A Thun Photographer Who Keeps Posing to a Minimum

Stephigraphie is the photography business of Stephanie, known to almost everyone as Stephi, based in Thun in the Bernese Oberland region. Her homepage headline for weddings reads "DREAM MOMENTS - WEDDINGS THUN/BERN - BOOKINGS 2026 ARE OPEN", and the site covers weddings alongside families, boudoir, business and couple shoots. She describes her focus as real emotions: she wants to portray people authentically and, with what she calls her calm and empathetic manner, help them feel safe and comfortable in front of the camera.

Her story is on the same page. She grew up in the countryside on the border between the Emmental and the Oberland and has loved being outdoors since childhood. At around 10, photographer was one of her dream jobs, but she first chose what her father called a "richtigen Beruf" (proper job) and became a teacher, which she says she never regretted. Returning from a long trip in 2018, she decided it was time to pursue the dream; she has photographed a number of weddings since that year, and in 2021 she went self-employed. Her motto, as she puts it: "Wann, wenn nicht jetzt!" (When, if not now!)

The homepage adds that there is no day without a picture for her: whether on a walk through Thun's old town, a swim in the Aare or a hike in the Bernese Oberland, a camera is always with her. Outside weddings she also runs ice-bathing mornings for women, starting with brunch at a café in Thun and ending in Lake Thun, with a keepsake photo for each participant.

How She Works at a Wedding

The site's wedding section is short but specific. Each year she accompanies a certain number of selected weddings. On the prices page, she lists what matters to her. The main goal is for the couple to feel comfortable in front of the camera, because it shows in the pictures. Before the wedding, she coordinates closely with the couple and, where useful, with the witnesses, so that she knows exactly what happens when and can record every important moment. And because she values genuine, unplanned moments, she stays at the couple's side during the congratulations, for example.

The Q&A answers the worry of camera-shy couples directly. She knows the feeling well, she writes, and with her there are practically no posed pictures of the old-fashioned kind; except in a business shoot, nobody has to look straight into the camera, since the pictures should show the relationship between the couple rather than with her. Her advice is to tune her out and enjoy the moment. She also writes that she loves golden-hour pictures and that it makes sense to schedule the couple shoot on the wedding day in the evening light. On clothing for shoots, she recommends earth tones and coordinated colors and advises against busy patterns and large brand prints.

Prices and Booking Terms

Weddings are priced individually: the prices page says she will send a personal quote on request. The one fixed condition is that Saturdays are bookable from 6 hours. The other published prices give an idea of her rates: a couple shoot costs CHF 550, a business shoot from CHF 650 for 1 hour (with ongoing contracts for businesses now available), boudoir shoots indoors or outdoors from CHF 750 including styling, and a family shoot from CHF 550 for 1 hour. For anything else, she offers a tailored quote. All prices exclude travel, charged at CHF 1.30 per kilometer, with driving time included.

What a wedding couple receives is described in a testimonial rather than a package list. A couple who booked her for their civil wedding writes that she took plenty of time beforehand to plan the day's schedule, provide props and handle many small details, that the pictures arrived quickly via a link and could be shared with family and friends, and that a lovingly designed wooden box with a USB stick holding all the files was included in the price. They add that the value for money was right for them.

What Couples and Clients Say

Other wedding couples on the page write that she caught all the special moments and that looking at the pictures feels like being there live again, and that she is uncomplicated, warm and professional. One couple booked her for a registry-office shoot and a dog shoot. The couples section includes a review in English from visitors to Switzerland: "We were visiting from the United States and did a proposal shooting," with service and communication rated 10/10. A couple-shoot review notes she did not mind wet shoes and trousers on a cool, gray day to get a good picture. Business clients mention fast replies and repeat bookings, and one describes a business shoot with her in Palermo.

The galleries show weddings for several couples, family sessions, boudoir, business work and couple shoots including a proposal shoot and a pregnancy shoot. Couple shoots, the site notes, can be an after-wedding session, a proposal, or pictures for the wedding invitations.

Language

The site mixes German and English: several homepage sections are written in English, while the about text, the prices and the Q&A answers are in German. The English review from American visitors shows she has worked with English-speaking clients, but the site does not state which language she uses for planning and on the day, so it is worth confirming in the first message.

What the Site Leaves Open

There is no published wedding price, no number of images, no stated delivery time and no information on albums. The site does not say whether a second photographer is available. Coverage beyond Thun and Bern is a question for the quote, with the per-kilometer travel charge as the known part of the cost.

Who She Suits

Stephigraphie suits couples marrying around Thun, Bern and the Oberland who want a calm, unobtrusive photographer and natural, unposed pictures, particularly couples who dislike being photographed. The evening-light couple shoot and the closeness during the congratulations speak to a photographer who plans the day with the couple. Couples who need a fixed price from the start will have to request the quote first.

Contact

The contact form asks for name, email, phone, the desired date, the type of shoot (wedding reportage among the options), and how the couple found her. Phone +41 79 427 91 04, email hello@stephigraphie.ch, address Blümlisalpstrasse, 3600 Thun.
