Artelier B

Artelier B is a bridal boutique run from a private home at Pilatusweg 21 in Ebikon, an address the site gives as "Ebikon / Luzern". It calls itself a "Wohnzimmer-Boutique", a living-room boutique, and sells both new designer wedding dresses and second-hand gowns, with fittings only by appointment and only for one bride's party at a time. The site publishes real price ranges, which is rare among Swiss bridal shops, and it is built around an explicit case for sustainable, proportionate spending on the dress.
The living-room setting
The home page is clear that this is not a shop on a high street. "Fern ab vom Mainstream" (well away from the mainstream), it says, Artelier B is deliberately not on an expensive shopping street but in the owners' own rooms: a very bright, loft-like living room with an adjoining garden and a terrace. The gallery page adds that there is plenty of space and that guests are offered small snacks and a drink, inside or out in the garden lounge.
The boutique opens "exklusiv nur für dich und nur nach Vereinbarung", exclusively for you and only by arrangement, and the fitting is booked as a private session. The home page puts the idea more strongly still: Artelier B, it says, "verkauft keine Brautkleider im eigentlichen Sinne", does not sell wedding dresses in the usual sense, but celebrates love with the bride in a private, relaxed setting.
Bianca's story
The about page is written by the owner, Bianca, and signed by Bianca and Mathias. She grew up with two brothers and six cousins and imagined a white dress, a castle and a carriage; the real wedding was less grand, she writes, but she found her dress. Choosing it was one of her best memories of the planning, and she needed her mother and her best friend with her to keep track in a world of white, glitter, tulle, A-lines and princess cuts. After about seven very different dresses she knew what she wanted, and although she had always said she would never marry in a close-fitting dress, she chose a fit-and-flare cut. Her point is that the mirror can overturn any plan.
During that search she also thought about sustainability and proportionate consumption, and found very few second-hand or rental bridal shops in Switzerland. The boutique grew out of that.
New designer dresses and their prices
The dresses page lists six labels, each with a published price range:
- Atelier Emelia, a Paris atelier making wearable, affordable couture, using Calais-Caudry lace, which the page says has been made as a traditional craft in historic workshops for two hundred years. CHF 1,600 to 2,400.
- Bianco Evento, modern designs with classic accents, pitched as quality without breaking the wedding budget. CHF 1,300 to 1,600.
- Eliana Kresa, a young label founded in 2018, with unusual cuts, luxurious materials and each dress handmade in the designer's atelier, mixing bohemian elements with plain, fresh elegance. CHF 2,300 to 2,600.
- Lillian West, relaxed but distinctive styles with a touch of boho. CHF 1,600 to 2,400.
- Noni, timeless and on-trend two-piece outfits tailored since 2005 in the label's own workshop in Cologne and in a manufactory in Europe, designed to be worn again after the wedding. CHF 200 to 800.
- Rina Cossack, a designer from Poland whose dresses are each handmade. CHF 2300 to 2500.
A price summary on the same page says wedding dresses at Artelier B cost between CHF 1,300 and CHF 2,500, with most falling between CHF 1,500 and CHF 2,000, and two-piece outfits start at about CHF 600, depending heavily on the pieces chosen.
The page is equally direct about delivery and sizing. Depending on the designer, delivery takes 1 to 6 months, and some designers offer express delivery for a surcharge. The sample dresses are in a single size, usually EU 38, with some designs in EU 40. The boutique says plainly that it has no curvy department and that its options there are limited, although every dress can be ordered up to size EU 50.
Second-hand dresses
The second-hand range carries sizes EU 36 to EU 40 in classic, romantic, boho and vintage styles. Prices are set by the dress's current owner and, the page says, currently run from 100 to 2,500 francs. The menu includes an "Annahme" section for dresses being taken in.
The boutique's argument for second-hand is practical as well as ethical. Buying a used dress online or from a private seller usually means trying it on alone with little advice; here it happens in the same private setting with family or friends along. The page also notes that a quick purchase and alterations at short notice are possible, and that there is no risk of a dress arriving that looks nothing like its online photos.
The site frames the whole business around a German pair of phrases: the choice of a dress is often not about «Leisten können» (being able to afford it) but about «Leisten wollen» (wanting to spend it), a question of proportion that some brides ask themselves.
Booking, hours and contact
The opening hours on every page are Monday to Thursday closed, Friday and Saturday by appointment, and Sunday closed. Appointments are booked through the "Termin buchen" button, through the contact form, or by e-mail to hello@artelierb.ch. The phone number is +41 (0)78 237 84 78, but Bianca writes that she is very hard to reach by phone and asks people to send a WhatsApp message instead. The menu has a separate "Anfahrt" (directions) page.
What a couple from abroad should know
The website is in German only and uses the informal "du". It does not say whether fittings can be held in English, so ask that in the first message. WhatsApp and e-mail both suit a couple writing from another country.
The delivery times matter most for anyone planning from a distance: an order dress can take up to 6 months to arrive, and alterations come after that. A bride who can visit only rarely should also note that the samples are in one size, so trying on is about cut and style rather than fit. Second-hand dresses avoid the wait altogether.
One caveat is the site's upkeep. Several pages still carry a banner promising new finds for the 2019/2020 season, so check the current labels and prices when booking rather than relying on the list above alone.
Who it suits
Artelier B suits a bride who wants a relaxed, private fitting with her own people around her, a clear idea of cost before she arrives, and the option of a second-hand dress. It suits sizes EU 36 to 40 best in stock, and brides outside that range should expect to order. It is less suited to a bride who wants a large showroom or a wide curvy range.
