K&K Oldtimer-Vermietung
Tap a star to rate
K&K Oldtimer-Vermietung is a German classic car rental that rents its cars only with a chauffeur, and this is its regional page for Lörrach and Basel. The page offers wedding cars in Lörrach, Basel, Weil am Rhein, Riehen, Schopfheim, Rheinfelden, Grenzach-Wyhlen and Baselland, which puts the Swiss side of the Basel border area inside its stated region. For a couple marrying in or around Basel, it is one of the few listings here that publishes an hourly price.
A German rental with a Basel page
It helps to know what kind of business this is before reading the fleet. The page closes by saying that at K&K you rent classic cars in southern Germany, and it links to separate pages for Karlsruhe, Ulm, Freiburg, Heidelberg, Darmstadt, Lake Constance and the Allgäu, Munich, St. Gallen, Vorarlberg, Mannheim and Frankfurt with Wiesbaden and Mainz. The copyright line lists an even wider spread for the vintage buses, reaching Hamburg, Kiel and Berlin. The Lörrach and Basel page does not give the company's own address, and it does not say where the cars are kept. That matters, because the page also says travel costs to you are calculated individually.
So this is not a local Basel firm. It is a larger German rental with a region it covers, and the Basel area is part of that region. A couple should ask where the car they want is based and what the drive to the venue will add.
The cars
The page lists the cars it offers for the Basel and Lörrach region:
- a Mercedes Super-Cabrio, a sought-after Mercedes classic convertible
- the first Mercedes S-Class ("Die 1. S-Klasse")
- the "Gangsterlimousine," which the page calls a well-known gangster limo that is now a popular wedding car in the area
- a Jaguar, headed "Very british"
- a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, suggested for cruising gently from the ceremony to the photo shoot
- a white 1968 Cadillac convertible, described as a giant of a wedding car in the truest sense
The page also offers vintage buses. A 1960 bus with 22 seats is described as popular for a small wedding party. A 1965 bus with 43 seats is described as one of the largest vintage buses, although the page suggests it for birthday drives and company events rather than weddings. Either bus could move guests between a ceremony and a reception, and the 43-seat bus covers a mid-sized wedding in one vehicle. The site's menu also lists a VW T1 "Bulli" and even a nostalgic special train, but this regional page does not say whether those are available near Basel.
Prices and rules
The page answers three frequent questions, and they give the numbers a couple needs:
- Price. All the classic cars cost 100 € to 120 € per hour. The minimum rental is 3 hours. From 5 hours the company offers a "Hochzeit-Special" (wedding special), which the page does not describe further. The rental prices apply across the whole K&K catchment area, and travel costs are calculated individually.
- Self-drive. "Wir vermieten die Oldtimer grundsätzlich immer mit Chauffeur," meaning the classic cars are always rented with a chauffeur. The page adds that in 70% of all rentals, the customers are couples booking a wedding car.
- Dress and flowers. The company says it rents only classic models that you can get in and out of comfortably even in a large bridal gown with a hoop ("Brautkleid mit Reif"), and that the chauffeur is glad to help. Flower decoration can be fitted to most of the cars, and the company offers advice drawing on 14 years of experience.
These answers remove most of the guesswork. A 3-hour booking at the published rate gives a firm floor for the budget, with travel on top. The page gives prices in euros; it does not say whether Swiss customers can pay in francs.
Places the cars go
The page names three spots its wedding cars return to again and again. In Lörrach it is Burg Rötteln, which the page says is often the ceremony or photo location and from which, it says, the view reaches across the whole three-country corner to Basel and the heights of the Black Forest. In Basel it is the Basler Münster, which the page calls an imposing landmark, 1000 years old, and a very popular place for the ceremony. In Weil am Rhein it is the Vitra Design Museum, which the page says many wedding photographers choose for pictures. For a Basel wedding with photos on the German side, the page is describing a trip the company knows.
Booking and language
The page invites inquiries by phone or email and says you will generally get an answer after a short time. It lists an office number (07242 4069) and a mobile (0171 5236032), both German numbers, and links to an inquiry form it says takes only 30 seconds and is short and non-binding. The footer links to terms and conditions (AGB), which is where deposit and cancellation rules would be found.
The page is in German only and says nothing about English. A couple from abroad should write in English and see what comes back, or ask a German-speaking friend to make the first call.
What the page leaves open
The wedding special from 5 hours has no price or contents on the page. It does not say where each car is garaged, so the travel cost cannot be estimated in advance. It gives no seat count for any of the cars, only for the buses, and nothing about cover for rain on an open car. The page does not say how far ahead to book. Those are the questions for the inquiry, along with your date, the car you want and the route of the day.
Who it suits
K&K suits a couple marrying in Basel, Riehen or the German towns just across the border who wants a chauffeured classic, particularly one of the American or British cars, and likes knowing the hourly rate before asking. The vintage buses make it one of the few options that can carry both the couple and a group of guests in period style.
The caveats are that this is a German business covering a large region rather than a local Basel firm, travel costs are quoted case by case, and everything runs in German. For a border-area wedding with photos at the Münster or Burg Rötteln, those are manageable, and the published price makes the first conversation easier.
