A Chur Photographer for Mountain Weddings
Stefanie Blochwitz is a wedding photographer with her atelier in the old town of Chur, in Graubünden. Her wedding page describes her work as elegant, dramatic and timeless, and gives the numbers behind it: she has photographed weddings for over 16 years and accompanied more than 250 of them, in Graubünden, across Switzerland and abroad. Weddings sit alongside portrait, boudoir, underwater, personal branding and career photography on her site, but the wedding page is the most detailed part of it, with prices, delivery times and a long FAQ.
The page is built around a simple idea: the couple experiences the day while the pictures are made. She writes that she watches where the couple has their moments and supports them where support helps, and that 250 weddings have taught her which of the two is needed when. She also lists who she is for: couples who value images with depth and calm over sheer quantity, who want to enjoy the day without worrying, who want a photographer who knows the Graubünden mountains, and who might want to be photographed again after the wedding.
Credentials
Her site lists recognition that a couple can check. She was named SWPP wedding photographer of the year in London in 2023 and 2024, and has won gold and silver awards at international competitions. From the Federation of European Photographers she holds the title Master Qualified European Photographer, which the page calls the highest European qualification. She now sits on international juries herself, judging other photographers' images, and writes that this trained eye goes back into every wedding: she can see in the moment whether a picture works or still needs an idea.
Her approach to craft is stated plainly: artistic wedding images are made in the camera, from light and shadow, not afterward at the screen. That is also why she brings her own lighting.
Light, Weather and the Mountains
The FAQ answers the question every alpine couple has. Fog, rain and snow are part of the mountains, she writes, and often produce the most striking images. Her studio lighting comes to every wedding, set up with her assistant, so she shapes the light herself and can photograph anywhere and in any weather, outdoors as well as in vaults, hotel halls or stairwells. She photographs free ceremonies in the open air, mountain weddings with a cable-car ride to the summit, and small celebrations, and says she knows the Graubünden mountains in every season and when the light falls where.
The page walks through the regions she covers: Chur and the Bündner Herrschaft (Maienfeld, Malans, Jenins), the Engadin and St. Moritz (from the San Gian church in Celerina to the grand hotels of St. Moritz, Sils and Pontresina), Davos, Klosters and the Prättigau, Arosa and Lenzerheide with summits like the Rothorn, and Flims, Laax and the Surselva with the Caumasee and the Schweizerhof in Flims. She also works in eastern Switzerland (St. Gallen, Appenzell, Thurgau), on Lake Zurich and in the Principality of Liechtenstein, and for destinations abroad she asks couples simply to inquire. Her site says that from Chur she reaches every valley in Graubünden in a good hour.
She also names venues she recommends most often, with the photo spots and light times she knows there, among them the Guarda Val in Sporz, the Quellenhof in Bad Ragaz and the Kurhaus Bergün.
Prices and What They Include
Every wedding gets an individual quote after a first conversation, but the page gives two starting points. A civil ceremony with couple portraits afterward starts at CHF 1,800. A full wedding reportage, from the preparations to the party, starts at CHF 3,800. All prices are in CHF including VAT, travel anywhere in Switzerland is included, and the prices are dated September 2026. The FAQ adds that editing and an online gallery for download are included, and that the exact scope is agreed in conversation. One testimonial on the page is candid about cost: the couple admits to a small shock at the price at first, then says they regret not a single rappen.
The FAQ also answers the practical questions most photographers leave open. Editing takes three weeks, with a small preview within a few days of the wedding. The finished images sit in a protected online gallery, downloadable in full resolution, from which couples can order prints or albums directly. As for quantity, a civil ceremony with portraits typically produces 80 to 150 edited images and a full-day reportage 400 to 700, all fully edited, with no raw files.
For booking, she accepts only a limited number of weddings a year, so for June to September the site advises inquiring well in advance. Winter weddings and weekday dates are often possible at shorter notice, and she notes that dates sometimes come free again.
Extras
Beyond the photographs, she offers products made with the same partners she has worked with for years: photo albums with lay-flat binding, so an image runs across a whole double page without a break; fine-art wall pictures made by hand in her Chur atelier on fine-art paper with mat and frame; a vintage photo booth that prints in ten seconds at 10 × 15 cm, set up and attended by her team all evening with a case of props; and short video highlight clips on request that keep the sound, voices and laughter of the day.
An after-wedding shoot takes place weeks or months later, without a schedule or guests, and allows for places that were too far on the day: a mountain lake, a glacier, the sea. Her site singles out underwater shoots, with the dress weightless in a pool, and portraits in the mountains at the blue hour. A pre-wedding shoot is offered too, as a way to get to know her before the day.
The Atelier
The atelier is at Reichsgasse 61, on the second floor, in Chur's old town. The site describes high rooms, stucco ceilings and plenty of daylight, and says it is a few minutes' walk from the train station, which makes a first meeting easy to combine with a trip to Graubünden. Appointments are by arrangement.
What to Clarify
The site is in German, and it does not say whether she works in English, so a couple from abroad should raise language in the first message. Album and wall-print prices are not published. Terms for weddings abroad are handled on request.
Who She Suits
She suits couples marrying in Graubünden or eastern Switzerland who want a highly credentialed photographer who knows the mountains and is not deterred by weather, and couples planning an after-wedding shoot at a lake or glacier. The starting prices are clear, and the testimonial about the price is a fair warning that this is not a budget choice.
