DJ Cale
Tap a star to rate
DJ Cale is an open-format DJ and live entertainer who describes himself as "Aufgewachsen im Wallis, zuhause in Bern" (raised in Valais, at home in Bern) and bookable for events all over Switzerland. The page this listing links to is his page for St. Gallen and eastern Switzerland, headed "DJ für St. Gallen. Mit Gefühl fürs Publikum." (a DJ for St. Gallen, with a feel for the audience). It lists weddings first among the events he plays, alongside company parties and festivals, and opens with the range he covers: from a personal celebration to a big marquee party, with a live keyboard added to the set on request.
A review on his homepage from a wedding planner addresses him as Claudio, so Cale is the stage name.
How he plays a wedding
The wedding section on the St. Gallen page is short and practical: from a personal selection of music to the party with the guests, and "Wir besprechen Lieblingslieder und besondere Momente vorab" (we discuss favorite songs and special moments in advance). The homepage explains the method. The couple tells him what music they love and who is coming; he prepares the set from that; and on the night he watches what the guests respond to and adapts. Songs the couple does not want to hear are part of the preparation too.
He plays open format, meaning a mix of styles chosen for the crowd rather than one genre. The FAQ names charts, pop, hip-hop, house, 90s and classics, and the homepage adds dance classics, oldies, Latin, rock and party hits.
The live keyboard
The feature that defines his offer is the keyboard. On the homepage he explains that he plays piano and synth melodies straight into the DJ set and builds his own loops, and a blog post describes live remixes and mashups played on the keyboard at the DJ desk. If a couple wants more, musicians from his network can add saxophone, violin or vocals, and a separate show slot is possible. The FAQ is equally clear that a pure DJ set is "ein vollständiges Angebot" (a complete offer in itself), with keyboard, other musicians and hosting added only if they suit the couple's idea. The homepage includes a video of him playing live at the keyboard.
Where he has played
The homepage lists a selection of past appearances: hosting the Red & White Stage at Open Air Gampel, the Huebfest in Bern, the Melo Festival in Basel, the Rüttifest (including an all-night set in 2026), Praisecamp Basel 2024, the club Le Ciel in Bern, the Dunes club in Ibiza, the Freestyle World Championship in St. Moritz, and company events for Hamilton Watches, Mercedes Benz Visp and Raiffeisen Bank Visp, plus a vernissage in Zermatt. The St. Gallen page adds The Cube at the Olma in St. Gallen and the Thurgau cantonal gymnastics festival 2024 in Arbon-Roggwil, where he played a large marquee party and coordinated with the team on site.
For a wedding couple, the value of that list is range: large crowds, club nights and corporate evenings, so a room of mixed ages and tastes should not unsettle him.
Sound, light and partners
Asked whether he brings sound and light, he answers yes: the equipment is planned for the venue and the number of guests, any existing equipment is taken into account, and for larger setups he works with technical partners. His homepage names Freepower Eventtechnik as one of his sound and light partners, alongside Sil Van Ried Eventtechnik, ABC Event, and the wedding planner Vanessa of my Memories. He is a member of the Wedding Network Switzerland, and says he is happy to put couples in touch with photographers and planners from his network.
Prices
He publishes orientation prices in his FAQ:
- A celebration with 5 hours of DJing, sound, light, planning, setup and dismantling and travel, for up to about 70 guests, costs roughly CHF 1'500 to 2'000. The actual scope and venue determine the personal offer.
- An example of 2 hours of DJ with live keys is CHF 840: CHF 300 for playing time, a CHF 500 show fee and CHF 40 travel. Sound and light are not included in that example.
For a couple from abroad trying to budget, those two examples give a realistic starting point before any email is sent, and they make clear that the live-keys show element is priced separately from the playing time. The FAQ adds that the price depends on playing time, venue, equipment and any extras, and that a budget range helps if the couple already has one.
Booking
The enquiry form asks for an email address and a short description of the event (type of celebration, venue and approximate guest count), with optional fields for the date, place, type of event, and whether sound and light are needed or already available at the venue. He writes that he replies personally, that details are usually settled by email, and that a call or meeting can be arranged if that helps. Couples can also write via WhatsApp. On commitment, the FAQ is precise: a booking is binding only with the couple's written confirmation, by email, to the quote or to a contract; an enquiry is not a booking.
What the site leaves open
- Language. The site is written in German. It does not say whether he works in English, either for the planning or for announcements on the night.
- Deposit and cancellation. The binding point is stated, but deposit and cancellation terms are not.
- Travel beyond the examples. Travel is included in the 5-hour example, and the site does not give a separate rate for longer journeys.
Who it suits
DJ Cale suits couples anywhere in German-speaking Switzerland, and particularly in Bern, Valais and eastern Switzerland, who want a DJ with a genuine live element: keyboard melodies and loops over the set, with the option of saxophone, violin or a singer. The published prices make him easy to budget for, and the clear preparation process suits couples who have firm ideas about what should and should not be played. International couples should check early whether he can host or announce in English, since the website is German only.
