A Lake Thun Photographer Who Limits His Bookings

Tinu Müller Fotografie is the business of Tinu Müller, a wedding photographer based in Krattigen, in the Lake Thun region of the canton of Bern. His wedding page opens with a headline about natural wedding photos, because real moments count, and a promise to accompany only a selected number of weddings each year. He introduces himself casually: he loves coffee, a cold beer and deep powder turns on a snowboard, and even more, telling stories of real people with his camera.

His roots are local. The Thun page says he grew up in Oberhofen on Lake Thun, lived in Thun for many years and still lives in the Lake Thun region. He has worked as a wedding photographer for over 10 years, and because he keeps photographing weddings in the region, he says he knows the best spots and plenty of insider tips, from well-known venues such as Schloss Schadau and the civil registry office to the places with the finest view of the lake. For a couple planning a wedding on Lake Thun from abroad, a photographer who can suggest the portrait locations is a real help.

Why He Takes Few Weddings

He explains the limit in his own words: "Da ich jedes Jahr bewusst nur eine beschränkte Anzahl von ausgewählten hochzeiten als Fotograf begleite, finde ich die perfekte Balance" (because each year I deliberately accompany only a limited number of selected weddings, I find the right balance), enough heart for every wedding and enough distance that it never becomes routine. Photography, he writes, is a passion rather than a routine job. The practical consequence is a two-way selection: "Zuerst lernen wir uns bei einem Gespräch kennen und nur wenn es für beide Seiten perfekt passt, werde ich euer Hochzeitsfotograf." (First we get to know each other in a conversation, and only if it fits perfectly for both sides do I become your wedding photographer.)

On experience, the page says: "Ich fotografiere schon seit vielen Jahren regelmässig und seit mehr als 10 Jahren als Hochzeitsfotograf." He adds that this experience helps him stay calm in hectic situations, recognize the important moments and find the right light.

How He Photographs a Wedding

The portfolio page, titled "Echte Hochzeiten, Ehrlich erzählt" (real weddings, honestly told), sets out the approach in detail. He does not want to show only how a wedding looked, but how it felt. To do that, he observes closely, deliberately stays in the background in many situations, and is present where the couple needs his support, so that natural pictures of the couple, their families and friends come about without the wedding turning into a constant photo shoot.

A wedding, he writes, is more than the couple shoot. The mood changes all day, from nervous waiting in the morning to the party in the evening, and he wants his reportages to show that progression. Alongside the big program points he pays attention to what happens unplanned in between: a glance, a touch, the parents' reaction, the guests' laughter. The ring exchange, the first kiss and the official group photos belong in a complete reportage, but the moments nobody planned are often what lasts: a father's proud look, a touch under the table, children who make everyone forget the schedule for a moment, friends laughing while the couple is elsewhere. "Ich suche genau nach diesen kleinen Geschichten" (I look for exactly these small stories), he writes.

For Couples Who Dread the Camera

Most couples he works with, the page says, are not used to being photographed, and many tell him at the first meeting that they feel unsure in front of a camera. That, he writes, is no problem at all. He does not explain complicated poses or expect anyone to become someone else. Instead he gives simple prompts, gets the couple moving, and makes sure they are busy with each other rather than with the camera. The result, he says, is pictures in which couples really recognize themselves, and the couple shoot usually becomes a welcome short break in the middle of the day.

What Couples Say

Three reviews appear on the portfolio page. Sharon and Boris write that everything was uncomplicated and warm from the first contact, mention the free tips he gave them during the preparations, and say he caught every special moment without being intrusive. Simona, writing in Swiss German, says she and her guests hardly noticed him, yet he still caught every beautiful moment, and that he somehow got from the church to the restaurant before them to photograph their arrival. Marija and René give him "10 von 10 Punkten" and describe his support from the first consultation to the handover of the wedding album, including the editing and the album design.

Booking From Abroad

The inquiry form asks only for first name, last name, email, a message and the planned wedding date. He replies personally, usually within 24 hours, by email. If the date is free, he sends proposed dates for a first meeting. Couples who live nearby can meet him in person; otherwise the meeting takes place by video call, which is the practical route for a couple abroad. Contact details are also in the footer: info@tinumueller.ch and 079 541 15 16.

What the Site Leaves Open

The wedding pages list questions in their FAQ, including whether a date can be reserved, how long he stays on the day, where to find his prices, how long delivery takes, whether a complete reportage can be seen, how images are delivered and whether he offers albums. The page text itself gives no prices, hours or delivery time, so couples should ask for those in the first message. The site is in German and does not mention English.

Beyond Weddings

The menu also shows portrait photography (he specializes in natural outdoor portrait shoots for individuals, couples and families), sports photography, personal projects titled "Gesichter der Flucht" and "Forever sideways", a blog and an online shop.

Who He Suits

Tinu Müller suits couples marrying around Lake Thun who want an unobtrusive photographer with local knowledge of the best spots. The mutual-fit meeting and the limited number of weddings make him a choice for couples who plan early. Couples who need English or a published price list should raise both at the start.
