bearbeat GmbH is a live music business in Steffisburg, founded and run by the percussionist Dominik Liechti. It supplies singers, musicians, bands and DJs from its own network for weddings, company events and private parties, and it brings them to the event on its own small mobile stages. The homepage sums up the concept in one line: a percussionist, his musicians and DJs, and the mobile stages. It says bearbeat "besitzt weltweit die drei kleinsten, mobilen Bühnen" (owns the three smallest mobile stages in the world), which the team page describes as eye-catchers on three wheels.
The wedding page is headed "Sänger und Musiker für eure Hochzeit" (singers and musicians for your wedding), with the tagline "Live Musik für echte Emotionen an diesem besonderen Tag" (live music for real emotion on this special day).
The people
The team page introduces two core figures. Dominik Liechti, owner and founder, from Thun, has more than 15 years of experience as a live musician and has toured Europe with various bands as a percussionist; the page credits him with building the stages and the concept. Dan Mudd, the musical director, joined in 2018. The page describes him as an Italian artist with a rough voice who sings blues, soul, rock and funk, who earned his living as a street musician before joining, and who is now one of the business's most booked acts. The site's highlights link to his appearance on The Voice of Germany in 2023 and to the European Blues Challenge 2024, which the homepage says bearbeat won as the first Swiss band to do so.
The wider network named on the team page includes the boogie-woogie pianist Nico Brina, who the page says has played more than 3'500 concerts in 19 countries, younger musicians Lucky Wüthrich, Fabienne Hostettler and Steven Andrews, and the Swiss German dialect singers Sandee and Jessica Maurer.
The wedding packages
The wedding page offers two formats.
Live Musik «ALL inclusive» is the full wedding package. bearbeat is present for the whole day (ceremony, aperitif, evening and party) and the page lists what comes with it: one or two stages or sound mobiles, sound systems, lighting and ambient lighting, wedding musicians, singers or a band, a DJ, an emergency generator, deck chairs, small tents, and a complete equipment set with headset, wireless microphone, mixing desk, cables and stands. The page also says the team helps with planning and draws on long-standing relationships with musicians, DJs, comedians, magicians, caterers, venues and decorators.
Live Musik «Light version» is a short appearance at one point in the day: the ceremony, the aperitif or the evening party. It includes a single show block of about 45 minutes, a small sound system, a small lighting setup, a musician or DJ, and optionally a comedian or magician.
The page walks through the day. The ceremony with romantic music; discreet background music at the aperitif and dinner, with short live sets if wanted; and in the evening, the musicians show what they can do before a DJ takes over and keeps song requests coming. The ambient lighting ("Ambientelicht") can be matched to the couple's colors and style. Ceremony classics named on the page include "Stand by me", "You are so beautiful" and "When a man loves a woman", and a church performance of "Stand by me" is shown on the page. If a couple's song is not in a musician's repertoire, it can often be learned for an extra fee, or played from a playlist.
The band usually travels as two to three musicians, according to the page. For the late-night part, the page compares a professional DJ with what it calls "DJ Spotify (bearbeat)": a cheaper option in which guests' requested songs are played from Spotify on an iPad without preparation.
Practical details
The FAQ on the wedding page answers several questions a couple from abroad would ask:
- What the venue must provide. Nothing but space: "Das Einzige, das wir von euch brauchen sind 4×4 Meter Platz" (all we need from you is 4 by 4 meters of space). The team arrives, sets up, accompanies the day and dismantles.
- Access. The mobile stages are 145 cm wide, so they fit through many doors and along narrow forest tracks. The page adds that one stage vehicle has even been flown in by helicopter.
- Travel. With a tour bus and trailer, the page says no distance is too far. It mentions bookings abroad in Dortmund and at the Wörthersee, and says the team works flexibly in Bern, Thun, Lucerne, Zurich, Basel and the whole of Switzerland.
- Price. No price is published. The page says the answer depends on a conversation, because the fee for singers varies with how well known they are, and playing time, travel, equipment and choice of stage all count.
Recognition and reviews
In October 2022 bearbeat won the audience prize at the Swiss Wedding Award, along with "15 goldene Bänder" (15 golden ribbons). According to the page, the award's expert jury credited the business with excellent qualifications, marketing and infrastructure, "einen trendigen, innovativen USP" (a trendy, innovative selling point), a consistently high level in all areas, and very good customer service. The team page lists Swiss Wedding World (Zurich and Bern) among its trade fairs.
The wedding page carries six short notes from couples, mostly in Swiss German dialect, thanking Dominik and his crew; one mentions Dan Mudd singing at the ceremony. Among the venue partners, the team page names Schloss Hünigen, Frachtraum, Villa Emden on the Brissago Islands, Wetterhorn Hasliberg and Krattigen Tourismus, as well as the 1 August celebration on Bern's Bundesplatz.
Booking
The site promises a reply within one hour ("Wir beantworten deine Frage innerhalb 1 Stunde"). Couples can use the enquiry form, start a WhatsApp chat, call 079 361 01 71 or write to info@bearbeat.ch. The address is bearbeat GmbH, Dominik Liechti, Gurnigelweg 18, 3612 Steffisburg. A wedding documentation PDF can be downloaded from the wedding page.
What the site leaves open
- Prices for either package are not published.
- Language. The site is written in German, and the reviews are in Swiss German. It does not say whether the team or the singers work in English with clients, so a couple from abroad should ask.
- Who plays. The network is broad, so which musicians appear at a given wedding is settled in the planning conversation.
Who it suits
bearbeat suits couples marrying around Thun and Bern or anywhere in Switzerland who want live music with its own stage, sound and light, and who value a team that turns up with everything and needs only a 4-by-4-meter spot. It fits outdoor and unusual venues well, thanks to the narrow stages and the generator in the full package, and it suits couples who want blues, soul and rock-leaning live music from a singer with a distinctive voice. Couples who need everything in English, or a firm price before a conversation, should raise both points in the first message.
