DJ Andy-XS is the DJ name of Andreas Weber, whose contact address is Stacherholzstrasse 20, 9320 Arbon. His homepage greets visitors in a relaxed tone ("Hallo Leute", hello folks) and calls DJing his favorite hobby, and more than that: after 30 years of DJ experience, he writes, it is still a great privilege to stand at the mixing desk, meet nice people and enjoy the best music at the same time. The site's title names weddings and birthdays first, and St. Gallen, Thurgau and eastern Switzerland as the home ground.

From village disco to wedding DJ

The About page tells a long and entertaining story. His start came in Urnäsch, in Appenzell, where a group of students set up leisure activities for the village's young people and turned an air-raid shelter into a small disco called «Om de Egge». Weber mixed records there with Danni Popp. The disco was a success, which brought trouble with rowdy visitors and conditions from the municipality, and a second attempt under the name «No Name» followed. He then played at the Kronenkeller in Urnäsch, the late-night meeting point, where the crowd demanded everything from Ländler (Swiss folk dance music) and Schlager to rock, pop and disco. He writes that it was not easy, but that since then he has never concentrated on a single style, instead trying to get the best out of every style. After that year he hung up his records for a long break, while continuing to collect music.

In the 1990s, a DJ he met in the St. Gallen area inspired him to try again, and he returned to the decks in 1996. His busiest years, he writes, were 1999 to 2001, with up to 100 gigs a year as a hobby DJ, and in 2000 he joined the team at the B-One club in St. Gallen. When that ended in 2002, he began playing weddings, birthdays and other private events. He now plays around 20 to 30 gigs a year, which he says is enough for him.

The homepage sums up the private-event years: "an mehr als 100 Hochzeiten, Geburtstagen, Feiern und Firmenanlässen" (more than 100 weddings, birthdays, celebrations and company events), across almost all of German-speaking Switzerland (St. Gallen, Thurgau, Appenzell, Zurich, Schaffhausen, Bern) as well as in Ticino and neighboring countries. The About page adds that he has played in 4 countries: Switzerland, Germany (including a wedding in Konstanz), Liechtenstein, and since July 2021, Austria.

How he works at a wedding

The About page gives a practical detail that matters at a wedding. At birthdays and weddings, guests make so many requests that he would need his whole collection with him, and he cannot fit his 2500 CDs into a Subaru Impreza, so he plays from a laptop. The point for a couple is that song requests from guests of every age are part of the plan rather than a nuisance.

The site's "Repertoire" section lists current titles such as Kungs, Ray Dalton, Stereoact with Kerstin Ott, Cyril and OneRepublic, with a link to more songs. The Kronenkeller story and the mix of Ländler, Schlager and pop explain the range he aims for: music that can move from older relatives' favorites to the current charts.

Weddings and events on the site

The events pages list bookings with dates and places. Past weddings include the Engelschüür in Uesslingen (15 June 2024) and the Hotel Landgasthof Au in Au ZH (10 May 2025). An upcoming wedding is listed at the Tonwerk in Lausen BL on Saturday 4 July 2026, from 18:00 to 02:00, a useful indication of how long a wedding night with him runs. Other listed events include birthday parties at a mountain hut and a castle, and a union delegates' assembly.

The references page goes back to the 1990s: bar and club residencies in St. Gallen, Herisau, Altstätten, Arbon and Gossau; staff parties in the OLMA halls in St. Gallen; several New Year's Eve parties on the Weisshorn summit and in Arosa; a Christmas party at Kanti Zug; the Fantastical festival in Kreuzlingen; the St. Gallerfest; and two over-25 party cruises on the MS St. Gallen from Romanshorn in 2006.

Reviews

Two reviews on the homepage are in German. One, from "George und Familie", thanks him for a great evening and a "mega Stimmung" (a great atmosphere) and says they would book him again. Another thanks him for the music at an après-ski birthday party, with many positive comments from very different guests, and says: "Du warst genau der DJ, der mein Fest zu dem gemacht hat, wie ich es mir gewünscht habe" (you were exactly the DJ who made my party what I wanted it to be). Neither describes a wedding.

Booking

The homepage says he gladly takes requests for weddings, birthdays, company events and club, bar or pub nights and sends "unverbindlich eine Offerte" (a quote without obligation). Contact is by phone on +41 79 236 95 72 or by email at info@dj-andy.ch.

What the site does not settle

  • Prices. No rates are published; every booking starts with a quote.
  • Language. The site is written in German, and it does not say whether he works in English, either for the planning or for announcements on the night.
  • Equipment. The site mentions the laptop and CDs but does not describe the sound and lighting he brings to a wedding.
  • Travel. He lists bookings well beyond eastern Switzerland, but the site does not say whether travel is charged.
  • Terms. No contract, deposit or cancellation terms are published.

Who it suits

DJ Andy-XS suits German-speaking couples, or Swiss-international couples with German-speaking families, marrying in eastern Switzerland or elsewhere in German-speaking Switzerland, who want an experienced, easygoing DJ with a very wide repertoire and a relaxed attitude to requests. The long club history and the Ländler-to-charts range suit a wedding where grandparents and friends share the dance floor.

It is a less natural fit for an English-speaking destination wedding, since nothing on the site is in English. Couples who want a detailed technical package or published prices will also need to ask, as the site's focus is the DJ's story and his bookings rather than a wedding offer.
