that on average her clients invest around 4,000 euros for a full day, including the ceremony, the reception and couple photos. The contact form repeats that her photography for a full wedding day usually starts at around 4,000 euros, and that more intimate ceremonies or shorter events can get tailored proposals. The form asks couples to pick a budget band (under 3,000 euros, 3,000 to 6,000, 6,000 to 10,000, or over 10,000) and whether they want photo alone or photo and video.
Couples in Switzerland should note that she prices in euros, not Swiss francs.
Language and travel
The Franco-American couple in her testimonial, Lauren and Luke, write that her perfect English was a real plus for their wedding. The site also has an English version in its menu. For English-speaking couples, that is a strong point.
Her page lists destinations where couples have taken her: Paris, Provence, Santorini and Lisbon, as well as Lausanne and Valais in Switzerland. Her blog features weddings in Saint-Tropez, at the Château de Saint Martin and at the Château de Varennes.
What past couples say
Lauren and Luke booked her for their engagement photos, their welcome dinner and their wedding in Geneva. They write that what struck them most was her attention and kindness through the whole weekend, that she put them at ease immediately and caught spontaneous moments without ever being intrusive, that their guests complimented her kindness, professionalism and natural manner, and that she was very responsive and organized. They received their wedding gallery in just one month.
Another couple, Émilie and Mathieu, write that they relive their wedding with emotion each time they look at the photos, and that their album was even more beautiful, with sharpness, light and color from the smallest print to the full-page images.
What the page does not settle
The page does not say how many images a full day includes, whether travel costs from Lyon to Switzerland are included in the price, or how far ahead she books up. The general terms (CGV) are linked at the foot of the page. A heading on the page announces distinctions, but no award is named with a year or an awarding body, so there is nothing to weigh there. The film service with Thomas is mentioned, but its price and format are not described here.
Contact is through the form on the page, by phone on 06 22 94 60 96, by email at contact[at]heritage-story.com, or on Instagram at @heritagestory_wedding.
Who she suits
Heritage Story suits couples marrying around Geneva, especially at elegant venues like those she names, who want polished fine art photography, a photographer who speaks English, and a clear idea of budget from the start. Couples planning a weekend with a welcome dinner are a natural fit, given her testimonial.
The caveat is budget and base: prices are in euros and start around 4,000, and she travels from Lyon, so couples should ask how travel is handled.
