Lieblingsmomente Fotografie is the wedding photography of Kim, who introduces herself as a mom, a creative person, a wedding photographer and a family photographer; the copyright line gives her full name as Kim Schönthal. The site's title presents her as a photographer for weddings and ceremonies in Thun, and she writes that she works mainly in the Thun, Bern and Interlaken area, also accompanies weddings throughout Switzerland, and on request gladly travels abroad with couples. Her work centers on lively, emotional, natural and authentic pictures.
Kim's philosophy and style
Kim writes that she loves recording moments with her camera and telling stories through pictures. In her words, "Die Fotografie ist nicht nur mein Beruf" (photography is not just my job); it is her great passion, and she could not imagine more beautiful work. For weddings, that becomes a clear principle: a wedding reportage should reflect the day as it was, with its many beautiful moments, big events and countless small details, and she wants to record all of it.
Her particular love is for the unusual. She writes: "Mein Herz schlägt für ausgefallene, unkonventionelle Hochzeiten mit liebevollen Details, Trauungen in aussergewöhnlichen Locations oder unter freiem Himmel." Her heart beats for quirky, unconventional weddings with loving details, and for ceremonies in extraordinary places or in the open air. Couples planning something outside the usual pattern will find her openly enthusiastic about it.
She also encourages couples to be themselves on the day: they should hide their love for each other no more than their emotions, because their love is unique and inspiring, and she invites them to celebrate it together. For a photographer who works in reportage style, that openness is what makes the pictures. Her pricing page opens in the same warm tone, congratulating the couple on getting married and saying their day is close to her heart. A reportage, she writes there, mirrors the day as it was, in all its genuineness, and if a couple wants pictures that are individual, natural and authentic, they have come to the right place.
Getting to know each other
The pricing page puts a lot of weight on meeting before the wedding. She suggests getting to know each other in a relaxed, informal and non-binding way, simply to see whether they are a good match. When a couple looks for a photographer, she writes, they are really looking for a person who will be very close to them for a long time on an important day; she moves a lot in the background, but they will still spend hours together. In that first conversation they talk about the big day so she can get a sense of the couple's ideas, and she invites every question. What matters to her is that the couple likes her style and pictures, feels comfortable and trusts her work.
Packages and prices
The pricing page shows an overview of the most frequently chosen packages, and Kim notes that she is happy to prepare an individual quote for any wedding. Only the first package carries a price on the page.
The Standesamt package is a 2-hour reportage for CHF 980, covering the couple shoot, the civil ceremony and family pictures, with all successful images edited, some of them in black and white, and a password-protected online gallery for 30 days.
The Basic package is a 5-hour reportage with a personal get-to-know-you meeting, the couple shoot, the ceremony, the apéro and family pictures, all successful images edited including some in black and white, and the online gallery for 30 days.
The Lovestory package is an 8-hour reportage. It adds a get-to-know-you and planning meeting, an engagement shoot a few months before the wedding, and coverage of the bride's and groom's preparations and a first look, alongside the couple shoot, ceremony, apéro and family pictures.
The Forever package is a full-day reportage until midnight, up to a maximum of 14 hours, with the meeting, the engagement shoot and everything from the preparations to the party.
Reading the packages side by side helps with planning: the preparations and a first look appear only from the Lovestory package upward, and the evening party only in Forever, so couples who want the getting-ready pictures or the dance floor should plan for one of those two. On request she also makes wedding albums, writing that nothing is more beautiful than holding your pictures in a high-quality album.
After the wedding
Kim is candid about the work that follows. While the couple is still basking in the memories, she writes, she is already editing the pictures, a demanding stage in which she invests many hours in their emotional moments. Couples receive all sorted images edited, some in black and white, on a USB stick, together with a few prints, all lovingly packaged. They also get a personal online gallery, so they can look at the pictures on a phone or tablet while traveling and share them with their guests, who can download the images free of charge in full resolution.
One inconsistency is worth noting: the text above the packages says the online gallery is available for 14 days, while each package lists 30 days. Couples who plan to share the gallery with guests abroad should confirm how long it stays online.
What the site does not answer
Apart from the Standesamt package, the site publishes no prices, so the Basic, Lovestory and Forever packages all need a quote. It does not state a delivery time, the number of images, travel costs for weddings outside the Thun, Bern and Interlaken area or abroad, or the price of albums. The text is in German; the menu uses English labels (Galleries, Pricing, Meet me, Contact), but the site does not say whether she works in English, so couples from abroad should ask. Inquiries go through the contact page.
Who she suits
Kim suits couples marrying around Thun, Bern or Interlaken, and particularly those planning an unconventional wedding, an outdoor ceremony or an unusual venue, who want natural, emotional pictures of the whole day. The Lovestory and Forever packages include an engagement shoot a few months before the wedding, a good way to get comfortable with her in advance. Couples marrying only at the registry office have a clear, priced option. The caveats are the unpublished prices for the larger packages and the unclear gallery period.
