Oldtimer Princess

Oldtimer Princess is a small classic car rental in Steinhausen, run by Silvia Angerler, that offers two Volkswagen classics with a chauffeur: a VW Beetle called the "Käfer Princess" and a VW T1 Samba bus. It rents them for weddings, photo shoots, birthdays, exhibitions, advertising, Polterabend parties and TV work. The site is personal in tone, written in the first person, and makes one rule very clear: every ride comes with a driver.
The cars
The Beetle is the heart of the business. The About section begins with the story of a VW Käfer born in Wolfsburg in 1967 that became a "Princess," and the homepage motto is "In jedem Oldtimer steckt eine Princess" (there is a princess in every classic car). The site's menu has a page for the VW Käfer Princess and its own price list.
The second car is the VW T1 Samba bus from 1968. The homepage describes it as completely restored, in a classic green and white look, with the Samba-style roof windows, rare opening Safari windows at the front, a double roof rack and a fresh Swiss roadworthiness inspection (MFK). It also has its own page and price list in the menu.
One detail matters for anyone planning ahead: the homepage currently lists that same bus for sale, "Verkauf VW Bus T1," at "CHF 79'000 (Verhandlungsbasis)," a negotiable asking price, with viewings by appointment. The sale text calls it ready to drive at once and pitches it for weekend trips, road trips or as a stylish companion for special occasions, which is also a fair description of what it offers a wedding party. If you want the bus for a wedding next year, ask whether it will still be available to rent.
Chauffeur only
The price page opens with the point the owner most wants you to know: "Mir ist sehr wichtig mitzuteilen, dass alle Fahrten mit Chauffeur sind. Die Autos kann man nicht selber fahren." In English: it is very important to her to say that all rides are with a chauffeur, and the cars cannot be driven yourself. She adds that for photos and photo shoots, you are welcome to sit in the driver's and passenger seats: "Gerne kann man für Fotos, Fotoshootings auf dem Fahrer und Beifahrersitz platz nehmen."
The wedding section of the homepage asks: "Träumst Du davon, in einer Princess chauffiert zu werden?" (do you dream of being chauffeured in a Princess?). For a couple, that means a driven arrival and photographs with the couple posed at the wheel, but no self-drive.
The occasions
The site's services section sets weddings beside three other uses, each introduced with a question. For birthdays, it asks whether you would like to give someone dear to you something special, which is how the gift vouchers fit in. For events, it asks whether you need a classic car for TV, advertising or a company occasion. For photo shoots, it asks whether you are planning one and would like a classic car as an accessory, and answers that in that case you have come to exactly the right site. The homepage list adds exhibitions and the Polterabend, the pre-wedding party common in German-speaking Switzerland. For a couple, that range means the same car could appear at the Polterabend, on the wedding day and in an engagement or after-wedding shoot, all booked through the same inquiry form.
How to get a quote
The price page says "Natürlich gibt es auch individuelle oder spezielle Möglichkeiten, gerne können wir diese zusammen anschauen," meaning of course there are individual or special options, which she is happy to go through with you. For a detailed quote, it asks you to describe the key points of your plan:
- pickup location, event or occasion
- the route for the chauffeur
- stops along the way
- the photo appointment or shoot time frame
- flower decoration
- the last stop
- special wishes
The page then points to separate price lists for the VW Käfer and the VW-Bus T1. So prices are published on the site, on their own pages, and the quote builds on them with your route and extras.
The inquiry form asks for the occasion, who you are, what time to pick you up, which vehicle, and any further details. A phone number is optional, used only for questions about the job. The site also lists an email address, anfrage@oldtimer-princess.ch, and a phone number. The menu includes AGB (terms and conditions), reviews, partners and gift vouchers.
The homepage also carries a holiday notice: the business was away until 22.9.2026, with inquiries still welcome and answered on return. Seasonal breaks like this are worth keeping in mind for a date close to the holidays.
The styled shoot
The gallery shows a styled shoot titled "Berry & Gold – Autumn Vineyard Wedding," and credits the contributors by their Instagram handles, among them a wedding planner, a photographer and make-up artist and a restaurant, alongside Oldtimer Princess itself. It is a staged shoot rather than a real wedding, but it shows how the cars are used in wedding photography and that the business works with other wedding suppliers.
What the site leaves open
The site does not say how far the cars travel from Steinhausen, or how travel is charged on top of the price lists. It does not give seat counts for the Beetle or the bus. It is in German only and does not mention English; a couple from abroad can use the form in English, but should expect German replies. And the sale listing for the bus leaves open how long it will remain in the rental fleet.
Who it suits
Oldtimer Princess suits a couple marrying within reach of Steinhausen who wants a charming, personal classic rather than a formal limousine: the 1967 Beetle for the two of them, or the T1 bus while it lasts, with the owner's chauffeur and flowers to order. The published price lists and the clear quote checklist make the planning straightforward.
It does not suit a couple who wants to drive, since every ride is chauffeured, or a large party that needs more than two small classics. Book early, keep an eye on the bus's status, and send the full checklist with the first inquiry.
