A Rapperswil Photographer Who Prefers Natural Light

momo FOTOSTUDIO is the studio of a photographer who calls herself simply Momo, based in the middle of Rapperswil. Her wedding page opens with the line "Mein Name ist Momo und bin seit 14 Jahren schweizweit Hochzeitsfotografin" (my name is Momo and I have been a wedding photographer throughout Switzerland for 14 years). She describes herself as a photographer, graphic designer and mother of 3 children, and she runs the business as momo FOTOSTUDIO GmbH.

Her stated approach is natural photography that holds on to emotion. She wants to photograph couples and their families with real feelings and to show them, in a simple and uncomplicated way, as they really are. The page puts it in a line that sums up the style well: "Bei mir dürfen Haare fliegen, das Licht so natürlich bleiben wie möglich und ein echtes Lachen ist das schönste!" (with me, hair is allowed to fly, the light stays as natural as possible, and a real laugh is the most beautiful thing). She adds that photography is more than holding on to moments, it is the creation of lasting memories, and that wedding photography is her great passion.

Weddings sit alongside a wider portfolio. The homepage lists children and families, pregnancy, baby, portrait and business photography, weddings, and kindergarten and school photography. Couples looking for one photographer to cover later family milestones will find that she already offers them.

The same thinking runs through all of it. On her about page she writes that she loves photographing people, children and families as they are, "natürlich und echt" (natural and genuine), and that being able to hold on to a moment in a photograph is what makes her job a passion. The homepage heading promises "Natürliche & zeitlose Bilder" (natural and timeless pictures), and the gallery page says she aims to catch the moments that make a picture timeless and a wonderful memory. For a wedding, that means the emphasis falls on candid reactions rather than on staged group arrangements.

The Daylight Studio

The studio is in the center of Rapperswil, above an old workshop, at Klaus-Gebert-Strasse 5, 8640 Rapperswil. It is an 80 m2 room with windows all around, which she says gives her the chance to take natural pictures without any flash system. The whole studio concept follows from that preference: daylight rather than artificial lighting, even indoors.

For a wedding, the studio is an option rather than the default. The gallery page says her studio is of course available, and that she photographs there with natural daylight. It is a practical fallback for a rainy day or for couples who want a few clean portraits against a simple background.

Outdoor Locations Around Rapperswil

Her preference is to photograph couples outdoors. The gallery page says she likes photographing couples in nature because "Das gibt wunderschöne und sehr natürliche Bilder" (that gives beautiful and very natural pictures). She explains the reasoning: outdoors, the couple has some distance from the camera, feels less that they are being photographed, and that produces exactly the pictures "die ans Herz gehen" (that touch the heart). She sums it up as "Natürlich und nicht gestellt" (natural and not posed).

She has a set of favorite places in and around Rapperswil and invites couples to pick the one that suits them. Each has its own gallery on the site: the studio, the wooden bridge (Holzbrücke), the station (Bahnhof), the lake (See), a wooden jetty (Holzsteg), a pond (Weiher), a schoolhouse (Schulhaus), the old town (Altstadt), wooden gates (Holztore), an industrial setting (Industrie) and the forest (Wald). The idea is that couples browse the pictures, decide what they like best and where they would like photos with the people closest to them.

She is also open to other places. The page says she is always open to new locations, and if a couple has a favorite spot, she is very glad to come to them. Couples marrying elsewhere in Switzerland can take that, together with her statement that she has worked as a wedding photographer throughout Switzerland, as a sign that travel is part of the job. How travel is charged is not stated.

Booking and the First Conversation

The wedding page invites couples to get in touch for non-binding information and a get-to-know-you conversation (unverbindliche Informationen und Kennenlerngespräch). In that conversation she offers to show and help plan what the photography on the day could look like, in other words a possible running order for the shoot. Contact is by phone on 078 665 59 23 or by email at info@momo-fotostudio.ch, and the site has a contact page. She is also on Facebook and Instagram, where couples can look through more of her work.

Getting There

The footer of every page gives the parking options: the Albu Ville multistory car park or the Tüchelweiher outdoor car park. That is useful for a portrait session at the studio with family members arriving by car. The site does not describe public transport access, so couples relying on trains should check the route themselves.

What the Site Leaves Open

The site publishes no wedding prices, packages or hours of coverage. It does not say how many images are delivered, how they are delivered, how long editing takes, or whether albums or prints are available. It does not mention a second photographer, video, or a deposit and cancellation policy. The site is published only in German and does not say whether consultations can be held in English, so couples from abroad should raise language in their first message. All of these are questions for the get-to-know-you conversation.

Who It Suits

Momo suits couples who want relaxed, natural photographs with loose hair, real laughter and soft light, rather than a tightly posed set. Couples marrying in or near Rapperswil get a photographer with a ready-made list of tested locations, from the old town and the wooden bridge to the lake, the forest and a more urban industrial backdrop, plus a daylight studio as a weather fallback.

Couples marrying further away can still ask, given her openness to new places and her work across Switzerland, but they should settle travel costs early. Couples who need detailed pricing before a first conversation, or who need a fully English-speaking service, will have to ask first, because the site answers neither.
