monarosa's own homepage sells 2 different products under one name: bridal wear, and a self-tanning treatment called That'so Sun. The site frames the tan as something for any woman, "ob mit oder ohne Hochzeitstermin" (with or without a wedding appointment), which is the tell that this is not a bundled package. Nothing on the site, in the FAQ or on the tanning page itself, says a fitting and a tanning slot can be booked into the same visit. Treat monarosa as a bridal boutique that happens to also run a beauty line under the same roof and phone number, not a shop that will send you home dressed and bronzed after one appointment.

The shop itself is in Bronschhofen, a district of Wil, not the city of St. Gallen, a distinction its own site states plainly: "Dein Brautmodegeschäft in Wil/Bronschhofen." Tanja Melliger has owned and styled the place since 2009. She isn't alone on the floor: Teri Wettach handles bridal and eveningwear consultations, Evelyne Jost runs the office and accounts, and Ilona Virágné, the in-house seamstress, does the alterations. The catalogue itself runs wider than just wedding gowns: alongside the bridal collection the site lists maternity bridal wear (Umstandsbrautkleider) for a pregnant bride, evening and occasion dresses (Abendkleider), and accessories from veils to hair pieces and shoes.

Everything runs by appointment, no exceptions: "wir arbeiten ausschließlich nach Terminvereinbarung." Booking is one phone call to 071 910 15 46. A first consultation hour costs CHF 40 flat, and every hour after that costs another CHF 40, but the site is explicit that all of those hours come off the price of the dress you eventually buy, so the fee only costs you something if you leave without one. You can bring up to 3 people; the FAQ even explains why the number works: "unser Sofa ist gross und gemütlich," the sofa is big and comfortable enough for a bride and her entourage. One instruction has nothing to do with seating: skip lipstick and makeup before you come in, so nothing marks a dress during a fitting.

4 to 6 months is the number to build a timeline around

The FAQ recommends booking your first appointment 6 to 10 months before the wedding, and unlike a lot of bridal shops that just say "book early," it gives the reason as an actual figure: a newly ordered dress takes "4 – 6 Monate," depending on the manufacturer, to arrive after you order it. That is the number a couple planning from abroad needs to hold onto, since it sets the outer edge of how late an order can go in and still land before the wedding. The shop's own rail already carries dresses that skip that wait entirely, both new stock and nearly-new consignment pieces ready to try on and take, so the 4-to-6-month clock only starts if what you want has to be made.

Prices sit in one FAQ line, in round figures: secondhand gowns run "zwischen CHF 800.- – CHF 1200.-," new ones come in "um CHF 1600.-". Those are approximate bands, not itemised, but monarosa prints them where plenty of comparable shops make you ask. Sizes in stock run 34 to 50, and the shop will special-order some styles up to size 54.

Alterations bill for the work, not a flat rate

Alterations sit outside the dress price and the site is specific about how it charges for them: "Du bezahlst also nur die Änderungen, welche an Deinem Kleid wirklich notwendig sind," you only pay for the changes your dress actually needs, done in-house by Ilona Virágné so that "jeder Millimeter perfekt sitzt." No flat alteration fee is published, so budget for it as an unknown that scales with how much work the dress needs rather than a fixed line item.

Payment itself skips cards almost entirely: cash, EC card or Postcard, and the FAQ says outright that credit cards aren't accepted. Any invoice tied to a consignment purchase is due within 10 days. Dropping off a garment for work is its own small logistics detail worth knowing before you fly out again: the site names Monday, Wednesday and Thursday until 18:00 as the drop-off window, and only by reservation, not as a walk-in counter hour.

No menswear, no rental, and no promise of English

monarosa doesn't dress the groom. Nothing on the site, including the FAQ, mentions suits, menswear or a men's fitting of any kind, so a couple sorting both halves of the wedding wardrobe will need a separate vendor for that. There's no rental option either: "Nein, wir vermieten keine Brautkleider," the shop states flatly, and it doesn't buy dresses outright from anyone either, only takes them on consignment.

The site runs entirely in German, with no English toggle anywhere in the navigation. Nothing states what language a fitting itself runs in, but there's nothing English-facing to suggest otherwise, so a couple booking from abroad should plan on a German-speaking appointment, or arrange in advance if they need something else.

Where the secondhand rail actually comes from

The nearly-new stock isn't overstock, it's consignment. A bride wanting to resell her own dress emails a photo, the brand, the original price and her height; if monarosa takes it on, the requirements are concrete: professionally cleaned, flawless condition with no major damage, from a recognised brand, not older than 3 years, and the seller at least 165cm tall. Accepted dresses go on a contract that runs 1 year, shown to fitting appointments alongside everything else on the rail, and the site claims over 70% sell within that window. The seller gets 60% of whatever the dress eventually sells for. It's a genuinely different supply line from a shop that just orders overstock from a wholesaler, and it's the reason the size run and the price band both stretch wider than a boutique this size would otherwise manage.

Book the phone call the same way any Swiss client does, budget the 4 to 6 months if you're ordering rather than buying off the rail, and treat the CHF 40 as a deposit you get back rather than a cost. The dress and the tan share an address and a phone number. Nothing on the site says they share an appointment slot.
