Brautatelier Seidenliebe

Tap a star to rate

Brautatelier Seidenliebe is a bridal atelier at Bäreneggweg 7 in Merligen, which the site places "am Thunersee" and "zwischen Thun und Interlaken", on Lake Thun between Thun and Interlaken. It is run by its founder, Jeannette Grossenbacher, and it works without fixed opening hours: every fitting is booked, so each bride has the atelier and the owner's time to herself. The dresses are made in European workshops, the range covers six named styles, and for CHF 25 per person the bride's companions can add an apéro or coffee and cake to the appointment.

The owner and the idea

On the "Über mich" page, Jeannette Grossenbacher introduces herself as the founder and writes that she has been "Seit über 22 Jahren", for more than 22 years, an entrepreneur, with experience, a sure sense of style and a love of detail. With Seidenliebe, she says, she fulfilled a wish to create a place where brides can arrive and settle in: a space for calm, trust and honest advice, "Ohne Zeitdruck, ohne Massenabfertigung", without time pressure and without mass processing.

She stresses that she deliberately takes time for each bride in her Merligen atelier, that every dress is carefully chosen and every consultation personal. The collection page puts the selection more strongly: "Jedes Kleid ist mit Liebe ausgewählt – als wäre es für unsere eigene Hochzeit bestimmt", every dress chosen with love, as if it were meant for their own wedding.

The dresses

The site says the dresses convince not only through design but through comfort and precise workmanship, and that they are made "in europäischen Manufakturen", in European workshops, with craftsmanship and an eye for detail. One label is named on the collection page, Innocentia, under a heading promising a broad variety of brands, and the site's own description mentions designer wedding dresses in different price categories.

The collection is presented in six styles, each with its own gallery:

  • Minimalistisch, the simple dress: "Edle Stoffe, klare Schnitte", fine fabrics and clean cuts
  • Prinzessin, the modern princess: plenty of tulle, glitter, sequins and long trains
  • Verspielt, the playful dress: delicate lace, flowers, loving details and flowing skirts
  • A-Linie, the timeless A-line
  • Figurbetont, fit and flare, which follows the body and flares out below
  • Zwei in Eins, two in one: a fitted, close-cut dress that is completed for the big entrance by a voluminous overskirt with a long train

The last style is useful for a bride who wants a dramatic ceremony look and a lighter dress for the party. The appointment section adds that "Jeder Stil ist vorhanden", every style is available.

The online galleries show only part of the stock. The gallery page says so directly: if a bride has not yet found her favorite there, the atelier is happy to show her "die komplette Brautmode-Kollektion", the complete bridal collection, in person. The collection page's own heading, "Von modernen Prinzessinnen bis zu Vintage-Träumen", from modern princesses to vintage dreams, gives the spread. A bride who has a style in mind can name it in the booking form's comment field so the selection is ready when she arrives.

Accessories

The atelier stocks a long list of accessories, grouped on the collection page:

  • Headwear: veils, tiaras, flower crowns, bridal hats, Curlies and combs
  • Jewelry: earrings, necklaces and bracelets
  • Other: shapewear, petticoats, boleros, jackets, stoles, bags, belts "und vieles mehr", and much more

For a bride with little time, that means the dress, the underpinnings and the finishing pieces can all be chosen in one appointment.

How a fitting runs

The "Über mich" page sets out the process in five steps:

  1. Inspiration & Stilfindung: bride and owner explore different styles, cuts and silhouettes to find out what really appeals.
  2. Die Auswahl: based on those wishes, they put together a selection of dresses.
  3. Anprobe: the bride tries her favorites in a quiet setting, with time, space and honest advice, paying attention to fit, effect and gut feeling.
  4. Individuelle Anpassungen: once the dress is found, it is adjusted to the bride "in präziser Handarbeit", by precise handwork.
  5. Den Moment geniessen: when the dress is chosen, everyone raises a glass to the bride, her dress and everything ahead.

The contact page promises undisturbed time for each appointment, so that the fitting becomes something special for the bride and her companions.

The Erlebnispaket

The atelier offers two add-on packages for the bride and her party, each CHF 25 per person:

  • Erlebnispaket Apéro: savory snacks, a varied apéro including drinks
  • Erlebnispaket Kaffee & Kuchen: sweets, confectionery and coffee or other drinks

The site presents these as a way to start the fitting with a toast and turn it into more than a try-on.

Booking and contact

The site states: "Wir haben keine fixen Öffnungszeiten", no fixed opening hours, so the time can be given entirely to the bride. A request goes through the form on every page, which asks for name, phone, e-mail, dress size and wedding date, and the atelier promises to get in touch "schnellstmöglich", as quickly as possible, to arrange an appointment. Direct contact is by phone on +41 79 957 83 59 or by e-mail to info@brautatelier-seidenliebe.ch.

What the site does not publish

The website does not give dress prices, beyond the mention of different price categories, and it does not price alterations. It gives no lead times for ordering a dress or for alterations. It is in German only, uses the informal "du", and does not say whether consultations are possible in English or French. It says nothing about parking or public transport to Bäreneggweg, or about accommodation. A couple coming from abroad should ask about language, price range and ordering time in the first message, and mention the wedding date, which the form asks for anyway.

Who it suits

Brautatelier Seidenliebe suits a bride who wants a quiet, private fitting with the owner's full attention, and who likes the idea of making a small occasion of it with her companions. The six styles, including the convertible two-in-one dresses, cover a wide range. It suits brides living in the Thun area or able to travel there for fittings. The caveats are the German-only website, no published dress prices and no stated lead times, so planning from a distance depends on the first exchange of messages.
