What it is
Tanzschule Anliker is a dance school in St. Gallen, founded in 1978 by Kurt Anliker and led since 2023 by Michèle Anliker, who is listed as owner and CEO with a Swissdance diploma. Sandro Anliker sits with her on the management team and teaches ballroom and Latin. The school teaches the whole range of social dancing: ballroom (Standard), Latin, Disco-Fox, West Coast Swing, Tango Argentino, salsa, bachata, merengue, jive and rock'n'roll, plus line dance, tap dance, Zumba and dances for seniors. Wedding dance (Hochzeitstanz) is on its list of dances, and its course menu has a separate heading for party and wedding dance courses (Fest- & Hochzeits-Tanzkurse).
For a couple planning a wedding in eastern Switzerland, this is an established, broad school rather than a wedding specialist. The website is in German.
The wedding offer
The course page for party and wedding dance courses currently reads "Aktuell keine Kurse..." (no courses at present), so no group wedding course is scheduled. The menu also lists private lessons (Privatlektionen) and private courses (Privatkurse), which is the route a couple would take to prepare a first dance outside a scheduled course. The site does not describe what a private wedding lesson includes or what it costs.
The team page shows who teaches it. Tina Müller, a dance teacher with a Swissdance teaching-assistant diploma who also serves as COO and head of the office, lists Hochzeitstanz among her styles, alongside Standard/Latin, Night Club Two Step, Disco-Fox, Tango Argentino and seniors' dancing. A couple who want to work with her can ask for her by name.
Because the school teaches so many partner dances, the choice of first-dance style is wide. Couples who want a classic waltz, a Disco-Fox, a jive to a rock song or an Argentine tango can find a teacher on the team who lists that style.
The school's approach
The philosophy page opens: "Wir wollen, dass Tanzen Spass macht, und dies vom ersten Schritt an!" (we want dancing to be fun, from the very first step). It says that for almost half a century the school has held that dancing should above all be a pleasure, "Ohne Leistungsdruck, ohne Tanzprüfungsstress" (without performance pressure, without dance-exam stress). The stated mission is to encourage the joy of social dancing, give a sound dance education without criticizing every small detail, and create an "integrative und unterstützende Lernumgebung" (inclusive and supportive learning environment) where people of every age and learning speed feel comfortable. The page closes by noting that the school has stood for 45 years.
For a couple who have never danced together and feel self-conscious about a first dance, that is a reassuring tone.

Courses and events
The group courses run on weekday evenings and some weekends. Examples from the current program: Disco-Fox 1 for beginners on Thursdays from 22 October to 3 December 2026, 20:45 to 22:15, seven lessons; Rock'n'Roll/Jive 1 on Mondays from 19 October to 30 November 2026, 20:45 to 22:00; a weekend line dance crash course over two Saturday afternoons in October 2026, 12:00 to 13:30. The program is dated 20.08.26 and subject to change, and the home page gives the fall school holidays as 26 September to 18 October 2026, when no regular courses run.
For a couple who live in the region and have a few months, a beginners' Disco-Fox or jive course is a sociable way to learn basics before private lessons on the first dance itself. The home page also says the school is looking for single men and women for some courses.
The course pages describe each dance in a few lines, which helps when choosing a first-dance style. Disco-Fox, in the school's words, is easy to dance, full of spins and wraps, and the most popular style in clubs, danced to party music from the 70s to current hits. Jive is described as the tamed European version of boogie-woogie and rock'n'roll: fast, powerful and rocky. Line dance needs no partner, since steps and choreographies are danced in sync as a group to country, pop and chart music, which makes it a light option for a group of friends or wedding guests who want to learn something together.
The school holds social events that double as practice: an Anliker Dance Night on Saturday, 7 November 2026, a winter dance party on 21 November 2026, and the Anliker-Ball on Saturday, 3 April 2027. It also sells gift vouchers.
What the site does not settle
- Prices. None of the course pages carry a price, and nothing is published for private lessons.
- Language. The site is in German and no page mentions teaching in English.
- Address and access. The menu has pages on the premises and directions (Räumlichkeiten, So finden Sie uns), but the course, team and home pages name only St. Gallen, with no street address, transport or parking details.
- Wedding format. No lesson count, length or lead time is suggested for a first dance.
Contact is by email to welcome(at)anliker-tanz.ch or through the contact form. The Zumba course has its own sign-up number for Maritza, 078 853 50 52, with a free trial lesson.
Who it suits
Tanzschule Anliker suits couples in or near St. Gallen who want an established school with a large team, a teacher who lists wedding dance, and plenty of partner dances to choose from. Couples who like to practice socially can use the dance nights, the party and the ball.
It is less suited to couples who want to see prices before writing, need English-language teaching confirmed up front, or want a ready-made wedding course, since none is scheduled at present.
