A Valais Photographer With Published Prices

Sophie Diaz Photographie is the studio of photographer Sophie Diaz in Haute-Nendaz, in the French-speaking part of the Valais. Weddings are one strand of her work: the site's menu also lists commercial, corporate and culinary photography, professional shoots and prints. For a couple from abroad, the most useful thing about her site is that it does what most Swiss wedding photographers do not, and puts a price on every wedding package.

Her wedding page is short and written in French. She describes herself as a wedding photographer who tells true stories through sincere, luminous images: "je raconte des histoires vraies à travers des images sincères et lumineuses." Her eye, she writes, goes to fleeting emotions, knowing glances, shared laughter and the precious moments of the day. She calls herself "discrète mais attentive" (discreet but attentive) and says she accompanies the couple through the whole day to record each moment as it is, without artifice. The aim she states is timeless memories with sensitivity and elegance that a couple can relive long after the party is over. The page closes on the line "C'est votre histoire, et elle est belle !" (it is your story, and it is beautiful).

The Packages

The pricing page, titled "Wedding Formules et tarifs", lists five options.

Civil, CHF 1,200. Three hours of presence. The package covers the civil or religious ceremony, a couple session at a place of the couple's choosing, and a couple session on the wedding day itself. For a small registry-office wedding followed by a lunch, this is the obvious fit.

"Je t'aime", CHF 2,100. Six hours of presence, covering the civil or religious ceremony, a couple session at a place of the couple's choosing, photos of family, friends, witnesses and guests, and the vin d'honneur (the reception drink that usually follows a French-speaking Swiss ceremony).

"A la folie", CHF 3,500. Twelve hours of presence, written on the page as 12h. This is the full day: an engagement session before the wedding, the preparations, the civil or religious ceremony, the couple session, the family and guest photos, and the meal through to the opening of the dance.

"Trash The Dress", CHF 800. A couple shoot at an unusual place, ideally somewhere that matters to the pair. The page suggests the mountains, the waterside, a glacier or the forest, and ends with an invitation to be creative. In the Valais, where a glacier is a realistic backdrop, this is more than a slogan, though the page gives no details on how such a shoot is organized or what access costs.

Engagement session, CHF 420. Offered on its own, separate from the packages.

Two notes sit at the bottom of the page. Travel is not included and is added on top ("Les déplacements ne sont pas compris et sont à rajouter"). And wooden boxes with a crystal USB key can be added to any package for CHF 120. Each package also carries a validity line: one week for the three wedding packages, two weeks for Trash The Dress and one month for the engagement session. The page does not explain what that validity refers to, so it is a point to clarify before paying. Each package has its own purchase button (Acheter) on the page, and the menu also has a booking entry (Réserver).

Reading the Prices From Abroad

The package structure maps cleanly onto the shape of the day. A couple marrying at a civil registry office with a few witnesses can stop at the three-hour package. Six hours covers the ceremony, the group photos and the reception drink; the meal is not in its list. Only the 12-hour package reaches the meal and the first dance, and it is also the only one that includes the engagement session, which gives a couple a chance to meet her and get used to the camera before the day.

The travel note is the figure that remains open. The page states no rate, no radius and no base for the calculation. For a wedding in Nendaz itself that may matter little; for a venue elsewhere in the Valais, in the Lake Geneva region or further afield, a couple should ask for the travel charge in writing alongside the package price.

Beyond Weddings

The site's professional-shoots page shows a commercial job: a shoot of the fully electric Ford Mustang on a road trip through France and Germany to Austria. It is not wedding work, but it shows that she is used to working on location and on the move, which is relevant for couples planning an outdoor or mountain session. The menu's other headings (corporate, culinary, prints) show a broad practice rather than a wedding-only studio.

What the Site Does Not Settle

The whole site is in French, and it says nothing about working in English or German. A couple whose guests or officiant speak English should raise language in the first message. The site does not state how many images a couple receives, how the photos are delivered beyond the optional USB box, or how long delivery takes. There is no information on albums or prints for wedding clients, although the menu lists a prints section. It does not say how far ahead she books, whether she brings a second photographer, or whether there is a meeting before the day for the smaller packages. The portfolio page says it shows her work across different seasons, styles and color palettes, but it does not name venues, so there is no list of places she already knows.

Who She Suits

Sophie Diaz suits couples marrying in the Valais who want candid, unobtrusive coverage and a clear price from the start. The published packages let a couple budget without waiting for a quote, and the three-hour civil option is a reasonable choice for small weddings. The Trash The Dress session is a natural extra for couples who want a glacier or mountain portrait as a session of its own. The caveats are the unpriced travel, the French-only site, and the lack of detail on what is actually delivered.
