NEROBAR

Tap a star to rate

NEROBAR is a mobile bar built into a lovingly converted horse trailer, available across Switzerland, run by Carmen and her partner Tobi. A smaller version, the NEROBAR-mini, can be set up indoors or outdoors. The business has a page dedicated to weddings, gives couples 10% off its base rate, and, unusually for this category, publishes its prices.

The two bars

The homepage describes the NEROBAR as a converted horse trailer available as a mobile bar for events throughout Switzerland, promising elegance, flexibility and "einer grossen Portion Extravaganz" (a big portion of extravagance). If the horse trailer is too big for a venue, the NEROBAR-mini is the alternative. The site says the team can run the mini indoors or outdoors, and that on request it will also rent the mini out; the terms for renting it are not on the pages here.

For weddings, the wedding page says both bars create a unique ambience and supply what it calls sensational drinks. It also acknowledges that wedding budgets are often tight, which is its reason for the 10% discount on the base rate.

The tone of the site is relaxed. The homepage addresses hosts who like things uncomplicated but still want something special, and the offer page promises a professional mobile bar service where the hosts need not worry about anything: "Lass uns die Arbeit verrichten, während du ausgelassen feierst" (let us do the work while you celebrate). Beyond weddings, the bars are booked for birthdays, company events and client events, and the about page closes by saying the couple look forward to good conversations, raised glasses and great parties.

Published prices

The offer page sets out how the price is built: fixed costs (base rate, location and duration) plus the drinks. The figures are:

  • NEROBAR: base rate CHF 900 including 2 hours of bar service, each further hour CHF 150, travel CHF 2 per km.
  • NEROBAR-mini: base rate CHF 700 including 2 hours of bar service, each further hour CHF 75, or CHF 150 per hour from 50 people, travel CHF 2 per km.

The wedding page repeats the base rates and adds the 10% wedding discount on the base rate. Drinks are charged on top, and the site links to a drinks menu (Barkarte), although its contents are not shown on the pages here. The offer page adds that the team is happy to meet individual drink requests.

Three ways to pay for drinks

The wedding page gives couples 3 billing models:

  • Cash bar. The couple pays only the base rate, and guests pay for their drinks in cash or with Twint, the Swiss mobile payment app.
  • Cost ceiling (Kostendach). The couple sets a limit, guests drink up to it, and further drinks are paid in cash or with Twint.
  • Open bar. The couple is billed after the event for what was actually consumed.

For couples working to a budget, the cost ceiling is a practical middle way: the hosts cover a fixed amount and the bar does not stop when it runs out. International guests should know that a cash bar in Switzerland means cash in Swiss francs or Twint, which visitors from abroad may not have, so the capped or open bar is simpler when many guests travel in.

Who runs it

The about page tells the story. Carmen is described as the creative head who had the idea of a bar on wheels, and her partner Tobi joined the project. They bought the horse trailer and converted it in 2021, with support from family and friends. Both had gained a lot of experience in gastronomy before, and they say they had long wanted their own bar and to be part of events like weddings and birthdays.

Where it has been

The events gallery lists past events, several of them weddings: a wedding with the NEROBAR-mini, a wedding with the NEROBAR, a wedding aperitif on the Buchenegg, a wedding in Zurich and the wedding of Tobi and Dési. Other entries include a golf course in Studen, birthday parties in Wallisellen and Rüschlikon, company events for firms such as Sersa Group, Denner and BLKB, the Johann Jacobs Museum and the Long Night of Museums, and a barbecue in Dättwil. The list includes Zurich itself, and the offer page is titled around renting a mobile bar for events in Zurich, although the homepage offers the bars throughout Switzerland. The gallery is a useful place to see both bars set up at real weddings before asking for a quote.

Booking and contact

Booking runs through a request form on the site (Anfragen), and the phone number is +41 79 245 54 37. The menu also lists partners, a FAQ and terms and conditions, which are not among the pages here.

What the site does not settle

The drinks prices are not on the pages here, so the total for an open bar cannot be estimated without the Barkarte or a quote. The site does not say where the trailer starts its journey, so the travel cost at CHF 2 per km depends on a distance couples cannot work out themselves. It does not state how many bartenders come with each bar, or how many guests one bar can serve beyond the rate change for the mini at 50 people.

The site is published in German and says nothing about English. Couples planning from abroad should ask about language when they send their request. It also gives no booking lead time and no cancellation terms on these pages; the site's terms and conditions (AGB) page is the place to check.

Who it suits

NEROBAR suits couples who want a bar with character at a garden, farm, golf club or other venue with space for a trailer, and who like knowing the base price before they ask. The published rates, the wedding discount and the choice between cash, capped and open bar make budgeting unusually clear. The mini covers indoor venues and smaller spaces.

The caveats are the missing drink prices on these pages, the travel charge that grows with distance, and the German-only site. For a wedding well away from the Zurich area, it is worth asking for the full travel figure before booking, and for a large guest list, how many bartenders the chosen bar comes with.
