Maison Mavi
Tap a star to rate
Maison Mavi is a wedding and evening wear boutique in Bern that also sells through an online shop. Its about page introduces it as "votre partenaire exclusif pour la mode de mariage et de soirée en Suisse" (your exclusive partner for wedding and evening fashion in Switzerland) and places the boutique "au cœur de Berne", in the heart of Bern. The site can be read in French, German, English and Italian, which makes it one of the more accessible bridal shops for a couple who do not speak the local language. The menu covers wedding dresses, evening dresses, an exclusive collection and a civil wedding range.
The Wedding Dresses
The wedding dress page lists models by first name: MINA, GABRIELLE, NOEMIE, NELLY, GRACE, NAYA, BENEDICTE, BIANCA, BRITNEY, GISELE, BEATRICE, BRENDA, BETTINA, BERANGERE, BERENICE, ROSALIE, MYLENE, MILA, MYA, MAYA, PARVINE, PELINE, PAULINE and NELYA, over two pages. The filters on the page offer sizes 38, 40 and 42, the color white, and four silhouettes: A-line, flared (évasé), mermaid (sirène) and trumpet (trompette).
Each wedding dress on that page is shown at CHF 50.00. That matches the appointment fee described below rather than the price of a gown, and the site does not publish actual dress prices, so a bride should treat the listing as a way to choose models to try and ask for prices when booking.
The page is titled "Robe de Mariée pas Cher à Berne" (affordable wedding dress in Bern) and carries a long buying guide aimed at brides on a budget. It suggests off-white or ivory and champagne or nude shades as often more affordable alternatives to bright white, recommends setting a budget before starting, and gives advice on choosing a silhouette by body shape and a fabric by season.
Booking a Fitting
Fittings are booked online. The booking page says an appointment lasts about 1h30, enough time to explore different styles and silhouettes, and that choosing a slot in the calendar lets the team prepare the visit. There is a booking fee of 50 francs, paid in advance through the online shop. If the bride buys a dress, the 50 francs are deducted from its price; if not, the fee is charged as a consultation service and not refunded.
When booking, the bride can add a note in the cart with her wedding date, the style she is looking for (for example A-line or princess), her dress size and the number of people coming with her. The appointment is only final once the shop sends a confirmation.
Customization
The booking page answers the question of customization directly. For a wedding dress, the shop offers to adjust the cut, add details such as lace, embroidery or pearls, or change elements such as the sleeves or neckline, depending on the model. It says: "notre équipe sera à votre écoute pour concrétiser vos envies et vous guider dans le choix des finitions qui sublimeront votre robe" (our team will listen to you to make your wishes real and guide you in choosing the finishes that will enhance your dress). For an evening dress, the options include adjusting the length and size or changing the straps. Customization is available in the boutique only.
Lead Times and Same-Day Dresses
The shop advises ordering a wedding dress at least 6 to 9 months before the wedding, to allow time for making, any customization and the final alterations. For weddings that are closer, it says: "nous proposons également des solutions adaptées pour des commandes avec des délais plus courts, selon la disponibilité des modèles" (we also offer solutions for shorter lead times, depending on which models are available). It adds: "Nous avons également des robes qui peuvent être essayées et emportées le jour même" (we also have dresses that can be tried on and taken home the same day). For a made-to-measure or customized evening dress, it recommends ordering 2 to 3 months ahead, and offers quicker options for urgent needs.
The same-day option is the most useful point for a couple coming from abroad: a bride can visit once, try on, and leave with a dress, provided a suitable model is in stock.
Evening Wear and Delivery
The homepage shows evening dresses with prices, several on sale at 50 percent off: LISE at CHF 175 instead of 350, ROSA at CHF 200 instead of 400, MATHILDE at CHF 225 instead of 450, and LANA at CHF 450. LISE, for example, is described as a strappy dress with an open back and vertical lines of rhinestones, offered in sizes 36 to 42. These suit mothers of the couple, witnesses and guests.
The shop advertises free standard delivery in Switzerland, click and collect at the Bern boutique, and easy returns, with the returns marked by an asterisk and set out in a separate return policy. A size guide, a FAQ and care advice on storing, ironing and protecting a dress are linked from every page. The shop is on Instagram as @Maison.mavi and on TikTok.
What the Site Does Not Settle
The site does not give a street address, opening hours, directions, public transport or parking details, beyond placing the shop in the heart of Bern. It publishes no wedding dress prices and no prices for customization. It names no designers and does not say where the dresses are made. The terms of the return policy and whether they apply to wedding dresses are not set out on the main pages. It does not name the team. Although the site is in four languages, it does not say in which languages appointments are held, so a couple should ask when booking.
Who It Suits
Maison Mavi suits a bride who wants to book and prepare a fitting online, in English if needed, and who values being able to take a dress home the same day. The 50 franc fee credited on purchase keeps the appointment low-risk for a bride who has already narrowed her search. Its advice pages lean toward brides on a budget, but without published dress prices a couple should ask for a price range before traveling to Bern.
