Sports cars for a wedding you drive yourself

KingsCars is a sports and luxury car rental based in Steinach, in the canton of St. Gallen, that says it serves the whole of Switzerland from there. Its fleet is built for impact rather than tradition: a Lamborghini Urus, a Ferrari 812 Superfast, a BMW M5 Competition, an Audi R8 V10, a Ford Mustang GT Cabrio and a BMW M3 Touring. The site names weddings first in its list of occasions, and it offers special conditions for them. This is a self-drive rental with license and age rules; the site describes no chauffeur service.

The homepage introduces the company as a first address for premium sports car rental in Switzerland and says it has specialized since its founding in driving experiences with exclusive supercars. It does not give a founding year. It cites long experience in car rental and a focus on customer service, and a heading claims "5.0 Sterne bei Google" (5.0 stars on Google), with the line that customers consistently rate it with 5 stars.

The cars

The site describes each car with a few specifications:

• Lamborghini Urus, a super-SUV with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and an Akrapovič exhaust, which the site calls perfect for weddings, events and special occasions. No price is shown.
• Ferrari 812 Superfast, the flagship, with an 800 PS V12, from CHF 990 per day.
• BMW M5 Competition, 625 PS V8 biturbo with all-wheel drive, from CHF 450 per day.
• Audi R8 V10, 540 PS naturally aspirated engine with quattro all-wheel drive, from CHF 450 per day.

For a wedding, the choice is mostly about the look and the number of seats. The Mustang is the only car the site lists as a convertible, and the site pitches the Urus and the BMWs on everyday usability alongside performance. It states no seat counts for any car, so confirm them if a parent or a witness is coming along.

The wedding offer

Under the heading "Spezialisiert auf Hochzeiten und Events" (specialized in weddings and events), the site says it provides special conditions for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and company events, and that on request it also organizes the decoration and transport of the car to the place you want. That is the whole wedding offer on the page: a car, special pricing on request, and decoration and delivery if you ask. The site does not describe what the decoration looks like or what delivery costs.

It also says its experienced team advises on choosing the right car, knows every car in the fleet personally, and can explain each model in detail.

Prices, kilometers and conditions

Beyond the from-prices above, the site sets out the rental rules in unusual detail:

• Rental periods run from 3 hours to several weeks. Same-day bookings are possible if the car is free, and there are weekend specials and long-term discounts.
• Kilometers included: 100km with a 3-hour package, 150km with 6 hours, 200km with 12 hours and 300km with 24 hours. Unlimited-kilometer packages are also offered.
• License: a valid category B license held for at least 2 years; some cars require 3 to 5 years of driving experience.
• Minimum age: between 21 and 25 depending on the car.
• Deposit: CHF 2,000 to CHF 5,000 depending on the car's value, or you can leave your own car as security.
• Insurance: fully comprehensive cover with an excess is included in the price. The excess amount is not given.
• Payment: cash, credit card, TWINT and bank transfer.

The FAQ adds the handover routine: you and the team inspect the car together and they explain all its functions, a report records its condition, and the car goes back with a full tank to the agreed place. Trips to neighboring Germany, Austria, Italy and France are possible by arrangement if you say so when booking.

What the site leaves open

The wedding conditions have no figures on the page, so a wedding price is a quote. The site does not say what delivery to a venue in, say, Geneva or St. Moritz costs, or whether the car is then collected from there. It does not state the insurance excess. The site mentions no chauffeur, so someone in the wedding party must meet the license and age rules and drive. The site is in German only, and it does not say whether the team works in English. A couple from abroad should also ask whether a foreign license is accepted and whether the 2-year rule applies to it.

Who it suits

KingsCars suits a couple who wants to arrive in a modern supercar or a loud American convertible, and who has a confident, experienced driver in the party, whether the groom, the bride or a friend. The published from-prices, kilometer packages and conditions make it easy to see the scale of the cost before calling, and the offer to decorate and deliver the car takes some of the logistics off the day.

It does not suit a couple who wants to be driven, or a traditional wedding with a classic car. The deposit and the age and experience rules also rule out a young or newly licensed driver. For the right couple, it is a clear, well-documented offer.
