A large Winterthur school that also teaches the guests

Tanzschule Catwalk, which styles itself Catwalk, Deine Tanzschule, is a dance school at Untere Vogelsangstrasse 7 in CH-8400 Winterthur. It describes itself as the largest dance school in Winterthur and one of the largest in Switzerland, and it teaches standard and Latin dances, Disco Swing, Salsa, West Coast Swing, Hip Hop and more. Its wedding section is split into three offers: one for the bridal couple, one for the wedding guests and a crash course for guests who decide late. The second and third are what make it worth a look, because they cover the parents, the witnesses and the rest of the party, not only the first dance.

The site is written entirely in German and says nothing about teaching in English. For a couple from abroad, that is the first question to put to the office.

The wedding offer, in three parts

The wedding overview page opens with a light touch: everything is ready for the big day, but the cha-cha-cha still is not quite working? It tells readers not to worry, that they are in safe hands, and that the school is there for wedding guests as well as for couples rehearsing their own wedding dance.

For the bridal couple (Für das Brautpaar). The page for the couple is headed "Glänzend vorbereitet" (brilliantly prepared). It says the first dance as a newly married couple should be a memorable experience, moving as one on the dance floor and taking the first steps together, with the couple at the center of attention. The practical part is the last sentence: the school offers support with choosing the music and preparing your individual wedding dance. It gives no format, number of lessons or price, and asks couples to get in touch by email or to call for advice.

For the guests (Für die Gäste). The school writes that the bride's parents, the witnesses and the guests should also feel comfortable on the dance floor. As preparation, it offers to organize a private dance course for them, to refresh what they know, teach something new and help everyone move with confidence on the parquet. For an international wedding, where some guests may never have danced at a Swiss wedding, this is a genuinely useful service, and one a couple can book on behalf of their families.

Crash course (Crashkurs). Aimed at wedding guests who decide at short notice ("Für kurzentschlossene Hochzeitsgäste"), the crash course teaches the most important dance steps for a wedding. The page does not say how long it lasts, whether it is a group or private format, or how often it runs.

The wider school

Beyond weddings, the course menu is broad. Standard and Latin runs through levels named Easy 1 to 5, Hobby 1 to 6, Classic to Pro, and Classic and Classic Advanced technique. Single-dance courses cover Disco Swing, West Coast Swing, Boogie Woogie, Salsa, Salsa Lady Style and Bachata. There are workshops (including a series called Workshops mit Andy), intensive courses, and private lessons and private courses. The menu also lists parties, a shop, room rental, a portrait of the school, a page on its rooms, frequently asked questions and jobs.

The school's own summary of itself is "Bei uns lernt einfach jede(r) tanzen" (with us, everyone simply learns to dance). It adds that despite being the largest school in Winterthur it stays close to its students, that its broad range lets it respond to each person individually, and that its courses make every beginning easy and fun. A student testimonial on the homepage praises committed teachers who teach with patience and enjoyment. The overview page also invites anyone who wants to start at a higher level to contact the office.

The homepage lists upcoming Catwalk parties, provisionally planned: an autumn party at Untere Vogelsangstrasse 7 on 26 September 2026 from 20:30 to 23:59, and a practice evening on 30 October 2026 from 19:00 to 22:00. For a couple taking lessons, those evenings are a chance to try the dance with other people around.

Vouchers

The site sells gift vouchers through an order form, in amounts of CHF 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 or 300, or another amount from CHF 50. Vouchers are sent by registered post after payment, with a charge of CHF 10 for shipping within Switzerland and processing, and are dispatched within 2 working days of payment. They can also be collected at the school and paid in cash or by card. For friends looking for a wedding present, a voucher toward the couple's lessons is an obvious option.

Contact and practicalities

The office (Sekretariat) is open Monday to Friday from 14.00 to 18.30. The school says it can be reached by phone Monday to Friday and by email at any time, on 052 269 25 00 or at morefun@tanzschule-catwalk.ch. The contact block links to Google Maps and Facebook. Every wedding page repeats the same two routes: write to morefun@tanzschule-catwalk.ch or call for advice.

What the site leaves open

The site publishes no price for the wedding lessons, the guest course or the crash course. It does not say how many lessons a couple typically needs, how far ahead to start, whether a choreography is set to your chosen song or built from standard figures, or whether lessons can take place at the wedding venue. The guest course is described as private, but the page does not say how large a group can be. There is no information on teaching languages, and none on how to get there beyond the address and a map link; the site does not mention parking or public transport. A couple from abroad should raise all of these in a first email.

Who it suits

Catwalk suits couples marrying in or around Winterthur who want support not just for themselves but for their families and witnesses, and who like the idea of a large school with regular parties where they can keep dancing afterward. The broad course menu also helps a couple who wants to pick a style other than a waltz. The caveats are a German-only site with no stated teaching language and wedding pages that describe the idea rather than the format or cost, so expect to settle the details by phone or email.
