Voitures Passion

Tap a star to rate

Voitures Passion is a classic car rental network with agencies in Aix-en-Provence, Nantes, Lyon, Bordeaux, Saint-Raphaël and Geneva, and its Geneva page is written in English as well as French. The Geneva agency rents classic cars that you drive yourself, collected at Chemin de Riantbosson 19 in Meyrin, which the page places "just next to the Geneva Airport", or delivered to a hotel, venue, station or airport. Weddings are named as one of its most popular uses, and there is a wedding decoration option at a fixed price. For a couple who want to drive a classic car themselves on the day, with the terms spelled out in English in advance, it is a practical option in the Geneva area.

The agency and its contact

The Geneva page names its contact simply as Olivier, and the "About the agency" text is written in his voice: a lifelong passion for classic cars and fine mechanics, a mix of "a hint of retro, a touch of modernity, and lots of character", and a rental described as "more than a rental service, it's an experience in its own right, a moment suspended in time." It lists weddings, film shoots, unusual weekends and personal pleasure, and invites visitors to "embark on a different and authentic journey." It closes with "Each car has its own story, and I hope it will help write yours."

The footer has a link inviting people to "Open your agency", so the Geneva branch belongs to a larger network. One paragraph on the Geneva page, oddly, describes Aix-en-Provence and Provence instead of Geneva; it is a leftover from another agency's page and says nothing about Switzerland. The French version of the page has the proper text in its place: it presents Geneva as a favored starting point for exploring the Alpine region by classic car, "À quelques kilomètres seulement du lac Léman, des Alpes et des reliefs du Jura" (only a few kilometers from Lake Geneva, the Alps and the Jura hills), with scenic roads, natural landscapes and the Swiss art of living. The French FAQ matches the English one point for point, and adds that booking early gives more choice and flexibility.

Where it works

The page lists the cities regularly served from Geneva: Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Neuchâtel, Nyon, Thonon-les-Bains and Yvoire. The FAQ says cars are regularly available throughout French-speaking Switzerland, including the Lake Geneva region and the cantons of Geneva and Vaud, and that some services may go beyond that area, "particularly for events, weddings, or specific projects", with each request reviewed individually.

The wedding offer

The FAQ answers the wedding question directly: renting a classic car for a wedding in Geneva is "one of our most popular services", and the cars are "frequently used for ceremonies, photo sessions, and arrival at the reception venue." A wedding rental can be a full day or a weekend, with or without delivery. A Wedding Decoration option costs 49 CHF and adapts the car's presentation for a wedding, and each wedding car is prepared so that it is presented in perfect condition on the day.

On pricing, the page explains the structure rather than the amounts. Weekday rentals are charged at a 24-hour rate, and the weekend rate covers 48 hours, which the page says covers preparation, the wedding day and possibly the following day. A rental of only a few hours, for a ceremony or a photo shoot, is still charged as 24 hours because of the preparation, cleaning and checks before and after each rental. Prices vary by model and options, and delivery prices depend on distance and are shown on each vehicle page.

Conditions a couple must meet

This is self-drive rental, so the conditions matter:

  • the driver must have held a valid driving license for at least 7 years
  • a valid category B license or a valid international driving permit is sufficient, subject to the age and experience requirements given at booking
  • a security deposit of CHF 3,500 is required at pickup, held but not debited
  • every rental includes Altima comprehensive insurance, which the page says is designed for classic cars, covers the whole rental period and allows up to two drivers; details are in the terms and conditions
  • free cancellation up to 30 days before the rental starts

At pickup, the page says each car is cleaned, mechanically checked and presented in detail, with a full handover and briefing. Delivery includes secure transport of the car and a key handover with presentation at the chosen place. On driving, the page states that the cars comply with the Swiss rules for this type of use and can circulate freely in Geneva and Lausanne, including city centers and tourist areas.

Booking and timing

Booking is online, and the phone line is staffed Monday to Sunday from 9am to 7pm. Some rentals can be confirmed up to 24 hours before the start, but the page strongly recommends booking early, since cars are in high demand for weekends, weddings and seasonal events.

What the page does not settle

The Geneva page does not list the cars or their prices; for those you go through the "Cars" section and the booking tool. It does not offer a chauffeur, and nothing on the page suggests one is available, so someone in the wedding party must meet the license rules and drive. The page gives no phone number or email in its text, only the booking system and a contact page. And for a couple from abroad, the 7-year license rule and the CHF 3,500 deposit are the details to check first.

Who it suits

Voitures Passion suits a couple who want to drive a classic car themselves around Geneva or Lake Geneva, value clear written conditions in English, and like the option of delivery to their hotel or venue. The weekend rate works well for a wedding with a rehearsal dinner or a drive the day after.

It suits less well a couple who want to be driven, need a precise price before they start, or cannot meet the license and deposit requirements.
