A classic-car workshop that also rents wedding cars

British Classic Cars AG is a classic-car business in Knonau, in the canton of Zurich, and wedding car hire is one strand of a much wider trade. The site's service menu lists a workshop (Werkstatt), parts and tire sales, car detailing, transport and storage, and classic-car appraisal (Oldtimer Beurteilung), alongside the rental section and a page for holding events on the premises. There is also a new Classic Store and a shop. The wedding cars, in other words, come from a business whose everyday work is looking after old British cars, and that is the main reason to consider it.

The rental page opens with the headline "Unvergessliche Momente" (moments that stay with you) and the promise of a suitable classic car "entweder zum selber lenken oder mit Chauffeur" (either to drive yourself or with a chauffeur). Under the heading Hochzeitsfahrzeuge (wedding vehicles), it presents two cars, each billed as a Wedding Coach.

MyLady, the one you can drive yourself

MyLady is described as "Die herrschaftliche Limousine" (the stately limousine). The page lists its features plainly: automatic gearbox, power steering, power brakes, wood and leather interior, and right-hand drive, the last marked with an exclamation point. Self-drivers get half an hour of instruction ("½ Std. Instruktion für Selbstfahrer").

For a couple, those details decide whether self-drive is realistic. An automatic with power steering and brakes is much easier to handle than many classics, and the instruction session is there for exactly that purpose. Right-hand drive on Swiss roads does take getting used to, however, and a half hour is not long. A couple who are nervous about it, or who want both of them in the back, can book the car with a chauffeur instead.

The Majestic, chauffeur only

The second car, The Majestic Type, is presented as "Die Royale Limousine" and the site adds that it was "Im Erstbesitz der Windsors" (first owned by the Windsors). Its listed features are a partition screen between driver and passengers, ambient lighting, an on-board bar, and heating in the rear. It is rented only with a chauffeur ("Vermietung nur mit Chauffeur").

The rear heating is worth noting for anyone marrying in the colder months. The partition and bar make this the more formal of the two, and the car in which the couple are simply passengers. Both cars have a "Mehr Informationen" (more information) link to a page of their own.

Prices, booking and opening hours

The rental page says "Alle Infos und Preise hier:" (all information and prices here) and links to a separate document, so prices do exist, but they are not set out on the rental page itself. A couple will need to open that link or ask for the current rates. The company's recurring slogan is "Die Faszination ist grösser als Sie denken - der Einstiegspreis kleiner als Sie vermuten" (the fascination is greater than you think, the entry price lower than you suspect), which refers to the business as a whole rather than to wedding hire.

On hot days, when temperatures pass 30 degrees, the workshop switches to early hours: Monday to Thursday 06:00 to 12:00 and 12:30 to 15:45, Friday 06:00 to 12:00 and 12:30 to 14:45. Those are office and workshop hours; the site does not say how weekend wedding drives outside them are arranged, so that should be confirmed.

Events, fairs and the wider business

The Feiern bei uns! (celebrate with us) page invites people planning an event to hold it at British Classic Cars, with the line "Wir machen daraus einen Klassiker!" (we will make it a classic). It does not describe the space or its capacity, so it is not possible to say from the site whether a wedding reception would work there, but a couple looking for a car-themed aperitif or party can ask.

The gallery section shows the business's presence at the Hochzeitsmesse Luzern 2022, a wedding fair in Lucerne, as well as event photos including a Track Day on 3 July 2025, and entries for Swiss Classic World 2025 and something called Vintage Leaper. What the site does not settle

The site has an EN link in its header, so an English version exists, although the pages read here are the German ones. It does not state which languages the staff speak, so a couple writing in English should ask about that in their first message.

The wedding page does not say how many passengers each car takes, whether decoration is included or can be added, whether the chauffeur waits during the ceremony, or how far the cars travel from Knonau and at what cost. It gives no cancellation terms on the rental page, though the footer links to the company's AGB (general terms). It also does not say what happens if a car is unavailable on the day; with only two wedding cars, that is a fair question for a business of this size.

For couples coming from abroad, the practical points are these: the business is in Knonau, not in the city of Zurich, so the collection point for a self-drive hire is the workshop. The site does not describe the route or public transport to the address, but it has a Kontakt und Anfahrt (contact and directions) page.

Who it suits

British Classic Cars suits a couple who want a British limousine with real character, chosen from a small pair of cars kept by a specialist workshop, and who either want to drive themselves in an automatic classic or be driven in a car with royal history. It suits couples marrying in the Knonau area and elsewhere in the canton of Zurich, with travel further afield to be agreed.

It suits less well a couple who want a larger fleet to choose from, several cars for the wedding party, or an all-in package with decoration and a published per-hour rate on the wedding page. Couples uneasy about right-hand drive should book the chauffeur, and couples booking The Majestic should check the price early, since the price is not shown on the rental page.
